Just Add Ink #382

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink!  This week is a colour challenge.  Have a look a the fabulous colour combo we have for you:

Now you’d probably think I’d go with a flowery card for this colour combo, but I decided to change it up and use these colours for a man card.  It’s been a while since I’ve made a masculine card so I thought I’d challenge myself with these colours.

The Stampin’ Up! stamp set I’ve used on my card is called High Tide.  My lighthouse is stamped with Fresh Fig and Smoky Slate.  The strip of DSP I’ve used is from Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper.  I also added a strip of Basic Black cardstock, well because I really love to layer.  No sequins on a man card unfortunately, so I added some Black Bakers Twine to finish it off.

The design team at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous cards with these colours.  I love how different we have all used them.  Head over to the challenge and take a look.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers

Freshly Made Sketches #309

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday and we’ve had a hot one here in Australia! It’s not even Summer yet and I was melting!!!  Think it’s going to be hot Summer……truly not looking forward to it arriving.  I’m a Winter lover!

This weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches has been designed by the superbly talented and super funny Linda Callahan.  This one’s a keeper for sure Linda!

Christmas is on my mind at the moment as someone said to me the other day it was less than 70 days until Santa arrives.  I hadn’t thought it was so close!  I’ve took this weeks sketch and created a Chrissy card to add to my stash.

I wanted to go with the following colours for my card:  Black, White, Green and Copper.  I’ve layered my circles with leaves and pinecone from Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies.  I added a strip of Striped Ribbon and Copper Trim to my layers and I’ve used Copper Embossing Powder for the sentiment.  The sentiment is from a Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Flurry of Wishes.  The DSP circle in the background is from Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper.

Here’s my card:

The girls at Freshly Made Sketches have nailed this weeks sketch – head over to the challenge and see for yourself!

Thanks for stopping by.

October Christmas Class

Hey Everyone

I LOVE Christmas time and I LOVE my Christmas classes.  While I was on holidays recently I made the following projects for my class girls.  There’s quite an overload of photos, so I hope you’re ready for them!

Stampin’ Up! Pizza Boxes are the coolest and most easiest boxes to put together. We made 4 simple gift cards to put in the boxes to give to someone as a gift.  The designer series paper I’ve used is from Be Merry Designer Series Paper.  I’ve added a thin strip of Basic Black cardstock on the front the gift cards and box.  The sentiment is from Better Together and I’ve punched them out with my Pretty Label Punch.  To add a little bling (but not too much, as not everyone keeps handmade cards) we added a black sequin.

For the front of the Pizza Box, I cut some white trees cut with my Card Front Builder Thinlits Dies.  For a different look, some of the girls cut Old Olive trees – both looked fabulous I have to say.  I also added a strip of Basic Black cardstock and some Black Bakers Twine.  Oh and as always, a black sequin.

We also made two simple cards using the same designer series paper we used on the Pizza Box and gift cards.

My first card uses a strip of DSP from Be Merry Designer Series Paper on the side of my card.  I added some Old Olive trees that were cut with my Card Front Builder Thinlits Dies.  I then cut the sentiment with my retired Wonderful Wreath Framelits Dies.

For our second card, I layered Old Olive trees cut with my Santa Sleigh Framelits Die, a circle, a Pretty Label Punch with a sentiment from Holly Berry Happiness.  To tie in with the other card I used a strip of DSP, Basic Black cardstock and Black Bakers Twine.  A simple black sequin finishes this card off.

You will probably remember this card I made for our 300th sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  I love this card and I think the girls did too!

I think Bundle of Love Speciality Designer Series Paper works really well for Christmas and for our class, I also made a pink one below, to show that Christmas doesn’t always need to be red and green.

Thanks for stopping by.

CAS(E) this Sketch #243 & Color Throwdown Countdown #464

Hey Everyone

I hope you’ve all having a wonderful weekend.  I am because I was able to spend some time in my craft room.  It’s always a bonus when I spend some time to play!

The card I’m sharing today is for two challenges – the sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch and the colour challenge at Color Throwdown Countdown.

Here are the challenge pics:

You probably know by now that Graceful Garden is a favourite set of mine. I find it relaxing to watercolour and fussy cut these gorgeous roses.  The colours I’ve used to watercolour them is Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum.  The sentiment I’ve used is from Blooms & Wishes and I’ve stamped this in Basic Black Archival Ink. My leaves are coloured with Old Olive.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #308

Hey Everyone

Holidays are great, but not so great when you come home and unpack your craft stuff and realise your husband has packed his tool box on your recently made card for this weeks sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches……  My card was crushed and I realised I needed a re-do at the last minute last night to photograph and upload to our challenge blog.  I will need to make sure my husband doesn’t pack the car next time we go on holidays!

This weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches has been designed by the super talented and perfect colourist, Rita Wright.  Here’s her wonderful sketch:

Happy Birthday Gorgeous has gorgeous little flowers that I love using.  They have a solid stamp that lines up perfectly to colour the flowers in no time.  The colours I’ve used for the centre of my flowers are Berry Burst, Powder Pink and Blushing Bride.  The leaves that I have used are from Flourish Thinlits Dies and I have used a combination of Olive Old and Berry Burst cardstock.

The birthday sentiment I’ve used is from Big on Birthdays.  The pretty DSP I’ve used in the background is from Bundle of Love Speciality DSP.  I then used a strip of Berry Burst cardstock to tie all of the colours and flowers together.

Here’s my card:

We would love if it you could join us with Rita’s sketch.  Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and take a look at the wonderful inspiration from the Clean Team.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #380

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink for you.  This week the sketch has been designed by me.  I’ve created a simple sketch that can be interpreted in so many different ways.

I really love non-traditional colours for Christmas cards and I really love featuring black on them.  The only stamping I did on this card is the sentiment.  This Christmas sentiment is a new favourite of mine.  It’s from a Stampin’ Up stamp set called Better Together.  The pine boughs I added for layering are cut with my Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies.

To create a border around my sentiment (that was punched with my Pretty Label Punch), I used a die from Eastern Medallions Thinlits Dies.  As I wanted to create more of a oval shape to frame the sentiment, I cut the diecut through the centre and overlapped it under the sentiment.

I then layered some Burlap Ribbon and a half strip of this gorgeous Striped Ribbon as I had them both sitting unused on my desk. The strip of designer series paper was also sitting unused on my desk.  This pretty paper is from Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I always love it when I can use up discarded products laying around on my desk. It kind of makes me feel like I’m getting somewhere on cleaning up my desk!

Here’s my card:

The girls in the design team have created gorgeous cards to inspire you.  Head over to the challenge and take a look at their creations.  We would love it if you could play along with this sketch challenge.
