Freshly Made Sketches #352

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our fabulous sketch has been designed by Jennifer Timko.  Jennifer’s cards are always absolutely beautiful and wonderfully clean.

As much as I’d love to use Petal Palette on EVERY card I make, I’ve held off for a few cards to try and mix up the look of my cards.  I gave my Stampin’ Up! Blends a go on my flowers rather than the usual watercolour I add.  I like the “fullness” they give to the colour of the roses. For the leaves I did a light watercolour in Pear Pizzazz as I didn’t want the leaves to overpower the roses.

The sentiment I’ve used on my card could make this either a birthday or a wedding card.  This sentiment is from Better Together.  As I seem to do a lot lately, I’ve stamped the background with the ink splatters from Timeless Textures.  I also added a strip of DSP from Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack, a strip of Soft Suede DSP and a piece of Gold Ribbon.

Here’s my card:

The Clean Team have created amazing cards that I know you’ll want to check out.  Pop over to Freshly Made Sketches and take a look.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #351

Hey Everyone

Welcome to another Wednesday and another new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented Amy O’Neill.

Here’s the fabulous sketch Amy has designed:

I have used Amy’s sketch to add a card to my Christmas card collection.  The snowflakes I’ve used are from Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies.  I’ve used a combination of Whisper White and Mossy Meadow Cardstock for them.

The sentiment is stamped in Mossy Meadow Ink and is from Blended Seasons Stamp Set.  The font on this sentiment is just gorgeous and is the perfect size for a single layered sentiment.  The background stamps are from Timeless Textures. I’ve stamped these in a combination of Sahara Sand for the watercolour look and Mossy Meadow for the ink splatters.

The designer series paper I’ve used in the background is from Twinkle Twinkle DSP.  I love it when you can use papers from a pack that it isn’t typically designed for.  I’ve been using this pack for my baby cards, but I think the stars work well for Christmas too!

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created gorgeous cards that will inspire you. Head over to the challenge and take a look.  We would love it if you could play along with the challenge.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #350

Hey Everyone

Would you like to see our latest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches?  Here tis:

Don’t you love this sketch? I hope you say yes because it’s mine! lol

I’ve been wanting to use Blended Seasons for a Christmas card since I received it.  I chose to make a wreath from the garland stamp from this set.  After stamping four garlands, I gave the leaves and berries the lightest of watercolour and then set about fussy cutting them all out.  I then created a shaker with some retired Stampin’ Up! Christmas sequins and then glued my wreath together around the circle shaker.  After standing my card up to photograph it, I realised my shaker doesn’t shake.  I think the dimensional I stuck under the sentiment (also from Blended Seasons) is obstructing my sequins to move about.  After I took the photo, I repaired the obstructing dimensional and now my card shakes like it’s supposed to…

The little bell I’ve used on my card is also from Blended Seasons.  I gave it a light watercolour with Basic Gray Ink.  I then gave the bell a quick once over with my Wink of Stella Pen.  It’s so glittery in real life and really adds a sparkle that I think of when I think of Christmas.  It also balances out my off-centre wreath.  The background got a bit of treatment with Mossy Meady ink splatters from Timeless Textures.

Yay for the latest addition to my Chrissy card stash!

The girls have created gorgeous cards with my sketch.  Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #421

Hey Everyone

Thank goodness it’s Friday! I get a whole weekend of craft room time – as soon as I get some cleaning done, that is…

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  We have a sketch for you to try this week and the sketch designer is me. I hope you like it and get a chance to play along!

By now you probably know I love all things floral.  I’ve even been asked if I’m a florist…. I wish I spent the time arranging flowers in a vase as I do when I create my cards.  My flowers are usually just shoved in a vase with no precision at all!

The Stampin’ Up! stamp set I’ve used on my card is Petal Palette.  The flowers are stamped in Black Memento Ink and coloured with my Rich Razzleberry Watercolor Pencil.  The leaves joined to the flowers are coloured with my Old Olive Waterolor Pencil and the large leaves are stamped in Old Olive Ink and fussy cut out.

For the background I used a mix of stamps from Timeless Textures.  These stamps are stamped in Early Espresso Ink. The sentiment I’ve used is from Dragonfly Dreams and is also stamped in Early Espresso Ink.

The woodgrain designer series paper I’ve used in the background is from Wood Textures Designer Series Stack. I then scrunched up some Burlap Ribbon and layered it under the sentiment.

