Fusion Card Challenge – Rustic Flowers

Hey Everyone

There’s a challenge at Fusion Card Challenge that is right up my alley.  Rustic Flowers is what their challenge is called. Rustic seems to be the theme I’m drawn to lately.  I was going to use both the sketch and colours from the inspiration pic, but my card somehow grew too many layers and I had to just go with the inspiration pic.

Colorful Seasons and Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies are a great set for that rustic feel.  I used a combination of sizes of the leaves dies.  The smallest leaf is made with Mossy Meadow Cardstock.  To create the largest leaf, I applied a combination of Crumb Cake, Old Olive and Early Espresso Inks directly to my silicone mat and then spritzed with water.  I then applied some Whisper White Cardstock directly on to the ink.  I  waited for it to dry and cut with my large die.  I then took the branch die and ran it through my bigshot with Early Espresso Cardstock.

The strip of designer series paper I’ve used is from Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack.  I also added a strip of Sahara Sand Cardstock.  I then added some ink splatters to the background from Timeless Textures and Love What You Do.  The sentiment I’ve used (again) is from Picture Perfect Birthday.  To finish off my card I added some Linen Thread to go with that whole rustic feel.

Thanks for stopping by.

CAS(E) this Sketch #283

Hey Everyone

Following my recent teen boy card, I wanted to created a teen girl card.  You can find my boy card by clicking here.  The sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch has a really fun sketch that I thought would be perfect for the challenge I’d given myself.

I really do love the sentiment I’ve used on my card.  The font and size is perfect for so many of my cards.  This sentiment is from Picture Perfect Birthday.  I’ve given my sentiment some light stamping behind it with the confetti type stamp from the same set in Blushing Bride.

The designer series paper is also Blushing Bride DSP from 6″ x 6″ Subtles Designer Series Paper.  This would have to be the reason I joined Stampin’ Up! all those years ago, was for the matching of inks, DSP, ribbons, markers and well pretty much everything!

After looking through my colour charts, I decided to pair my Blushing Bride with copper, rather than one of the other gorgeous colours SU! has.  I’ve heat embossed my candles (also from Picture Perfect Birthday) with Copper Embossing Powder, added some Copper Sequins and tied a bow with some Copper Trim.  This is a combo I haven’t tried before, but  I am loving this for a teen girl.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #407 – Just Add “O”

Hey Everyone

Friday’s mean a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge for you is to:

When I sat down on Sunday to create something for this challenge, I initially drew a blank on anything starting with O.  The only thing I could think of was creating some cards using the One Sheet Wonder Technique.  Of course that then meant I would need to create a few cards instead of just my usual one card…..  I didn’t realise how much time I would spend on this one challenge.  I started with my layout and came up with the following measurements:

I then decided on a stamp set and colours I would use.  The stamp set I settled on was Stampin’ Up!s Colorful Seasons.  The ink colours I used were – Crumb Cake, Old Olive and Mossy Meadow.   I randomly stamped the leaf stamps first and then the little wheel like stamp to fill in the gaps. The littlest leaf stamp was inked up with Crumb Cake, but this doesn’t really come through in my photo.

In total I created seven cards.  On the first of my cards, I have layered my stamped OSW panel in the centre of my card.  I added a sentiment from Picture Perfect Birthday on a circle and added a light Crumb Cake watercolour behind the sentiment. I then set my big shot into action and cut loads of leaves with my Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies. My leaves are made from Old Olive and Mossy Meadow Cardstock.

My second card also has the OSW panel in the centre of the card. I added some Linen Thread and the chair die cut from Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies to my card. I added more leaves and a sentiment from Picture Perfect Birthday.

I flipped my next card to mix it up and added banners, leaves, a sentiment from Picture Perfect Birthday and a Linen Thread bow.

I have given this card a side panel with my OSW strip.  Along with a sentiment stamped on a circle, I added a strip of Burlap Ribbon and a banner.

This next card has a more clean look as I have used a thin strip of my OSW on the right side of my card.  As on my other cards, I have given my strip a mat of Old Olive Cardstock.  By adding the mat I think it makes the OSW strip stand out more against the all white background.

I’ve used the chair die cut from my Seasonal Layers Thinly Dies on this card. Again I have added some leaves, banners and a Linen Thread bow.

The layout on this card was one that I remember using in a previous sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  I love this layout – to create this, I took the last of the thin strips from my OSW and cut it evenly into three rectangles.  I matted them with Old Olive Cardstock and placed them as below.  I added some banners and a sentiment and my card was done.

Phew! That’s lots of photos isn’t it? The girls at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous cards with this weeks challenge.  Head over to Just Add Ink and take a look.

Just Add Ink #401

Hey Everyone

How about a sketch challenge?  We have a great one for you at Just Add Ink!  Take a look at this weeks fabulous sketch:

I’ve stayed away from a floral stamp set – just to prove to myself that I can! Florals will always be my first choice when I sit down to create a card.  This week I’ve chosen to create a fun birthday card with candles.  The candles and sentiment I’ve used are from Stampin’ Up!s Picture Perfect Birthday.  The inks I’ve used for my candles are – Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral and Lemon Lime Twist.

The Pool Party Cardstock in the background is stamped with the confetti like stamp in Bermuda Bay Ink.  Initially I just had the cardstock uninked, but it looked a tad plain to me.  I kind of think it looks like a DSP and was able to match the colours in the candles.  This card would be a good card for a class as it can show your class that you can create a card without buying DSP to match.  I added some Pool Party Bakers Twine and some Gold Sequin Trim under my circle layer to give my card a fullness and details that I like to give my cards.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #324

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch designer this week is the super talented Amy O’Neill. Pop over to Amy’s blog and check out her gorgeous cards and see how amazing she is at combining colours and using the perfect stamp sets for her creations.

I totally love it when a card just comes together!  I can thank Amy and her spot-on sketch designing skills for this! The flowers I’ve used on my card are from Petal Palette – I am loooooving this set.  My flowers are watercoloured with a combination of Blushing Bride and Melon Mambo Inks.  I then took my Melon Mambo Watercolor Pencil and created my watercoloured background. The leaves that I have fussy cut are also from Petal Palette.

The sentiment I’ve stamped is perfect for my circle punch – I am loving the font in this sentiment.  The sentiment is from a Stampin’ Up! set called Picture Perfect Birthday.  I added some pink sequins (as always in threes) and my card was finished.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #316

Hey Everyone

Time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  This weeks sketch has been designed by the uber talented Jennifer Timko. She creates fabulous sketches and uh-mazing cards.  Head over to her blog and take a look at her wonderful creations.  Here’s this weeks sketch:

One of great things about attending a Stampin’ Up! Onstage Event is seeing and receiving products from the upcoming Occasions Catalogue.  The stamp set I received for attending Onstage is called Picture Perfect Birthday.  This set is all about birthdays and I’ve chosen the candles, bow, confetti background stamp and sentiment from this set.  The candles are a two step stamping image.  The first one is stamped in Blushing Bride and Berry Burst and the second one, as well as the bow, is stamped in Pool Party and Bermuda Bay.  The confetti in the background is stamped in Blushing Bride.  I then added a strip of Vintage Crochet Trim across my card.  The “cue the confetti” sentiment is embossed on Basic Black cardstock and the sentiment on my circle is stamped with Basic Black Archival Ink.

Here’s my take on Jennifer’s sketch:
