Freshly Made Sketches #293

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch designer this week is my super talented NZ friend Karren Johnson.  Karren’s so creative with her card making and is an amazing colourist!

Have a look at her fab sketch:
I really love her sketch!  I don’t have any large dies that gave me that great curve, so I hand cut my cardstock as close to the sketch as I could.  The flowers, I watercoloured with my watercolour pencils, are from Birthday Blooms.  These flowers have quite a lot of smaller flowers and leaves around them, but for something different, I cut them all off.  I then coloured the largest of the leaves and tucked them back under the flowers.

The black leaves are cut with Flourish Thinlit Dies and the sentiment I’ve used is from Stampin’ Up! Blooms and Wishes.  Initially I had an all white background but felt it looked a bit plain, so I picked up a discarded piece of designer series papers I had on my desk and added it to my card. This great chevron paper is from a retired pack called Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I really liked the contrast of the black chevron, Rich Razzleberry flowers and white cardstock.

We would love it if you could join us with this sketch challenge.  Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and link up a card.  While you’re there, take a look at the fabulous inspiration from the design team.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #292

Hey Everyone

I love Wednesdays as it means a new sketch to showcase Stampin’ Up! goodies that have taken my fancy for my card!  This weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches has been designed by the uber talented Cecile Ribon.  She’s also super talented at sketch designing!

The daisy I have used is from Stampin’ Up!s Daisy Delight which is totally fun to colour.  I stamped the outline in Black Archival Ink and then water coloured with a bit of Hello Honey Ink and then added a bit of black with my black watercolour pencil to add definition to the flower. I then stamped some ink splatters in the backgroundfrom Swirly Bird in Basic Black Ink.  The leaves are cut with dies from Flourish Thinlits and my sentiment is from Big on Birthdays.  I embossed my sentiment with white embossing powder – a look I love for sentiments. My circles are cut with circle dies and the smidge of DSP you can see is from Pop of Pink Specialty DSP – which is now retired.

Here’s my card:

Kelly’s Stamping Friends Blog Hop – Celebrating 5 Years

Hey Everyone

My wonderfully talented and hardworking friend Kelly Kent is celebrating 5 years of being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator! I was really pleased to meet Kelly in person last year at Stampin’ Up!s OnStage Event.  She lives waaaaay on the other side of Australia to me and someday I hope to catch up with her again – she is such a sweetie!

To celebrate her milestone she has organised a blog hop with stamping friends.  I loved the idea of a blog hop to celebrate her anniversary and was pleased to play along.  I’ve just realised today is actually my 8th year anniversary as a demo too! To top things off today is my 25th wedding anniversary – so celebrations all around!

The theme for the hop is “Happy”.  The card I’ve made is a fun birthday card with a cool “Happy” sentiment from Birthday Celebrations.  I watercoloured my sentiment in Lemon Lime Twist – a colour that really pops when combined with Basic Black.  I heat embossed the “Birthday to You” sentiment (also from Birthday Celebrations) in white embossing powder and smooshed techniqued the background with Lemon Lime Twist.

The Lemon Lime Twist balloon is stamped from a set called Happy Birthday Gorgeous and the black balloons are punched with various Stampin’ Up! balloon punches.  I used my white gel pen to create a shine line to them.  The black and silver DSP is from Pop of Pink Specialty DSP and the strip of Lemon Lime Twist DSP is from Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper.

A little bit of Black Bakers Twine, Silver Ribbon and a few sequins and my card was done.

Next hop along the way is Wendy Hodkinson.  You’re going to love what she’s created.

Happy Anniversary Kelly – congrats on your 5 years! ❤

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #285

Hey Everyone

Who’s ready for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches? Me! I really do love Amy O’Neill’s sketches. Her cards are just as amazing! I may have added one or two more shapes than the sketch, but I had to have bunch of flowers and leaves to go with them!

My weekends are usually spent cleaning, grocery shopping, washing and more cleaning.  My son helped me out this weekend with all the boring stuff, so I was able to spend a little more time in my craft room colouring.  The flowers and leaves from Stampin’ Up!s Penned and Painted are my favourite to colour. The designer series paper I have used is Pop of Pink Specialty DSP.

Just Add Ink #356

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge for you is to :

I decided to go with two balloons and two circles.  The Stampin’ Up! stamp set I have used is Balloon Adventures. I’ve love a layered card and have gone to town with circles and a banner and on top of those, a sentiment in a banner.  My balloons are coloured lightly with Watercolor Pencils and I stamped the background with a smidge of dots from Timeless Textures.

Freshly Made Sketches #267

Hey Everyone

Wednesday’s mean a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Unbelievably there’s only one more Wednesday after today before Santa comes!  I hope you’re all more ready than what I am!  Our sketch hostess at Freshly Made Sketches is the amazingly talented Jennifer Timko.  I spied some absolutely gorgeous cards on her blog earlier.

I wanted to create a feminine floral card (just to get away from Christmas – even thought I still don’t have enough to send out by next week).  The flowers and the background stamps I’ve used are from Stampin’ Up!s Swirly Bird and the leaves are made with Flourish Thinlit Dies.  The sentiment is one I’ve cut down from Stampin’ Up!s Window Shopping – a set I won when recently attending Stampin’ Up!s On Stage Event.

Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink #329

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink for you.  This weeks inspiration picture was suggested by Di.

I tried to bring each of the colours from the pretty bouquet of tulips into my card.  The colours I’ve used for my flowers are So Saffron, Blushing Bride and Melon Mambo. My leaves were made with Gumball Green and Mint Macaron.  I had the sentiment sitting on my desk that I had previously cut for another project and never used.  Instead of just leaving it white, I decided to give it a bit of colour. To give it a rainbow effect, I wet it with water and then took my watercolour pen and lightly added the same colours I used for the flowers.  After drying it off with my heat tool, I felt it needed a little more colour.  After adding a bit here and there, I dried it off again. This is the result and I have to say that I like this effect!