Freshly Made Sketches #346

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week our sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented and clever card maker herself Linda Callahan.

I fell in love with Linda’s awesome sketch as soon as I saw it.  I knew exactly which stamp set and colours I was going to use on my card when I sat down to create.

I wanted to bring the circles together by using flowers and leaves that spread over the middle and lower circles. The flowers I’ve used are from Love What You Do.  I’ve given them a light watercolour with Rich Razzleberry Ink.  The leaves are from Rooted in Nature and are stamped in Old Olive Ink with some added definition with my Early Espresso Marker.

The sentiment on the main circle is from Love What You Do.  I am loving the flow-y font in this sentiment.  After stamping the sentiment and arranging the flowers around the stitched circle, I re-checked the sketch and realised it had a sentiment lower down….it really does pay to look at those things before you get excited and stick things on your card.  I found a thank you sentiment from Petal Palette that I think has a similar font and was pleased to see it doesn’t look out of place.  I added some Powder Pink ink splatters from Timeless Textures and added some sequins to fill in spaces and to add bling. A card can never have too much bling!

I always enjoy seeing the variety the Clean Team create with their cards.  Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #356

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge for you is to :

I decided to go with two balloons and two circles.  The Stampin’ Up! stamp set I have used is Balloon Adventures. I’ve love a layered card and have gone to town with circles and a banner and on top of those, a sentiment in a banner.  My balloons are coloured lightly with Watercolor Pencils and I stamped the background with a smidge of dots from Timeless Textures.

Freshly Made Sketches #280

Hey Everyone

Gee these weeks are flying! It’s Wednesday already and it’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  This weeks sketch has been designed by Linda Callahan.  She creates really cool sketches and even more amazing cards! Head over to her blog and check them out!

I’m channeling my talented colour combining friend Amy O’Neill and have added more than my usual two colours to my card. The candles I’ve created are from Stampin’ Up!s Build A Birthday.  I have inked them up in Pool Party,  Sweet Sugarplum & Peekaboo Peach.  The flames are stamped in So Saffron and to give them a little more depth I added a little Daffodil Delight with my Watercolour Pencil.  I really like this sentiment from Balloon Adventures and know that I’ll be using it a lot from now on.

Here’s my card:

I love seeing everyone’s interpretations of the sketches.  Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and take a look at the fabulous cards the design team have created.  We would love it if you could join in with our challenge.

Freshly Made Sketches #279

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday again! We have a new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches and this week Rita Wright is our sketch hostess.  I love her cards and am always inspired with her creations.  If you haven’t visited her blog, then click here and check it out!

I have a niece who’s birthday is in a couple of weeks time.  She’s so lucky as she’s holidaying in America at the moment. The first part of her holiday was spent on a Disney Cruise and her request for her birthday was to spend it in New York.  One day I’ll get there myself……

I wanted to make a fun birthday card for her.  The balloons I’ve stamped are from Stampin’ Up!s Balloon Adventures.  I’ve stamped them in Melon Mambo and Pool Party.  The sentiment I’ve used is from Happy Celebrations. And because I’m a work in progress with a watercoloured background, I decided to use the watercolour type stamp from Timeless Textures.  I’ve stamped it Pool Party to just add a little bit of something behind the balloons.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #276

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch hostess this week is the wonderfully talented Amy O’Neill.  Amy creates gorgeous cards and can combine colours like no other!

fms276sketch

I’ve chosen a hot air balloon as the focal point from Stampin’ Up!s Up and Away Thinlit dies. I chose a white balloon with black card stock underneath to make it stand out.  I then sponged a bit of Soft Sky on the background and stamped the water droplet type stamp from Timeless Textures for a bit of extra interest. I sponged a tinge of blue around my clouds so they weren’t as stark and so you could see the edges of the clouds.  My sentiment is from For You and is heat embossed on black card stock with white embossing powder.

Here’s my card:

Pals Paper Arts #319 & Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #425

Hey Everyone

I’m back with the second card I created today.  I’ve combined my card for two challenges – the colour challenge at Pals Paper Arts and the sketch challenge at Create with Connie & Mary Challenge.

This is such a pretty colour combination and one I haven’t used before.  I’ve lightly watercoloured the flower from Stampin’ Up!s Birthday Blooms after I embossed it with white embossing powder.  I’ve used the watercolour and droplet type stamps from Timeless Textures in the background.  Here’s what I came up with:
