Just Add Ink #437

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge for you at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge for you is to:

I really wanted to be super creative and think of an amazing project starting with I….. nothing came to me at the time so I went with the same stamp set I used on my previous card – Incredible Like You.  This two step flower stamp set creates perfect definition to the flowers but I gave it a little extra in using my white gel pen to add some stamen to the centre of the flower.  The flowers have been stamped in Grapefruit Grove.  The initial stamped has been stamped off once on scrap paper so the colour is lighter.  I then inked up the second stamp and stamped over the top to give it those petal lines.

The leaves are also a two step stamp – I’ve stamped these in Soft Sea Foam.  Looking at the card now, I wish I had’ve used a darker green so that they stood out a little more…..oh well, I don’t mind them in this soft colour.

The sentiment is also stamped in Soft Sea Foam.  This sentiment is also from Incredible Like You.  I tied a bow in White Bakers Twine and layered it under my flowers.

The Soft Sea Foam designer series paper strip was an off-cut I had sitting on my desk.  I was determined to use it up, so that was start of my card design.  I also had the Pearlized Doily on my desk, so I managed to sneak that on to my card too.

The Design Team at Just Add Ink have created awesome projects starting with the letter I.  Head over to the challenge and take a look.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #366

Hey Everyone

Welcome to our newest challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week we have some exciting news!

For the next two weeks we are thrilled to announce a Design Team call!  Yes, we are looking to add to our fun team of enablers.  All the details to apply the Design Team are on the challenge blog.

On to the sketch.  This week our cool sketch has been designed by our fabulous sketch designer and ultra elegant card make Cecile Ribon.

So my initial thought was to replicate a Christmas tree like the sketch, but I decided to change things up and go with a layered floral card.

I received Incredible Like You at our recent Stampin’ Up! Onstage Event.  Of course I was in love with it as it’s a flower set and you know how much I love them.  I’ve stamped my flowers in Lovely Lipstick and fussy cut them out.  I then stamped my leaves from Petal Palette in Mossy Meadow Ink and gave them the same fussy cut treatment as the flowers.

The designer series paper I’ve used in the background is from my 6″ x 6″ Subtles DSP stack.  From memory I used a piece of Soft Sea Foam.  I then matted it with some Mossy Meadow Cardstock.  I added some bakers twine and a sentiment stamped in Mossy Meadow, also from Incredible Like You.  The font used for the sentiments in this set are so pretty and elegant.

Head over to Freshly Made Sketches to see what the talented cardmakers at Freshly Made Sketches have designed and while you’re there, read all about our Design Team Call.

Just Add Ink #436

Hey Everyone

Sketches are my favourite inspiration for card making.  This week I’ve designed the sketch for our challenge at Just Add Ink.  Here’s the sketch I’ve designed for you:

For this card, I started with my choice of DSP first.  Sitting on my desk is the gorgeous Joyous Noel Specialty DSP – I don’t think it’s even made it to my paper storage racks yet as it’s being used so often.  I have to probably say the same about my Merry Christmas To All Bundle – it hasn’t made it to my shelf once because I seem to be using it on every second card….. The sentiments are both from this bundle.  The sprigs I’ve punched are made with Pear Pizzazz Cardstock and apart from the Silver Metallic Ribbon I’ve used, I’ve kept this card pretty simple.

The girls at Just Add Ink have created awesome cards with this weeks sketch. Pop over to the challenge and take a look at their creations.

Freshly Made Sketches #365

Hey Everyone

This weeks fabulous sketch at Freshly Made Sketches has been designed by my wonderfully talented friend from the other side of the world, Jen Brum.

Another Christmas card? Why not?  You just never know when you’re going to be surprised with card you didn’t expect to receive.

Joyous Noel Speciality Designer Series Paper is one gorgeous pack.  I didn’t expect to love it as much as I do and now I am almost running out of it.  I really should’ve purchased two…. Both the pretty rectangles of DSP are from this pack.  I added sprigs punched in Tranquil Tide Cardstock and Vellum.  I layered my sentiment, from Merry Christmas To All, on a piece of Sahara Sand Cardstock punched with my Darling Label Punch.  I then added a strip of Striped Burlap Trim and some Linen Thread looped behind everything.

The team have created gorgeous inspiration for you – head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #165

Hey Everyone

Directly after Onstage, I left for a 10 day holiday on the Gold Coast in Queensland.  It was so good to feel the sun on my face everyday and basically unwind.  On my return, of course I had to play with this face……and dodge her sharp teeth! She is Eden, my 11 week old silly puppy.

My craft room was calling to me as soon as I got up this morning.  It’s been over two weeks since I’ve created and I was hanging to touch my new goodies.  I found the following colour challenge at Global Design Project to play along with – how perfect are these colours for Christmas?

Oh these colours are just gorgeous together – so rich and elegant.  It’s hard to pick a favourite side when it comes to choices of Joyous Noel Specialty DSP. I’ve used a piece of Merry Merlot and a strip of Tranquil Tide DSPs on my card. I added a rectangle piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock and an embossed circle for texture.

These holly images are from Joyous Noel Stamp Set.  I’ve stamped them in Merry Merlot Ink with the centre of them being stamped off once on a scrap piece of paper.  My leaves are made with my Sprig Punch and Tranquil Tide Cardstock.  I scrounged through my Baker’s Twine tray and found a spool of Baker’s Twine that may or may not be Tranquil Tide – I can’t remember where it came from.  GDP Team – forgive me if it’s not the correct colour!

The sentiment I’ve used is also from Joyous Noel Stamp Set.  I’ve stamped it in Merry Merlot Ink directly on to Crumb Cake Cardstock.  The sweet little pearls are from Share What You Love Artisan Pearls.

Here’s what I created:

Colour INKspiration #45

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Colour INKspiration Challenges.  To see what everyone is making and to link up your card to our facebook page – click here.

This week the challenge for you is to create a project using 1, 2, 3, 4 or all 5 of the 2017-2019 In Colours.  Easy peasy!

The challenge I gave myself was to create a Christmas card using colours from the 5 above.  In the end I chose 2 of them – Tranquil Tide and Powder Pink.

I only had one lot of stamping on this card – the “Christmas” sentiment from Merry Christmas To All.  I really do love this sentiment paired with the “Merry” Thinlit from Merry Christmas Thinlits Dies.  I then went to town cutting pine leaves from Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies in a combination of Tranquil Tide and Powder Pink Cardstocks.

The designer series paper layered in the background is from Joyous Noel Specialty DSP.  I then added a strip of Whisper White Cardstock embossed with Swirls and Curls Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

As always, we have a blog hop to showcase our designs.  The next hop along the way is the super creative Tanya Bell.  You can click below to take you to see her amazing creation.

2018 Stampin’ Up! Onstage Event Roomies Gifts

Hey Everyone

I have just spent the past weekend with amazing friends at our local Stampin’ Up! Onstage Event in Melbourne.  This year Stampin’ Up! is celebrating 30 years and I have to say we were a little bit spoilt by this amazing company.

I roomed with 4 fabulous friends from the Just Add Ink Design Team – Nikki, Patrice, Kim & Jan. Even though the event is only a one day event, we stayed for two nights.  Even then, two nights didn’t seem long enough as we only catch up once a year, and we have way too many things to chat about to fit into two nights.

My roomies gifts were given in these tall gift boxes I created.  When I’m stuck for 3D ideas, I visit Pootles for her fabulous tutorials.  I found the following tutorial that fit my gifts perfectly!

What to give for roomies gifts was on my mind for ages.  This year my mum gave me the idea of giving Raspberry Drops made in Sovereign Hill. Sovereign Hill is a tourist attraction depicting the gold rush in the goldfields from the 1850s. I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned I grew up in a little country town called Creswick, located about 15 minutes outside of Ballarat.  These Raspberry Drops are what I remember from growing up and visiting Sovereign Hill.  I have to thank my dad for buying them for me as I ran out of time before Onstage to drive from Melbourne to purchase them.

The boxes I’ve created are made from Sahara Sand Cardstock.  For extra support and decoration, I added strips of Basic Black and Whisper White Cardstocks to each of the four sides of the boxes.  The lid of the boxes is made from Basic Black Cardstock.  I decorated the top of the boxes with a mixture of thinlits from Flourish Thinlits Dies and my favourite flowers from Petal Palette.  I then added some Rich Razzleberry Velvet Ribbon and some Black Cord. The sentiment I’ve used is from a set called Waterfront – I really felt this sentiment fit for the weekend we had.
