June Workshop

Hey Everyone

I usually only hold about 6 workshops a year.  Mainly because I work a 9-day fortnight and don’t get a lot of time to prepare for them when my weekends are generally full with boring grocery shopping and even more boring cleaning and laundry stuff.  I’m holding a class this weekend and thought I would share the cards that I have made.  You’ll notice I tried to simplify them.  Well, as simplified as I can get. I wanted to show the group that you don’t have to use a huge amount of designer series paper to get impact on your cards.  In fact, I’ve only used a smidge on each card.  I can see that Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper is going to be a favourite of mine.

My first card is using some new products from Stampin’ Up!s 2016-2017 Annual Catalogue.  I’ve used Swirly Scribbles Thinlits that match Swirly Bird stamp set.  I just love how easy these products are to use.  The colours I’ve used (and carried over to most of my other cards) are Basic Black, Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz, Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sugarplum.

These little scribbles dies are pretty versatile.  I decided to create a wreath with my next card and added some flowers stamped in Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sugarplum.  I then added a black banner sentiment from Time of Year.

For my third card, I wanted a quick and easy card in case we are running out of time.  Even though Picture Perfect was in a previous catalogue I didn’t actually purchase it until now.  I saw so many cards with this pretty flower on it and decided I needed it – as I often do.

And lastly, I thought we could finish off our day with a man card.  The starfish in Picture Perfect is perfect for a masculine card and although I was keeping to the theme of Flirty Flamingo or Sweet Sugarplum, I decided to leave those two colours off this card.  I stamped the watercolour-type stamp from Timeless Textures in Crumb Cake behind my starfish and added the wave-like die cut from Scribbles Thinlits.

A birthday card for my Mum

Hey Everyone

It’s my mums birthday today so I created the following card for her in a style I know she loves – vintagey.

I’ve signed up for a Tim Holtz online class that starts in a few weeks time.  I’ve previously signed up for two of his other classes and hadn’t watched a single video of his until yesterday, where I watched two.  I tried to bring in a couple of things I learnt from the two videos I watched for her card, but in the end I think I just went with what I knew anyway.  My mission will be to watch ALL of the videos in my next set of holidays.

Just Add Ink #313

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge for you is to

Just Add B

So that means we want you to create something starting with the letter B on your project.  I decided to create a baby card and have used the following things starting with B  – bee, black DSP, button, bakers twine & I’ve created a baby card.  It’s loaded with B’s!  All of my DSP and bakers twine were hanging around in a basket of unused stuff on my desk. Love it when I can use up some of the leftovers from this basket.

Freshly Made Sketches #238

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday, so that means a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Kim is our talented sketch designer this week.  I fell in love with this sketch as soon as I saw it.  Kim, you have a winner here!

Lots of details here but I still managed to keep it clean.  I’ve used Stampin’ Up!s Garden in Bloom and the splatters in the background are from Timeless Textures.  Here’s my card:

CAS(E) This Sketch #173 & colourQ Challenge #342

Hey Everyone

From a vintage-y tatty card in my previous post today to a very CAS one that probably took a third of the time to create. I’ve created my card for two challenges – CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge and colourQ Challenge.

Look at these colours I’ve combined! I’ve definitely come a long way from when I used to use neutrals only! The Stampin’ Up! stamp sets I’ve used are Papillion Potpourri, Timeless Textures and Four You. Here’s my card:

A Card for My Mum

Hey Everyone

It was Mother’s Day a couple of weekends ago and as usual I stressed over making a card for my mum. My mum loves Stampin’ Up! as much as I do and I know she’d be happy with anything I gave her, but I always spend a little more time when creating her cards – just so she can see I put that little bit of extra love into them.  She loves my over-layered, tattered vintage-y cards, so this is what I made for her. You can’t get more worn than this mum!

Stampin’ Up!s Birthday Blooms is my favourite flower stamp at the moment.  Perfect for colouring and is a super stunning feature on any card. Here’s what I created:

Mojo Monday #447 & Create with Connie & Mary #406

Hey Everyone

A couple of people have asked me why I don’t make many of my vintagey over-layered style of cards anymore.  I think it’s a combination of time (well, lack of time – they really do take me longer to finish them) and also the negative comment that was left on my blog last year that all my cards looked the same in this style.  I’m going to try and find the time to mix up my cards so that I have a combination of both clean and vintage.

I’ve combined today’s card for two challenges – the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday and the colour challenge at Create with Connie & Mary.  Here are their inspiration pics:

Freshly Made Sketches #232

Hey Everyone

It’s my turn to host the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  Whenever it’s my turn, I plan the sketch with no thought of what card I want to design.  When it comes time to put a card together, I struggle with designing a card!  I kept the sketch simple (for once) but it still took me forever to finish my card. Here’s my sketch:
