Freshly Made Sketches #367

Hey Everyone

We have a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for you!  This week our sketch has been designed by our Queen of creative backgrounds, distress inks and owner of probably the biggest stamp collections of anyone I know – Karren Johnson.

Also, don’t forget we are into week two of our Design Team Call.  This is your last week to enter, so if you’d like to join our group, head over to the challenge, link up a card and add DT Call next to your name.

I decided to go a little scenic with Karren’s sketch – something I don’t do very often.

The tree I’ve fussy cut out is from the ever faithful Lovely As A Tree – truly the most versatile of stamp sets.  I applied my Early Espresso and Old Olive Markers directly to the tree stamp, huffed on it with my breath and stamped on Whisper White Cardstock.  The little reindeer are from Dashing Deer Stamp Set.  I inked these up with Soft Suede Ink and cut them out with the matching Detailed Deer Framelits Dies.  The grassy area was stamped with the grass stamps from  High Tide.  I’ve used a combination of Mossy Meadow and Old Olive Inks for the meadow.

I searched around for a sentiment that fit in the space where I wanted to place it.  The one that worked the best was this Noel stamp from Joyous Noel.  I stamped this in Early Espresso Ink.  The background stamp is stamped in Crumb Cake Cardstock and is also from Joyous Noel.

The piece of designer series paper is from Wood Textures Designer Series Stack.  I thought the woodgrain background fit with my whole woodsy/meadow scene.  To balance out my placement of the reindeer, I added a sequin and a scrap of Burlap Ribbon near my sentiment.

Just Add Ink #425

Hey Everyone

Welcome to another Friday and a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This weeks challenge is an inspiration picture challenge. Take a look at all the gorgeous colours in this photo!

As you can imagine, I fell in love with this challenge and found it right up my alley with all of those pretty flowers.  I’ve used the flower image and sentiment from Stampin’ Up!s Blended Seasons for my card.  I stamped the flower image twice and went to town on colouring them.  I fussy cut the flowers and leaves out and used the ones I felt worked best around my sentiment.   My watercoloured flowers and leaves were created with my Watercolor Pencils.  I find the pencils so easy to work with.

The designer series paper I’ve added to my card is from Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack.  I also added a strip of lighter DSP, also from this stack, and a strip of Rich Razzleberry Velvet Ribbon under my sentiment.

The team at Just Add Ink have all created gorgeous cards.  Pop over to the challenge and see how amazing their cards are.

Freshly Made Sketches #352

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our fabulous sketch has been designed by Jennifer Timko.  Jennifer’s cards are always absolutely beautiful and wonderfully clean.

As much as I’d love to use Petal Palette on EVERY card I make, I’ve held off for a few cards to try and mix up the look of my cards.  I gave my Stampin’ Up! Blends a go on my flowers rather than the usual watercolour I add.  I like the “fullness” they give to the colour of the roses. For the leaves I did a light watercolour in Pear Pizzazz as I didn’t want the leaves to overpower the roses.

The sentiment I’ve used on my card could make this either a birthday or a wedding card.  This sentiment is from Better Together.  As I seem to do a lot lately, I’ve stamped the background with the ink splatters from Timeless Textures.  I also added a strip of DSP from Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack, a strip of Soft Suede DSP and a piece of Gold Ribbon.

Here’s my card:

The Clean Team have created amazing cards that I know you’ll want to check out.  Pop over to Freshly Made Sketches and take a look.

Just Add Ink #421

Hey Everyone

Thank goodness it’s Friday! I get a whole weekend of craft room time – as soon as I get some cleaning done, that is…

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  We have a sketch for you to try this week and the sketch designer is me. I hope you like it and get a chance to play along!

By now you probably know I love all things floral.  I’ve even been asked if I’m a florist…. I wish I spent the time arranging flowers in a vase as I do when I create my cards.  My flowers are usually just shoved in a vase with no precision at all!

The Stampin’ Up! stamp set I’ve used on my card is Petal Palette.  The flowers are stamped in Black Memento Ink and coloured with my Rich Razzleberry Watercolor Pencil.  The leaves joined to the flowers are coloured with my Old Olive Waterolor Pencil and the large leaves are stamped in Old Olive Ink and fussy cut out.

For the background I used a mix of stamps from Timeless Textures.  These stamps are stamped in Early Espresso Ink. The sentiment I’ve used is from Dragonfly Dreams and is also stamped in Early Espresso Ink.

The woodgrain designer series paper I’ve used in the background is from Wood Textures Designer Series Stack. I then scrunched up some Burlap Ribbon and layered it under the sentiment.

The design team at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous cards to inspire you. Head over to Just Add Ink and take a look.

Freshly Made Sketches #337

Hey Everyone

Welcome to a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our latest sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented Linda Callahan.

I put a put of extra love into this card because I made it for my mum for Mother’s Day.  I always stress when it’s time to make my mum a card as I want it to be just right and make her feel a little bit special.  She might just love Stampin’ Up as much as I do! I love that we have this in common.

The flowers and leaves that I have used on my card are from Stampin’ Up!s Birthday Blossoms.  I have given them a little watercolour love with Fresh Fig and Old Olive Inks.  I then used my Fresh Fig Marker to give more definition to the petals.  There was quite a bit of fussy cutting between the flowers and leaves, but I don’t mind the time it takes as I’m generally singing along with my 80s music playing in the background.

The sentiment I’ve used is from a retired Stampin’ Up set called Oh So Succulent.  Behind the main panel I have used a light woodgrain DSP.  This pretty paper is from Woodgrain Textures Designer Series Paper Stack. My Whisper White Cardstock is matted with Fresh Fig Cardstock as I liked the contrast of this bold colour behind the white.

Here’s my card:
