Just Add Ink #405

Hey Everyone

Welcome to a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  Every week we have a new challenge for you.  This week is inspiration picture week.  Take a look at these gorgeous warm neutral colours in the pic!

My inspiration of course was from the woodgrain and neutral colours I found in the picture.  Initially I was going to go all earthy with a leafy card, but spied the little vase of white flowers on the bed side table on the left of the picture.  Of course I had to go with a flowery creation!

I chose to use my Orchid Builder Framelit Dies to create white orchids and then used my Climbing Orchid stamp set to stamp the centre of the orchid.  I then added some yellow to the centre of the flower as it looked a little plain with just the black stamping on it.  I then used a combination of leaves from my Botanical Builder Framelit Dies.

The sentiment I’ve used is from Stampin’ Up!s Petal Palette.  I stamped my sentiment in Early Espresso Ink. The designer series paper strips I’ve layered on my card are from Wood Textures Designer Series Paper.  I can’t believe I only recently purchased this pack…….but so glad I did!

I totally adore all the cards the team have created.  Head over to Just Add Ink and take a look at their wonderful cards.  We would love it if you could join us with this challenge.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #333

Hey Everyone

It’s my turn to be sketch hostess this week at Freshly Made Sketches.  We would love it if you could play along with our challenge.

You know I love circles, so of course of I had to put them on my sketch:

I caught up with my niece on Christmas day and she told me her exciting news that I was going to be a Great Aunt again! Or should I say she’s going to be a first time mum?  I’d like to think it was about me too, but it really is all about her….. Her baby is due in May and she’s going to have a little boy.  I chose this teepee stamp from Stampin’ Up!s Little One to use for her baby card and the sentiment I’ve used is from Sunshine Wishes.  I’m hoping she likes it!

Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what the team have created – as always you know they’re going to be creative cards!

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #332

Hey Everyone

Every Wednesday we have a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches for you to try. This week our sketch has been designed by my fellow “Down Under” card creator Karren Johnson. Kiwis and Aussies are called this as our countries are below many of the other countries on the globe. Karren is the Queen of Backgrounds and truly gorgeous cards. Head over to her blog and take a look at her wonderful cards.

This is my first Christmas card for 2018! Pretty chuffed with myself for starting my cards in April rather than leaving them until the last minute as I’ve done before…..many times in fact.

The holly I’ve used for my card is from Holly Berry Happiness.  I gave my leaves a seriously quick watercolour with Old Olive Ink and my berries are coloured with Cherry Cobbler Ink.  I used the solid stamp from the set to colour the berries.  I then fussy cut them all out and raised them with Mini Dimensionals.

The sentiment is stamped in Basic Black Ink and is also from Holly Berry Happiness.  I had a strip of Sahara Sand Cardstock laying on my desk and decided to add it under the sentiment as I liked this colour combo together.  I then added a strip of striped DSP from Merry Little Christmas DSP.

The background ink splatter stamped in Basic Black Ink is from Swirly Bird.  I wasn’t too sure about using black for the ink splatters, but it’s grown on me the more I look at it.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created amazing cards using Karren’s sketch. Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Colour INKspiration #31

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new colour challenge at Colour INKspiration!

Take a look at these pretty colours:

If you have been hopping along you will have come from Rachel Palmieri’s awesome card.  If not, don’t worry you can follow the hop and start again.  Colour INKspiration is a Facebook Group where you can share your card and be inspired by the creativity there.

I knew as soon as I saw these colours I wanted to use Petal Palette.  I also knew I would need a lot of white space to make all of these colours work.  If in doubt…..use lots of white space!  So here’s what I came up with:

The next hop along the way is the wonderfully talented Julia Quinn.  Head over to her blog and take a look at her gorgeous projects.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #403

Hey Everyone

Happy Friday everyone! We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink for you.  This week is a colour challenge.  Take a look at our colours below:

Ok, not gonna lie.  When I saw these colours, I had absolutely NO idea how I was going to combine them!  I soon got over myself and came up with a card that I have to say……I love!

I’ve used Petal Palette again (because it’s my favourite) and mainly because it works with any colours!  I wasn’t sure if Bermuda Bay would work for the leaves, but used lightly, I think it almost passed for a green.  I was able to add gold to my card with thread, sequins and a sentiment.  The Fresh Fig DSP is from Eastern Palace Specialty DSP.

The team at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous cards that are all so very different. Head over to the challenge and take a look.  We would love it if you could play along.

Thanks for stopping by.

CAS(E) this Sketch #265

Hey Everyone

CAS(E) this Sketch has a fabulous sketch this week.  As I’m on hols with family, I’ve only today managed to find some time to create a card for the challenge.  I’ve been trying to sneak away all week to play along!

I am in LOVE with these leaves from Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies.  I knew I wanted to use them as soon as I saw the sketch.  I cut off a strip of the stripe-y DSP from Merry Little Christmas DSP that I thought worked perfectly with the sketch.  What colour works best with Old Olive?  Crumb Cake……however, I forgot to bring some with me…..  The only cardstock I had in a similar colour was the backing board from a make and take from an Onstage Event that I had somehow packed. Even though it’s not quite Crumb Cake, I think it works well.  As this backing board is really thick the die wouldn’t cut the entire way through so my leaves were a little crushed when I separated them.  I figure that’s how leaves look when they’ve fallen to the ground anyway.

The sentiment that I’ve used was chosen because it fit in my Label Punch.  The sentiment is from Petal Palette.  I added a bit of a washed look behind the sentiment with my Old Olive Watercolor Pencil.

I just noticed my ribbon is a tad offline at the top……I’ve now lined it up properly, but have already put away my light tent and it’s too late to pull it out again to take another photo.

Here’s my card:

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #331

Hey Everyone

Oh I love a sketch challenge! I’ve probably said this before, but they are truly my favourite!  The cool sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches has been designed by the seriously talented Cecile Ribon.

Take a look at her sketch:

The die I’ve used in the background on my card is from Flourish Thinlits Dies.  I’ve used Smoky Slate for these lattice type dies.  The pretty little flowers I watercoloured are from Better Together.  I’ve coloured them in a combination of pinks – Blushing Bride and Melon Mambo.  The leaves, that you can probably tell are my favourite at the moment, are from Petal Palette.  I’ve stamped them in Pear Pizzazz and then fussy cut them out.

To add a little bit of interest to the background, I stamped the ink splatters from Swirly Bird in the combination of Blushing Bride and Melon Mambo Inks.  The sentiment I’ve used is stamped in Black Archival Ink is also from Better Together.  As you can see, by using this sentiment, I’ve created another wedding card for my collection. Think I have a total of two now….

Our Clean Team have created gorgeous cards with Cecile’s sketch. Head over to the challenge and take a look.  While you’re there you will see we have a new GD playing along with us this month – the uber talented Tracey Mehak McNeely! It’s so exciting to have her on the team!

Thanks for stopping by.
