Global Design Project #110, Addicted to CAS #123 & The Card Concept #80

Hey Everyone

I was able to play along with not one, not two, but three challenges with my card today.  I’m entering my card into the following fab challenges – Global Design Project, Addicted to CAS and The Card Concept.  Take a look at their inspiration pics:

As you probably know, sketch challenges are my favourites.  Half of the card is already done by following a sketch!  The sketch at Global Design Project is pretty awesome and made putting together my card so easy.  Are you like me and save sketches? When I get the chance, I print them and keep them in a file for when I need inspiration.

The code word at Addicted to CAS is “Leaves” and the gorgeous inspiration pic at The Card Concept has a beautiful cake layered with leaves.  I think the style of this card qualifies at The Card Concept as Classy & Elegant?  I combined these challenges and made a neutral wedding card.

The designer series paper I’ve used in the background is from a Stampin’ Up retired pack called Urban Underground Speciality Designer Series Paper.  This tiny spotted paper was my favourite from this pack.

The leaves are cut with Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies.  To create my coloured leaves, I watercoloured some Thick Whisper White cardstock with Tip Top Taupe (sadly retired), Cherry Cobbler and Crushed Curry Inks.

The sentiment I’ve used is from Beautiful Bouquet.  I stamped this sentiment in the flourish stamp from Label Me Pretty and punched it out with my Pretty Label Punch.  I then added a strip of Burlap Ribbon and Copper Ribbon.  Because I’m a lover of anything bling, especially on a nuptials card, I added a copper sequin.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers

Urban Underground Card Class

Hey Everyone

I created projects recently for my class girls that featured Urban Underground Specialty Designer Series Paper before it retired. It’s taken me a few weeks to remember I hadn’t put them on my blog.

The two first projects are using Stampin’ Up!s Dragonfly Dreams.  I was so glad that this stamp set carried over as it’s one of my favourites.

This is one of my go-to layouts.  I’m a huge circle fan and by layering some circles and adding a couple of banners, the card has a fullness to it that I love. My dragonfly is lightly coloured with Stampin’ Up!s Watercolor Pencils to give it a little more definition and I added some Black Metallic Thread to finish it off.

For my second project we made a post-it notepad holder with calendar.  We used the same pencil technique to give the dragonfly a bit of colour.  I stamped this fabulous sentiment from Beautiful You as it fit perfectly on my card stock and also because I really liked the words. I added some Black Linen Thread and a sequin just because I liked the look of it!

We then moved on to Stampin’ Up!s Lift Me Up stamp set.  We created two cards using this set.

The first card could be for either a male or a female with these colours and these stamps.  My usual cards are florally so it’s nice to have a card in my stash for a man.  If we had more time in the class, we could’ve coloured the balloons, but I liked them clean and didn’t want them to clash with the background DSP.

Our last card was a shaker card.  We’d never made one before and I hoped they liked it.  Shaker cards are fun and can be used for any age group.

I hope you enjoyed these projects.

Thanks for stopping by.

My Mummy’s 70th!

Hey Everyone

This week my mum has turned the big 70!  My mum is a huge lover of my vintage-y type cards so I made her this card to celebrate her special day.

The colours I’ve used on my card are Mint Macaron (oh I will miss this colour), Basic Black, Powder Pink, Crumb Cake and of course Whisper White.  The designers series paper I’ve used is now retired.  It’s from Urban Underground Specialty DSP.  The flowers, as you will have seen from the many times I’ve used it, is from one of my favourites and now retired sets called Penned & Painted.  The sentiment and numbers are from Memorable Moments.  The diecut leaves are made with Flourish Thinlits.  I had lots of fun going back to dirty and tatty edges with this card.  Anything for my mum!

Here’s my card:

Happy Birthday Mummy!  Hoping you have another fabulous 70 years ahead!

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #282

Hey Everyone

There’s a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch hostess is the fabulously talented Cecile Ribon.  I fell in love with this sketch as soon as I saw it.  It’s such a cool design that made making my card easy and come together in no time.  A no time card was what I needed as I’m on hols and sunning it up by the beach until next week.  Take a look at the friends I made while I was putting my card together on Monday. These cheeky birds have me wrapped around their little fingers (if they had any) and have me feeding them 3 times a day.

Now on to Cecile’s cool sketch:

You probably know by now about my love of flower stamp sets.  The stamp set I have used is from Stampin’ Up!s Oh So Succulent. The flowers I have stamped are quite possibly supposed to be made into succulents, but I decided to colour mine and make a Dahlia out of it.  I have paired them with some leaves from Stylish Stems Framelit Dies.  The squares in the background are from Urban Underground Speciality Designer Series Paper – which I LOVE! The sentiments I’ve used are from Balloon Adventures. There are so many of the sentiments that I use from this versatile set.

Here’s my card:

As always, the Design Team at Freshly Made Sketches has nailed it and created gorgeous cards to inspire you. Head over to the challenge and take a look.  While you’re there, we would love it if you could play along.

Thanks for stopping by.

I’ve been waiting for Stampin’ Up’s Watercolor Pencils and they finally arrived.  I love the detail in this flower from Penned and Painted, and even though it comes with it’s own water-colour type stamp, I decided to play with my new pencils.  And I LOVE them – they are so easy to use!  The sentiment I’ve used is from Big on Birthdays and the DSP I’ve used is Urban Underground Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I have almost used a whole pack of this DSP already!

Here’s my card:
