Artisan Design Team Blog Hop – Come Sail Away Suite

Hey Everyone

I’m always excited when it’s time for the Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop, but I’m super excited this month as we are using my favourite Suite at the moment – Come Sail Away Suite!

I’ve created two cards and a gift bag filled with Ferrero Rocher’s that I may or may not have eaten since I took this photo….

I’ve created these projects with a class or workshop in mind.  They’re very clean and simple and don’t use many products, so perfect for the stamper who’s just getting started.

For my first card, I’ve cut a circle out of my card base (I held on to the circle for my second card) and added this fabulous striped DSP from Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper under my raised card base.  I then stamped the lighthouse, compass and sentiment all from the Sailing Home Stamp Set.  I watercoloured the lighthouse and compass with Soft Suede Ink and Pear Pizzazz Inks and raised them up with Mini Dimensionals.  I then took the rope die and cut some Basic Gray and Night of Navy Cardstock edgelits.  Sail Away Trinkets are the perfect accessory to add to any project.  For this card, I added the little anchor and tied some Night of Navy/Sahara Sand Baker’s Twine to it and adhered it all with Glue Dots.

It was only after I’d assembled my card, that I thought it looked a little bare on the top left side of the card.  Quite gingerly I stamped the trio of birds stamp and luckily I didn’t leave any Night of Navy Ink residue around them – I have a habit of not checking my stamp for excess ink and end up ruining projects….does that happen to anyone else?

For my second card, I daubed the card base with Pool Party Ink, added the circle I’d cut from my first card and a DSP circle.  To tie in with the first card, I also added Basic Gray and Night of Navy rope edgelits.  Because I like details on my cards, I added some Night of Navy/Sahara Sand Baker’s Twine and placed it quite haphazardly across my card.  I then applied Night of Navy and Soft Suede Inks directly to my yacht stamp with my markers and stamped them on to Whisper White Cardstock.  The sentiment is stamped in Night of Navy Ink and cut with a die from the Smooth Sailing Dies.

I like to create a matching gift box or bag when holding a class.  For this project, I’ve used a Gusseted Cellophane Bag and added a strip of the same DSP I’ve used on my cards.  I added a circle die and stamped the yacht and anchor and gave them a light watercolour.  I stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy Ink and punched it out with my 2 1/4″ Circle Punch.  I’ve added a Night of Navy/Sahara Sand Baker’s Twine bow to the top of my project that held everything together – until I undid the bow, of course, and ate the chocolates…..

The next hop along the way is Rochelle Blok who has created totally fabulous projects.  Make sure you check out all of the gorgeous creations the team have designed – I’m in love with the all!

Freshly Made Sketches #392

Hey Everyone

Gee these weeks are flying by quickly!  In my job I work on a three monthly basis. At the moment I am writing rosters for August and that seems unbelievable that the year will over before I know it!

As it’s Wednesday, that means we have a new sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch designer is none other than the amazing Jacquie Southas.  She has created a fabulous sketch that had me completing my card in no-time!

Before you say it, I know I have an addiction to the Sailing Home Bundle. If you’re on a confident masculine card roll, why mess with it and change stamp sets?  It’s not often I create man cards, so I’m sticking with them for the time being. I may have another card using this stamp set to post tomorrow……so pop back to see how I’ve used this set and hopefully inspire you to create some man cards with it.

For this card, I’ve stamped the yachts with Black Memento Ink and given them a light watercolour with Bermuda Bay and Soft Suede Inks.  For the background I’ve added a piece of striped DSP from the Come Sail Away Memories and More Card Pack.  I then added a Smoky Slate seaweed diecut and rope edgelit cut with my Smooth Sailing Dies.

The sentiment I’ve used on my card is from the Perennial Birthday Stamp Set.  To tie in the Bermuda Bay watercolouring, I added a torn piece of Bermuda Bay Cardstock under the sentiment.  For the banners on the side of my card, I added some Basic Pearls that have been coloured with my Smoky Slate Dark Stampin’ Blend Marker.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards that will no doubt inspire you, so head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #391

Hey Everyone

There’s a new sketch challenge for you to try at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch designer is the super talented, and one amazing combiner of colour combinations, Amy O’Neill.

Take a look at her fab sketch:

I am in LOVE with the Sailing Home Stamp Set. I think I might even be reaching for this set before my flower stamp sets! Shocking isn’t it?! I’m on a masculine card making roll at the moment and don’t want to break it as I need more man cards in my stash.

I’ve watercoloured the anchor and lighthouse with Soft Suede Ink to add shadowing and depth.  I tied a knot to a piece of Night of Navy/Sahara Sand Bakers Twine and adhered it to my card with a loop held by Glue Dots.  The Pear Pizzazz foliage and Soft Suede rope edgelit have been cut with the matching Smooth Sailing Dies.  The stripe-y DSP in the background is from the Come Sail Away Memories and More Card Pack.

The Clean Team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards using Amy’s sketch.  Head over the the challenge and take a look.
