The Card Concept #2

Hey Everyone

I’m back with my second card today – this time I’m back with my card for The Card Concept where I am creating cards in the Shabby/Vintage style.  We were so thrilled that we had over 100 entries – thanks to everyone for making it an amazing first challenge!

Our challenge this week is to create a card using texture.  We’ve also provided the pic below that you can take inspiration from.

I don’t actually have any housey type images that I love, so my inspiration came from the colours that I got from the pic – Crumb Cake, Old Olive and Cajun Craze.  My texture came in the form of burlap that I felt resembled the texture of the shingled roof.  To add extra texture I embossed my hand-cut heart.  I’ve left my card sentiment-less as I didn’t think it actually needed one – it’s also nice to have some blank cards up my sleeve.  As I’m typing this post, I just realised I created a card with no stamping – that doesn’t happen very often in my world!  Here’s what I created:

Head over to the challenge and check out the gorgeous inspiration from the Design Team.  While you’re there, why don’t you link up a card?

Thanks for stopping by.

Stampin’ Royalty #199 & Mojo Monday #316

Hey Everyone

You all probably know by now that I’m a lover of neutrals so when I saw the inspiration picture at Stampin’ Royalty I fell in love and knew immediately what I was going to create.  I’ve used the sketch from this weeks Mojo Monday challenge for my layout.

My friends daughter made her debut last night and I wanted to make her a card.  I love the elegance of white/cream with black and it kind of reminded of the elegance  of a debutantes dress paired with her partners black suit.  Here’s what I came up with:

Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #249

Hey Everyone

The Design Team at Create with Connie & Mary have given us a fabulous sketch this week – one that appealed to my over-layered style!

CCMC249sketch

With our Australian Stampin’ Up! catalogue changing soon, I’ve been taking a look at what stamp sets I do and don’t use anymore.  Established Elegance was in the “don’t use” pile but seeing as it was one of my favourite stamp sets, I don’t think I can part with it. I decided I wanted to use it on my card today as I’ve been going overboard on flowery cards.

Here’s my card:

Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #237

Hey Everyone

The sketch from Create with Connie & Mary this week is a fabulous one.  When I first saw it, I was a little unsure what I would do with the rectangles and in the end I decided to go vintage.

CCMC237sketch

I really do love Artistic Etchings but don’t use it enough these days. I started with the Eiffel Tower and the rest fell into place. Of course I had to add a scrunchy seam binding bow, but this ribbon IS the best for tying bows!  The flower I’ve used is from our upcoming Stampin’ Up! Seasonal Catalogue – it’s called Vanilla Flower Trim. You can either keep it joined together or you can cut it off individually like I’ve done.

Dynamics Duos #37

Hey Everyone

My 4 weeks of holidays has come to an end 😦 and I’m back at work tomorrow. Not heading out to my craft room whenever I want during the day will be majorly different.

I decided I wanted to make another tag and the colour combination at Dynamic Duos was the perfect fit for it.

For last weeks challenge at Merry Monday, our challenge was to create a card using a bird.  One of my co-designers, Margaret, used the bird punch on this gorgeous clean card and she has inspired me to use it too.  I’ve barely used the bird in the last 3 years, so I gave myself the challenge to use it on a project.  Instead of a lovely clean card like Margaret’s, I gone for a vintagey tag as this was the only way I could think to incorporate it. Here’s what I came up with:

Here’s a close up of the tag so you can see the bird a bit closer:
