Just Add Ink #411

Hey Everyone

Happy Friday to you all!

We have a new challenge for you to play along with at Just Add Ink.  Love, love, love sketch challenges and this sketch that Jan has created is really up my alley.

As soon as I see I a fantastic sketch, my creative juices kick in and I know exactly what I want to create. I “saw” wedding card when I pictured it in my mind – maybe because of the heart, but as you can see, I chose a leafy image to replace the heart.

I’m thinking I may’ve used Petal Palette on every wedding card I have made recently.  I can’t help it! These flowers have an elegant artwork to them and are made for colouring.  The really are perfect for my CAS wedding cards.  My flower are and leaves are lightly watercoloured with Powder Pink and Pear Pizzazz Inks.

To add a little more interest to my card, I have tilted my sentiment frames.  I then added some Basic Black Bakers Twine because sometimes sequins just aren’t enough embellishments.

You will love the cards the design team have created as much as I do, so pop over to the challenge and take a look.  We would love it if you could play along with us this week.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers

Freshly Made Sketches #335

Hey Everyone

Welcome to a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches! This week our sketch has been designed by the super talented Jennifer Timko.  Jennifer’s cards are so creative! If you haven’t been over to her blog, pop over and check them out!

I fell in LOVE with this sketch and had so much fun creating another wedding card.  I’m on a wedding card roll at the moment and almost want to create one every time I sit down to make a card. Let’s face it, I already have tons of female florally birthday cards laying on my desk collecting dust and getting squashed…

As soon as I saw the oval on this card I knew that I wanted to add some flowers to frame it.  Of course I reached for Petal Palette as I knew these flowers could work the best for my card.

I gave my flowers a light watercolour with Soft Sky Ink and then added Dapper Denim Ink along each of the lines to create definition.  I then added some Basic Gray to the leaves as I just wanted to add a little bit of colour and not have them stand out too much.

My sentiment is from Petal Palette also and this is stamped in Basic Gray.  I added strips of Soft Sky and Basic Gray cardstock under my sentiment.  To add a little elegance (as wedding cards are all about elegance) I added some Silver Metallic Thread and a Silver Sequin.

The Clean Team at Freshly Made Sketches have made wonderful cards that will inspire you. Head over to the blog and take a look.

Thanks for stopping by.

Colour INKspiration #31

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new colour challenge at Colour INKspiration!

Take a look at these pretty colours:

If you have been hopping along you will have come from Rachel Palmieri’s awesome card.  If not, don’t worry you can follow the hop and start again.  Colour INKspiration is a Facebook Group where you can share your card and be inspired by the creativity there.

I knew as soon as I saw these colours I wanted to use Petal Palette.  I also knew I would need a lot of white space to make all of these colours work.  If in doubt…..use lots of white space!  So here’s what I came up with:

The next hop along the way is the wonderfully talented Julia Quinn.  Head over to her blog and take a look at her gorgeous projects.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #403

Hey Everyone

Happy Friday everyone! We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink for you.  This week is a colour challenge.  Take a look at our colours below:

Ok, not gonna lie.  When I saw these colours, I had absolutely NO idea how I was going to combine them!  I soon got over myself and came up with a card that I have to say……I love!

I’ve used Petal Palette again (because it’s my favourite) and mainly because it works with any colours!  I wasn’t sure if Bermuda Bay would work for the leaves, but used lightly, I think it almost passed for a green.  I was able to add gold to my card with thread, sequins and a sentiment.  The Fresh Fig DSP is from Eastern Palace Specialty DSP.

The team at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous cards that are all so very different. Head over to the challenge and take a look.  We would love it if you could play along.

Thanks for stopping by.

CAS(E) this Sketch #265

Hey Everyone

CAS(E) this Sketch has a fabulous sketch this week.  As I’m on hols with family, I’ve only today managed to find some time to create a card for the challenge.  I’ve been trying to sneak away all week to play along!

I am in LOVE with these leaves from Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies.  I knew I wanted to use them as soon as I saw the sketch.  I cut off a strip of the stripe-y DSP from Merry Little Christmas DSP that I thought worked perfectly with the sketch.  What colour works best with Old Olive?  Crumb Cake……however, I forgot to bring some with me…..  The only cardstock I had in a similar colour was the backing board from a make and take from an Onstage Event that I had somehow packed. Even though it’s not quite Crumb Cake, I think it works well.  As this backing board is really thick the die wouldn’t cut the entire way through so my leaves were a little crushed when I separated them.  I figure that’s how leaves look when they’ve fallen to the ground anyway.

