The Card Concept #36

Hey Everyone

I really love challenges as they make me try different colour combos that I would never usually try.  Take a look at the fab inspiration pic we have for you at The Card Concept.

CC36pic

I tried a new-to-me technique – the emboss resist technique.  I heat embossed Stampin’ Up!s En Francais with Clear Embossing Powder.  I then sponged Slate Gray and Morning Meadow ink in patches and then wiped away the excess with a paper towel.  I then set about fussy cutting (gee did they take time!) the fern fronds and flower from Butterfly Basics.  Here’s my card:

We’d love for you to join us with our challenge. Head over to The Card Concept and link up a card. While you’re there, take a look at the wonderful inspiration from the design team.

The Card Concept #33

Hey Again Everyone

I’m back with a second card tonight.  This time I have created a card for this fortnight’s challenge over at The Card Concept.  Here’s our inspiration picture for you:

CC33pic

I to’d and fro’d with this colour combo for ages.  In the end I found the best thing to do was to walk away and come back a day later. I completely threw out the ideas I originally had and started from scratch and my card came together in less than 1/2 hour.  I really love the patterns and shapes in this picture so I tried to carry them over to my shabby card. You may not be able to see it but my pink circle DSP has a subtle chevron pattern to it. It was really hard to photograph.

Just Add Ink #258 & Mojo Monday #392

Hey Everyone

This weeks challenge at Just Add Ink was suggested by Rochelle – take a look at the pretty colours she has given us to use:

JAI258pic

As colour challenges still scare me, I searched around for a sketch that I could use for the layout.  This weeks Mojo Monday sketch really appealed to me.

I finally put in a Stampin’ Up! order and just received Butterfly Basics.  I really love this pretty flower.  I can see it’s going to be my go-to flower stamp for a while. Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #169

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week the lovely Jennifer Timko is our hostess – she is not only a talented card marker, she also creates fabulous sketches that make my cards come together in no-time. Truthfully it was one of the easiest cards I’ve thrown together in ages.

The Deconstructed Sketch #164 & Inspired by Stamping Inspiration Challenge #85

Hey Everyone

After a bit of a slow start to my Sunday morning I headed out to my craft room to get myself inspired to create a card.  Sometimes cards just come together with ease and this was one of those cards.  The challenges I used to inspire me are The Deconstructed Sketch and Inspired by Stamping

I absolutely love this sketch of Jen’s. The layers are so me! The Stampin’ Up! stamp sets I’ve used are Happy Easter (don’t think I’ve actually used these tulips for an Easter card) and my sentiment is from a retired set called Simply Sketched. Here’s my card:

DS164 & IBSIC85

I got on a bit of a roll and even created a second card (which is a bit unusual for me!).  Must’ve been a bit gee’d up after a chat to a friend on Facebook this morning. ❤  I’ll be back later with that card once I fix it up a bit.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #144

Hey Everyone

I’m back!!! It feels like forever since I’ve been into my craft to do anything other than stare at my desk and wonder how long it would take for me to stamp again.  The fracture is healing well so I thought it was time to try and make a card.  I really wanted to have a go at Karren’s great sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, so I ignored my twingy elbow.

FMS144sketch

I was given good advice by my fellow FMS DT member Jennifer to keep my fussy cutting to a minimum so that was what I attempted to do – as you can see, keeping it to a minimum didn’t quite work! I finally put in an order for Stampin’ Up! Blendabilities and this is my first attempt at using them.  I think I should’ve been doing a bit of research on how to use them in while I haven’t been able to create – think I’ll do that as I’m now off work for the next week and a half.

We’d love for you to join us this week at Freshly Made Sketches – head over to the challenge and check out the inspiration from the Design Team.

Freshly Made Sketches #141

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week the lovely Cindy Hall is our sketch hostess and she’s provided this fabulous sketch.  I had so much fun creating my card and I know you’re going to love her sketch too!

fms141sketch

Strawberry Slush is a colour I don’t use much, so I decided it was time to bring it out of the back of the cupboard and give it a go.  I really love the drama of any colour with Basic Black so that’s the colour I’ve teamed Strawberry Slush with today.  I’ve gone with one of my favourite flower stamp sets – Stippled Blossoms – for my card.  My leaves are also from this stamp set and are stamped in Old Olive.

FMS141

I’m so lucky I made my cards for this weeks design team committments on Sunday. I wouldn’t have got them made if I left them until Monday.  The reason for this is because I had a fall on Monday and fractured my left radial head (a bone in my elbow) and I’m left handed! I’m sad to say I’m going to be out of action after tomorrows post for a little while – can you imagine how completely devastated about this? This post has taken forever to type with my non-dominant hand.

We’d love it if you can join us this week at Freshly Made Sketches.  Head over to the challenge and have a look at the gorgeous inspiration from the design team.

Thanks for stopping by.

Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #307 & The Shabby Tea Room #222

Hey Everyone

I’ve had a great day of play in my craft room today making some cards for my design teams as well as two cards for challenges.  Don’t you love it when you have one of these days?  The first card I’m sharing is for two challenges – Create with Connie & Mary Challenge and The Shabby Tea Room.  Here are their inspiration pics:

CCMC307sketch

STR222pic

This sketch is totally fabulous and when I saw the soft colours at The Shabby Tea Room, I knew they would be combine perfectly.  The designer series paper I’ve used is from a Stampin’ Up! pack called Afternoon Picnic.  You’ve probably noticed I like to combine my stamp sets from Stampin’ Up! – this time I’ve used: Petite Petals, Papaya Collage, Simply Sketched and Flower Shop.  Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #138

Hey Everyone

This weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches is brought to us our very own talented Artisan Design Team Member Jennifer Timko!  So many possibilities with this sketch.

FMS138sketch

One of the perks of attending Stampin’ Up!s South Pacific Convention is that we receive stamp sets from the upcoming catalogue before it goes live in July.  I have to tell you that I was over the moon when I saw that one of them was Kinda Eclectic – it’s another leaf stamp for me!  I’ve also tried stamping the sunburst from this stamp set behind the leaves (which is kind of like a make and take we made at Convention). The flowers are from Petite Petals and the sentiment is from Simply Sketched.
