Colour INKspiration 3rd Birthday Hop!

Hey Everyone

Welcome to a Saturday here night in Australia and a 3rd Birthday Celebration Blog Hop for the INKspiration Colour Challenge!  I haven’t been on the team now for about a year, so I was honoured that the girls asked me to participate in this special celebration.

For this hop, the team were asked to choose three of their favourite colours.  I chose the following in the spur of the moment:

After I sent Bron my colours, I thought about it and realised these colours probably aren’t my favourite, but I do love the combination of them.  I’ve created a birthday card and a matching gift box using the Painted Poppies Stamp Set.

I wanted to go match-y with my gift box and card, so I cut up a Kraft Pillow Box and added it to the background of my card and matted it with some Pool Party Cardstock and Bermuda Bay Cardstock. The poppies have been coloured with a combination of Pool Party Ink and Bermuda Bay Ink in the creases for definition to flowers.  The leaves have been watercoloured with Bermuda Bay Ink. I then added a birthday sentiment from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set and some pretty Whisper White Seam Binding Ribbon.

The gift box has been decorated the same as the card but with strips of Bermuda Bay and Pool Party Cardstock.

The next hop along the way is the super lovely and super creative Lou Kitzelman.  Click here or on the button below to take you to her hop.

Freshly Made Sketches #417

Hey Everyone

Welcome to the first sketch challenge for 2020 at Freshly Made Sketches. Our sketch designer this week is the super talented Judy Rozema.

I am loving the pretty papers in the Parisian Blossoms Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.  The piece I’ve used was the starting point on my card.  It’s Petal Pink in colour and has a lovely script running across it.  The flowers I’ve added to my card are from the Painted Poppies Stamp Set.  The leaves have been coloured with a combination of Petal Pink Ink and highlighted with Poppy Parade Ink.  The Mint Macaron leave are cut the Cherry Blossoms Dies.  To tie in with the DSP, I added a strip of Petal Pink 1/4″ Metallic Edge Ribbon under the sentiment and some Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards using this weeks sketch.  Head over to the challenge and take a look.

Thanks for stopping by.

Artisan Design Team – Sale-A-Bration Coordination Blog Hop

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and the very first 2020 Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team blog hop!  But first, have a look at the gorgeous colours they’ve used in the Artisan picture above. They’re so pretty that I think I may have to combine these colours on a card soon!

The Artisan Design Team are featuring products from the Coordination Product Release. The Coordination Product Release is an exclusive, limited-time collection of products that has everything you need to let you celebrate your creativity. These products are available for demonstrators to pre-order from 3rd January-3rd February.  Preorders are limited to one per demonstrator. By getting your hands on these products now, you can demonstrate to your customers how they coordinate with items from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue and the January-June 2020 Mini Catalogue.  Let them know that these goodies are available to order from the 4th February 2020 and that these products are available for a limited time, so they won’t want to miss out.

The cards I’ve created feature the Nature’s Thoughts Dies.  These dies coordinate with the Positive Thoughts Stamp Set which is available to purchase now from the January-June 2020 Mini Catalogue.  You might know I’m a fussy cutter, but I’m not now with these dies! From beginners to the avid crafter these dies will make creating cards a breeze.

I had fun with colours and layering with the cards below:

To create the first card, I daubed the background Whisper White Cardstock with Pear Pizzazz Ink.  I stamped two fern fronds on to Whisper White Cardstock with Pear Pizzazz Ink and used the coordinating die to cut them out. I then stamped two Smoky Slate flower images and cut them out with the coordinating die. To add some definition to the flowers, I took my Journaling Pen and added some dots to the centre of the flowers.  I then added the sentiment with a strip of Mint Macaron Cardstock and a strip of Smoky Slate die cut with another die from the set.

For my second card I matted the daubed Whisper White Cardstock with some Smoky Slate Cardstock. I wanted to create a frame with the frame die in the set.  I used my trimmer to cut the centre out of the die cut to create a thin frame.   I then stamped and cut two fern fronds and layered them in the frame.  I fell in love with the butterfly from the stamp set and wanted to use it on my second card.  I gave my butterfly some colour with my Mint Macaron and So Saffron Blends. Lucky for me, there’s also a framelit for this butterfly in the Nature’s Thoughts Dies. I then added a strip of Mint Macaron Cardstock and a Smoky Slate Cardstock edgelit under the sentiment.

These coordination products are amazing and save you fussy-cutting time – that means you can spend more time creating fabulous projects!  Don’t forget, Demonstrators have exclusive access to these products now, so why don’t you give yourself a little New Years present and put in an order?

The next hop along the way is the wonderfully talented Nina Waldschmidt.  Click here or click on the badge below to take you to her blog and to continue on the hop.

Painted Poppies Class

Hey Everyone

Have been planning my first class for 2020 since early December. The cards are made and finally got a chance to photograph them over the weekend.

When creating projects for classes, I try and design matching cards to keep my supplies to a minimum – this is so I don’t have to cart half of my craft room to the house where I’m holding the class.  Plus the smaller amount of craft supplies I need, the less likely I am to forget something!

These are the cards I’ve created for our class using the Painted Poppies Stamp Set.

As you can see I have used minimal DSP on my cards.  Using minimal DSP means less cutting and more of it left in my craft room for me to play with!  The strip of DSP I’ve used on three of my cards is from Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper – available in the upcoming Sale-A-Bration Catalogue.  You can get this DSP for free when you spend $90 during the Sale-A-Bration period.

The strip of DSP I’ve cut is 3cm wide.  This strip was then cut at 9.1cm and then another 9.1 cm. The leftover piece is what I have used on this card below. I then worked out my card designs around the three pieces of DSP I had.  The background Whisper White cardstock has been embossed with my Mosaic 3D Embossing Folder. I cut a Pool Party Cardstock circle and layered my poppies and leaves around my sentiment – also from the Painted Poppies Stamp Set.

Similar to the card above, I’ve used my Mosaic 3D Embossing Folder for extra interest to the card.  I added the 9.1cm strip of striped DSP, a diecut from the Painted Labels Dies, a strip of Basic Black Cardstock and layered my flowers and leaves around the sentiment.  If you didn’t have the dies, as I know it’s hard to have everything when you first start out, then you could add a circle or rectangle piece of cardstock.

This layout was created with the 9.1cm strip of DSP, a strip of Basic Black Cardstock that I didn’t even measure….and a Whisper White circle.  I then placed my flowers and leaves around the sentiment.

Because I’d run out of DSP strips for my final card, instead of cutting another strip, I decided to keep this one clean and simple.  I daubed the background with Pool Party Ink and stamped the ink splatters in Black Memento Ink over the daubing.  After adding a strip of Pool Party and Basic Black Cardstock and a sentiment, my card was basically done.  All I had to do then was add my flower and leaves and one Basic Rhinestone because I just need a little something bling-y on it.

Thanks for stopping by.

Artisan Design Team Blog Hop – Tiny Keepsakes Bundle & Tags, Tags, Tags Bundle

Hey Everyone

The 2019 Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team are hopping for the final time this year.  It wasn’t until I started typing that it felt real and realised that year has gone by in the blink of an eye! I’ve had the BEST time with these fabulous and very creative gals.  We may’ve even had more than a few laughs. Actually, truthfully we’ve had a ton of laughs……mostly at me when Jackie was involved…… For the bottom of my heart I want to thank them all for their friendship, support, love and fun times and also a big thank you to Stampin’ Up! for this amazing opportunity xxx

The projects I’ve created for our final hop have been made with the Tiny Keepsakes Bundle and the Tags Tags Tags Bundle.

Next year we have a wedding in the family.  As the best aunt ever, I decided I would play around with wedding favour ideas just in case I’m asked to provide some. If not, then I’ll offload them throughout the year with a Ferrero Rocher inside them.

I’ve created two different types of favours cut with my Mini Curvy Keepsake Dies because I couldn’t decide which I liked best – Crumb Cake Cardstock or Vellum Cardstock.

For the Crumb Cake ones, I added a Whisper White Cardstock tag cut with my Trio of Tags Dies.  I added a sentiment stamped from the Mini Keepsakes Stamp Set on Crumb Cake Cardstock and cut with my 1″ Circle Punch.  I took a strip of Gold 3/8″ Metallic Edge Ribbon and wrapped it around the box and tied a bow on top. Because I couldn’t stop there with embellishments, I added some Braided Linen Trim, a vellum sprig and created some roses and leaves to pretty up my tags.

The vellum boxes have been created in the same way as the Crumb Cake ones. For these ones, I added a Crumb Cake Tag and the sentiment stamped on Whisper White Cardstock.

The roses have been made by punching a Blushing Bride Cardstock 1 1/2″ Circle.  I then used my scissors to cut in a circular motion until I got to the centre of the cardstock.  I scrunched up the circle in my hand to loosen the fibres and rolled it in to shape. Tombow Liquid Glue is the best thing to hold these roses together.  The leaves have also been created with the 1 1/2″ Circle Punch.  Once the Mossy Meadow circle was punched, I then used the same punch to cut out three leaf shapes from each circle.  All roses and leaves have been adhered to my tags with the holder of everything – Tombow Liquid Glue.

The next hop along the way is the very talented Rochelle Blok. She has created the sweetest projects that you will want to see.

Just Add Ink #487

Hey Everyone

The challenge for you at Just Add Ink is the last one for 2019.  So if you’re looking for some layout inspiration to get the last of your festive cards created, why don’t you join us for this challenge?

I’ve finished all of my festive cards for this year, so for this sketch, I created a feminine card using the Free As A Bird Stamp Set. The birds were stamped with Black Memento Ink and have been coloured with my Highland Heather and Purple Posy Blends.  The branches were given a light colour with my Crumb Cake and So Saffron Blends. After fussy cutting them out, I trimmed them and placed the images over the two circles.

The sentiment I’ve used is from the Perennial Birthday Stamp Set.  This was the sentiment that worked best for my layout.  The designer series paper strip that I’ve added to my card is from the Garden Lane Designer Series Paper pack.  The little rhinestones I’ve finished off my card with are called Noble Peacock Rhinestones.

The team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful cards that will inspire you. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #416

Hey Everyone

We have a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for you.  This fab sketch has been designed by the super talented Amy O’Neill. This happens to be the last challenge for 2019 while we take a break over the festive period.  The challenge will be open longer than normal, so you have plenty of time to create a card to link up to the challenge.

I was in love with this sketch as soon as I saw it.  I reached for my Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper pack and chose a piece of striped DSP. I then chose to create a feminine card rather than a masculine one you’d expect with this DSP.  I love that this DSP works for a feminine card. I added a piece of Balmy Blue Cardstock behind the DSP and went from there with the rest of my colour palette.

The images and sentiment I’ve used on my card are from Positive Thoughts Stamp Set – a stamp set that will be available to order in January from the 2020 Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalogue.  The gorgeous little butterfly has been stamped with Black Memento Ink and coloured with a combination of Night of Navy, Balmy Blue and Seaside Spray Blends. The leaves have been stamped with Soft Sea Foam Ink and have been fussy cut out. The blue rhinestones are Noble Peacock Rhinestones – pretty much my favourite rhinestones at the moment!

The cards the team have created are just gorgeous. Why don’t you click here and head over to the challenge to take a look?

Just Add Ink #486

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week is inspiration picture week and it’s a fabulous festive themed pic.

For the card I’ve created, I tried to emulate as many elements from the inspiration picture as much as possible.  The berry image I’ve used on my card is from the Frosted Foliage Stamp Set.  I’ve fussy cut two of these stems and coloured them with my Cherry Cobbler Blends.  For the striped table runner, I added some Cherry Cobbler 3/8″ Diagonal Strip Ribbon to my card as well as some Braided Linen Trim. For the gold element, I’ve added some Gold Glitter Enamel Dots.

The team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful cards using the inspiration pic. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #415

Hey Everyone

Sketches are my favourite way to start creating a card.  Sketch challenges were the first challenges I entered after I started my blog.  Freshly Made Sketches always has awesome sketches if you need ideas on a layout for your projects.  This weeks awesome sketch was designed by me!  Actually, I may’ve thrown this sketch together at the last minute, so not sure if it’s all that awesome…..

The card I’ve created uses a new-to-me stamp set called Timeless Tropical Stamp Set.  I coloured my hibiscus flower with a combination of Real Red and Mango Melody Blends.  I then added some shadows with my Smoky Slate Blends.  The leaves and palm trees have been stamped with Pretty Peacock Ink and fussy cut out.  As the palm tree image is actually shorter than what I wanted for my card, I trimmed of the lower stems and lengthened the look of the trees by hiding the gap under the flower.  The sentiment I’ve used is also from the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set.  To give my background a beach-y theme, I daubed Balmy Blue Ink from top to bottom of my card.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have made my sketch look GOOD! Pop over to the challenge and see how creative they are!

Thanks for stopping by.

Artisan Design Team – Sale-a-Bration 2020 Sneak Peak Blog Hop

Hey Everyone

We have a special hop for you today!  The 2019 Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team have created projects using various stamp sets from the 2020 Sale-A-Bration Catalogue.

Sale-A-Bration pre-earn is finally here from 3 December 2019 to 2 January 2020! This means that demonstrators can earn items in the Sale-A-Bration Shop offering early. For every $90 AUD/$110 NZD or $180 AUD/$220 NZD you spend, you choose a free item from the Sale-A-Bration brochure that matches the level you spent. Demonstrators can even use the pre-order of the January–June mini catalogue and purchase items from that catalogue or any other current catalogue, and earn free Sale-A-Bration products! If you aren’t a demonstrator yet, this is a great sneak peek to see what is in store for Sale-A-Bration beginning 3 January 2020!

The card I created is made with the Lovely Lily Pad Stamp Set. Before designing my card, I googled waterlilies to get some ideas on colours and how I would use this stamp set.  My initial thought was to use the waterlily stamp and create a flowery/leafy creation, but instead I went with a realistic waterlily pond card.

I started with some Balmy Blue Ink and a dauber.  I daubed until I had a background that I was happy with and that would give my waterlilies and lily pads a watery base.  On my google search, I found that waterlilies can be many colours, so I went with a deep red.  I stamped the outline of the waterlily with Black Memento Ink and coloured the petals with Cherry Cobbler Blends.  To give depth and definition to the flower, I added shadows to the centre of the waterlilies with my Smoky Slate Blends. The leaves have been coloured lightly with Mint Macaron Blends.

One of the best things about this stamp set is that it has reversible stamps! You might be wondering what that is, so I will explain how I used them on this card.  Once you’ve stamped your outline of your image and clean it off, you can turn the stamp over on your block and it will stamp the solid image.  Each of the stamp set images have the reversible solid stamp, so if you’re not a colourer like me, then you can let the stamp do all the work!  I think this card is suited more for the avid crafter with all the colouring, daubing and fussy cutting.  But you can simplify this card using the reversible stamp to colour the image and the matching dies that are also available during the Sale-A-Bration period.
I used the reversible stamp on each of my lily pads to give them Mossy Meadow centres.  Because I wanted a deeper colour for them, I inked up the image and stamped it three times. It then gave me a variance in the ink and a shadowy look on the pads.
I then added a sentiment from the Perennial Birthday Stamp Set as I felt it matched my card and a single rhinestone from Noble Peacock Rhinestones.
Don’t forget that Sale-A-Bration pre-order for demonstrators starts today (3rd December).  This is an exclusive benefit for demonstrators to get your hands on these amazing products early.  For your customers and friends, they will be able to order from 3rd January.

The next project featuring SAB products for you to see if my friend, Rochelle Blok.  I know she has created the most gorgeous card for you to see.  Click here or on the badge below to take you to her blog.
