Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #381

Hey Everyone

Today I’m playing along with Create with Connie & Mary Challenge where they have given us the following sketch to create our cards.

CCMC381sketch

The card I’ve created is kinda vintage-y with not only the retired Stampin’ Up! products I’ve used but with the colours and the distressed edges I’ve given it.  The colours I’ve used are Crumb Cake, Basic Black & Very Vanilla.  I dragged out my crimper again just for a bit of texture to the background and found some long-ago retired Stampin’ Up! DSP called Love Letter DSP for the stars. I’ve stamped a Christmas greeting from a retired set called That’s the Ticket.  To finish it off I’ve added some sequins, button, linen thread and a bow. I can’t even remember the last time I tied a seam binding bow! I have used quite a few old school products here but I can’t go past them for that vintage-y feel.

Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #307 & The Shabby Tea Room #222

Hey Everyone

I’ve had a great day of play in my craft room today making some cards for my design teams as well as two cards for challenges.  Don’t you love it when you have one of these days?  The first card I’m sharing is for two challenges – Create with Connie & Mary Challenge and The Shabby Tea Room.  Here are their inspiration pics:

This sketch is totally fabulous and when I saw the soft colours at The Shabby Tea Room, I knew they would be combine perfectly.  The designer series paper I’ve used is from a Stampin’ Up! pack called Afternoon Picnic.  You’ve probably noticed I like to combine my stamp sets from Stampin’ Up! – this time I’ve used: Petite Petals, Papaya Collage, Simply Sketched and Flower Shop.  Here’s my card:

Mojo Monday #332 & Stampin’ Royalty #214

Hey Everyone

I can’t believe my weekend has flown by again.  It feels like our weekend days are getting shorter and Monday comes around too quickly.  Apart from my design team cards, I only had a chance to make one card for a challenge – well, two challenges actually because I combined  Mojo Monday’s sketch challenge and Stampin’ Royalty inspiration picture challenge.

I was really pleased with how quickly this card came together – it always helps when you have a sketch and a colour combo to start you off.  This card started with Stampin’ Up!s Afternoon Picnic DSP and then all I had to do was add some flowers from Everything Eleanor and some leaves from Summer Silhouettes and my card was done (after quite a bit of dirtying up of the edges of course).

Just Add Ink #191

Hey Everyone

Delys has a wonderful sketch for us to create our projects this week at Just Add Ink – I love the circles in this sketch and knew that I wanted to go a little bit shabby for my card.

JAI191sketch

In an effort to use up my loads of DSP, I found I haven’t used Etcetera in ages and I haven’t combined these lovely papers before.  I think the blue in the houndstooth and also in the background DSP is Soft Sky (you would think that as a SU demo I should know this, but I have a shocking memory and I’m too lazy and go and find my catalogue to check!).  Anyway, that’s the colour that I’ve stamped my tickets from Stampin’ Up!s That’s the Ticket.  I’ve left this card sentimentless as sometimes I like to have a blank card in my stash for any occasion.

Stampin’ Royalty #199 & Mojo Monday #316

Hey Everyone

You all probably know by now that I’m a lover of neutrals so when I saw the inspiration picture at Stampin’ Royalty I fell in love and knew immediately what I was going to create.  I’ve used the sketch from this weeks Mojo Monday challenge for my layout.

My friends daughter made her debut last night and I wanted to make her a card.  I love the elegance of white/cream with black and it kind of reminded of the elegance  of a debutantes dress paired with her partners black suit.  Here’s what I came up with:

Just Add Ink #183

Hey Everyone

This week is sketch week at Just Add Ink.  Tina has created this interesting sketch – I’ve taken this sketch literally but I can’t wait to see what you do with it.

JAI183sketch

I’ve gone a bit vintagey with this one and used the soft colour palette of Summer Starfruit and Smoky Slate.

Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #264 & Mojo Monday #306

Hey Everyone

I’m in love the colour combo over at Create with Connie & Mary this week!!!

CCMC264pic

I’ve teamed their colour challenge with the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday.  Here’s their sketch:

Mojo306Sketch

When I first saw Stampin’ Up!s 2013-2014 In Colours I seriously didn’t know if I was going to like them.  Not sure why because I am totally loving them now, especially Pistachio Pudding.  I tend to jump to the wrong conclusion on some products – ie. when I first saw Artistic Etchings, I said to a friend that I wouldn’t be ordering it as I didn’t think I’d use it.  How wrong could I be? – it’s one of my favourite vintagey sets. I need to learn to give things a go before I judge them.

I don’t have any new Blushing Bride DSP so I’ve used some retired off-cuts that I found in my stash.  I dyed my seam binding with Pistachio Pudding ink so that it matches my papers, added some leaves from Papaya Collage and the butterflies are from Papillion Potpourri.  I’m loving the softness of these colours and am really happy with my card.