The sentiment that I’ve used was chosen because it fit in my Label Punch.  The sentiment is from Petal Palette.  I added a bit of a washed look behind the sentiment with my Old Olive Watercolor Pencil.

I just noticed my ribbon is a tad offline at the top……I’ve now lined it up properly, but have already put away my light tent and it’s too late to pull it out again to take another photo.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #331

Hey Everyone

Oh I love a sketch challenge! I’ve probably said this before, but they are truly my favourite!  The cool sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches has been designed by the seriously talented Cecile Ribon.

Take a look at her sketch:

The die I’ve used in the background on my card is from Flourish Thinlits Dies.  I’ve used Smoky Slate for these lattice type dies.  The pretty little flowers I watercoloured are from Better Together.  I’ve coloured them in a combination of pinks – Blushing Bride and Melon Mambo.  The leaves, that you can probably tell are my favourite at the moment, are from Petal Palette.  I’ve stamped them in Pear Pizzazz and then fussy cut them out.

To add a little bit of interest to the background, I stamped the ink splatters from Swirly Bird in the combination of Blushing Bride and Melon Mambo Inks.  The sentiment I’ve used is stamped in Black Archival Ink is also from Better Together.  As you can see, by using this sentiment, I’ve created another wedding card for my collection. Think I have a total of two now….

Our Clean Team have created gorgeous cards with Cecile’s sketch. Head over to the challenge and take a look.  While you’re there you will see we have a new GD playing along with us this month – the uber talented Tracey Mehak McNeely! It’s so exciting to have her on the team!

Freshly Made Sketches #329

Hey Everyone

Wednesday’s mean a new sketch for you to try at Freshly Made Sketches. Our sketch has been designed the wonderfully talented Kim Singdahlsen.

You probably know by now that Petal Palette is my favourite flower stamp set to colour.  I’ve given the flowers colour with Blushing Bride and Fresh Fig Inks.  I gave the leaves a quick colour with Pear Pizzazz Ink.  The spotted background is also from Petal Palette.  I stamped these spots in Black Archival Ink.  The sentiment is from Perennial Birthday.  I finished off my card by adding three copper sequins.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #328

Hey Everyone

We have a new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented Linda Callahan.

Painted Harvest stamp set has been hiding amongst my unused stamp sets, so I decided it needed to see ink again.  My flower is stamped in Blushing Bride and Sweet Sugarplum Inks.  The fussy cut leaves are from Petal Palette.  These are stamped in Pear Pizzazz Ink.  The centre of the flower is stamped in Smoky Slate Ink.

The sentiment from Picture Perfect Birthday has been embossed on Basic Black Cardstock. I chose this sentiment as it was one I haven’t used as yet and also because it was the perfect size for my banner.

The Clean Team have created gorgeous cards with Linda’s sketch.  Pop over to Freshly Made Sketches and get ready to be inspired.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #327

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch hostess is the wonderfully talented Jen Mitchell.  Jen is not only the creator of gorgeous clean cards, she’s also a fabulous sketch designer.  Take a look at her cool sketch:

I’ve had my newly purchased Brusho sitting on my desk unused for a few weeks.  It kind of scared me as I was unsure how to use it.  I decided to give it a go on this weeks card.

I wanted to created a washed looking background and I think I achieved this….. I carried over the yellow and tinges of red from the background into my flowers.  The flowers I’ve used are from Perennial Birthday.  I gave them a quick colour with So Saffron and Real Red Inks.  The leaves were also given a quick watercolour with Pear Pizzazz Ink.  I then stamped some leaves from in Petal Palette in Basic Basic Ink and fussy cut them to layer behind the flowers.

I really like the sentiment on this card as it can be used for so many occasions.  It’s also from Stampin’ Up!s Perennial Birthday.

The team are sure to wow you with their cards – head over to Freshly Made Sketches and take a look.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #324

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch designer this week is the super talented Amy O’Neill. Pop over to Amy’s blog and check out her gorgeous cards and see how amazing she is at combining colours and using the perfect stamp sets for her creations.

I totally love it when a card just comes together!  I can thank Amy and her spot-on sketch designing skills for this! The flowers I’ve used on my card are from Petal Palette – I am loooooving this set.  My flowers are watercoloured with a combination of Blushing Bride and Melon Mambo Inks.  I then took my Melon Mambo Watercolor Pencil and created my watercoloured background. The leaves that I have fussy cut are also from Petal Palette.

The sentiment I’ve stamped is perfect for my circle punch – I am loving the font in this sentiment.  The sentiment is from a Stampin’ Up! set called Picture Perfect Birthday.  I added some pink sequins (as always in threes) and my card was finished.

Here’s my card:
