Freshly Made Sketches #430

Hey Everyone

We have a new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch has been designed by the talented Jacquie Southas.

Before I started my card, I’d decided to use a different colour combination for me.  I chose Petal Pink and Call Me Clover – a combination I haven’t used before.  In fact, Call Me Clover would be the only green that hasn’t seen much ink on my projects. In order of greens, I would reach first for Pear Pizzazz, then Old Olive, Mint Macaron and then Soft Sea Foam.

I like to rotate my floral stamp sets so they all get a bit of love from me and so you don’t see the same images over and over on my cards. It was time that I used the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set and especially this Hibiscus Flower image.   I stamped the flowers in Black Memento Ink and then coloured the petals with Petal Pink Blends and Mango Melody Blends.  I took my Smoky Slate Blends and added colour around the centre of the flower to create depth to the image. The leaves have been coloured with my Call Me Clover Blends.

I used this script piece of DSP from Parisian Blossoms Specialty Designer Series Paper, because it’s Petal Pink and because I love it so much!  I added a Call Me Clover Cardstock diecut, cut with my Stitched Nested Labels Dies. I love me some bling, so I added some Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels. Finally, I had a wood edgelit from the Country Club Elements sitting on my desk, so it got added to my card.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards using this weeks sketch.  Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Just Add Ink #499

Hey Everyone

The design team at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous cards for their newest challenge.  This week the challenge is a colour challenge. Here’s the colour palette we have for you.

I chose to combine the colours using a Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Free As A Bird Stamp Set.  To start my card, .I sponged the background with Blushing Bride Ink. I cut Whisper White and Blushing Bride Cardstock diecuts using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies.  I then stamped the bird image from the Free As A Bird Stamp Set with Black Memento Ink. The birds have been coloured with my Highland Heather Blends and the leaves have been a light colour with Balmy Blue Blends.  I then went to town with fussy cutting the image out. Once I layered the image, I felt it was a little bare on the bottom left side, so I stamped the single flower and leaves from the Free As A Bird Stamp Set and added them to give more balance. The little pearls I’ve used on my card have been coloured with the Dark Petal Pink Blend – as close to Blushing Bride as I could get.

We would love it if you could play along with the challenge. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what the team have created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketch #429

Hey Everyone

There’s a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches and it’s a great one!  Our fabulous sketch has been designed by the fabulously talented Judy Rozema.

I love the softness of the colours in the Parisian Blossoms Specialty Designer Series Paper.  These pretty Pool Party and Petal Pink papers were the starting point for my card.  I then chose the images I wanted to use on my card.  I used a combination of images from the Forever Blossoms Stamp Set and the Parisian Beauty Stamp Set.

The Eiffel Tower is from the Parisian Beauty Stamp Set. I stamped the image in Black Memento Ink and added some colour with my Smoky Slate Blends.  The flowers and leaves are from the Forever Blossoms Stamp Set.  After inking them up with Black Memento Ink, I gave them some colour with my Petal Pink and Mint Macaron Blends.  I took my Journaling Pen and added some definition around the centre of the flowers.

The sentiment I’ve added to my card is from the Forever Blossoms Stamp Set.  I trimmed the sentiment in half and layered it over the Eiffel Tower.  I then added three Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels. I may very well be in love with them and am on my second packet already.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards using the sketch.  Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #428

Hey Everyone

Welcome to another Wednesday and another sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by the super talented Amy O’Neill.  Amy’s cards are always lovely, full of fabulous colours and elegant.

It was time I inked up the Happy Birthday To You Stamp Set.  This stamp set lets me continue my love of colouring with my Blends.  I gave the flowers some colour with the Light Purple Posy Blend and I outlined the petals with the Dark Highland Heather Blend.  I coloured the centre of the flower with the Dark Smoky Slate Blend.  The leaves have been coloured with Mint Macaron Blends.  The tiny flower buds have been given colour with the Dark Cherry Cobbler Blend. The DSP I’ve used on my card is from the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper.

This card is different for me as I’ve used Gorgeous Grape on Gorgeous Grape Cardstock.  Normally I use a Whisper White Cardstock base, but thought it was time I mixed it up and tried a coloured card base. The layer of cardstock has been embossed with my Mosaic 3D Embossing Folder. To give some bling to my card, I coloured three Basic Rhinestones with my Dark Highland Heather Blend. To finish off my card, I added a Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding bow.

I love all the cards the Clean Team have created.  Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #497

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge for you to play along with at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge for you is a sketch challenge:

It was only after I took my photo did I realise two things – my sentiment is a tad skewed (will fix this tomorrow) and I may’ve got the layering a little wrong….  My excuse is I had a busy weekend and hurriedly put together this card after a card class on Sunday.  I’m blaming weary eyes and not enough concentration….

I thought it was time that I created a man card. I don’t have as much need for a masculine cards as as I do with my feminine ones, but my man card stash was getting a little low.  The stamp set I chose for this card is called Sailing Home Stamp Set.  I stamped the three images and gave them some colour with some blends.  I fussy cut them out and put them aside until I’d daubed the background with some Pool Party Ink.  I placed my images on the card and then decided I needed more details, so I stamped the birds on the card base – I then felt I had enough details.

I adhered all my images, sentiment and Linen Thread. Lastly, I really roughed up the Linen Thread and pulled it apart in places and stuck it in place with Glue Dots.

The team at Just Add Ink have created fab cards with the design. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Artisan Design Team – Best Dressed Suite & Sale-A-Bration Second Release Blog Hop

Hey Everyone

It’s time for another Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team Hop.

Sale-A-Bration is an exciting time of the year—and it just got even better with more fantastic products to
earn! More products mean more creative possibilities to experiment with!  Sale-A-Bration would have to be my favourite time of year. For every AU$90 I spend from the Annual Catalogue or the January – June Mini Catalogue, I earn a free Sale-A-Bration item! Who wouldn’t love free product just for doing what I normally do?  Spending is pretty easy with the current catalogues we have.

Sale-A-Bration is available until 31st March and now there’s more items to choose from with a Second Release Brochure. The Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team have created one project using products from the January – June Mini Catalogue and the second project showcases items from the second release earned during the SAB period.

The card I created on the left has been made with the following items from the Mini Catalogue:

  • Dressed To Impress Stamp Set $31.00.
  • Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ .Designer Series Paper $20.00
  • Best Dressed Tassels $14.00
  • Thick Whisper White Cardstock $14.25
  • Petal Pink Cardstock $15.25
  • Petal Pink Ink $13.00.

By buying these products and spending AU$90, you then qualify for a Sale-A-Bration item free.  You can choose your free item from the first or second Sale-A-Bration brochure.

To create my card, I stamped one of the background stamps from the Dressed To Impress Stamp Set with Petal Pink Ink.  I then fussy cut a combination of flowers and perfume bottles from the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper.  The sentiment I’ve added to my card is from the Dressed To Impress Stamp Set also.  The sentiment has been stamped in Black Memento Ink. I added a strip of Petal Pink Cardstock under the sentiment to tie all the colours together.  One of the Best Dressed Tassels finished off my card.

For my second card I added a flower from the Flowering Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper. This pack of DSP is the item that I earned free for spending $90 before 31st March. As you can see, I fussy cut the flower and leaves directly from one of the papers. This pack of DSP is perfect for the avid crafter! The images and patterns on this DSP are perfect for adding colour to.  You can sponge, brayer, daub or use your Blends like I’ve done.

The flower is coloured with my Petal Pink Blends and the little buds are coloured with my Calypso Coral Blends.  I gave the leaves some colour with both of my Old Olive Blends. The bottle of perfume is from the Dressed To Impress Stamp Set. It’s been coloured with my Petal Pink Blends and Smoky Slate Blends.  You can’t quite see it in the photo, but I also gave some glitter to the lid of the bottle with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. I had one fussy cut bloom left over from my first project, so I added it to near the lid of the bottle.  To be consistent, and to tie it in with my first card, I added a Best Dressed Tassel to my perfume bottle.

Dont forget! The Sale-A-Bration earning period ends on March 31, 2020. To get your hands on these products, make sure you get your order in by then.

The next amazing Artisan Design Team member on the hop is the talented Nina Waldschmidt.  Click here to take you to her blog, click here or on the button below.  Make sure you check out the whole hop to see the wonderful designs the team have created.

Freshly Made Sketches #426

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog!  Every Wednesday the Freshly Made Sketches Design Team have a new sketch challenge for you to play along with. This week our sketch has been designed by my friend from down-under, Karren Johnson.

I think I may be addicted to the Dressed To Impress Stamp Set and Best Dressed DSP…… I love combining the images from the stamp set with fussy cut images from the DSP.

The designer series paper I’ve used in the background is from the Golden Honey DSP.  Black and white striped DSP is always very striking and is the perfect base for the pinks and greens in the images I’ve added to my card. I couldn’t resist adding a Best Dressed Tassel and some Gilded Gems Embellishments – never have enough pretties on my cards!

The girls at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards using the sketch as inspiration.  Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #495

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge for you to play along with at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge for you is to:

I’m all about comfort zone and when I saw this challenge, I may’ve panicked.  I was trying to think how I could combine all the colours of a rainbow on my card.  After my initial panic, I realised the challenge of combining the colours wouldn’t be as hard as I thought if I used the colours on these fabulous lipsticks from the Dressed To Impress Stamp Set.  I layered my card with Gorgeous Grape Cardstock and this pretty DSP from Best Dressed DSP.  The sentiment I’ve used is from the Dressed To Impress Stamp Set – love this matching sentiment for my lippy’s!

The team at Just Add Ink have created fabulous cards for the challenge.  Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created. While you’re there, we would love it if you could play along.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #425

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches! This week our sketch designer is the fabulously talented Cecile Ribon. I LOVE this sketch and wished that I could design one as cool as this!

Something I haven’t done until recently, is fussy cut my DSP.  I have always been a hoarder of DSP and only used it sparingly. Many of the SU paper packs have perfectly coloured images that are made for cutting out.  Bird Ballad DSP is one of those packs that has amazing images to cut and adhere directly to a card. The banner pieces I’ve used in the background on my card are also from this pack.  I raised the three banner pieces with Dimensionals and added some Linen Thread around them.  I then tied a Linen Thread bow amongst the flowers – hopefully you can see it.

The only stamping I did on this card is the sentiment.  The sentiment is from the Free As A Bird Stamp Set.  This really was a quick and easy card and came together in no time.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards to inspire. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #424

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday, so that means we have a new sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch has been designed by the super talented Jennifer Brum.

I channelled Jen with the colours I’ve used on my card today.  She has used this gorgeous colour combo in the past and I wanted to emulate her striking colour choices. Daffodil Delight Blends gave my poppies, from the Painted Poppies Stamp Set, colour. The leaves I’ve added to my card have been coloured with my Old Olive Blends.

The sentiment I’ve used on my card is from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set.  I matted this sentiment with diecut from the Peaceful Poppies Elements.  The black banner is also from this pack. I love how black makes any image pop when layered behind it.  To add more texture, I embossed the background Whisper White Cardstock with my Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created gorgeous cards that will no doubt inspire you to create a card and join in this weeks challenge.

Thanks for stopping by.
