ColourQ Challenge #222 & Cardabilities #90

Hey Everyone

I’ve been asked to make a couple of cards for one of my friends at work – one being a card for her sisters 30th birthday.  The cards aren’t needed until I go back to work on 29th January, but I thought I would make a start on them.  I looked around for some inspiration and found the colour challenge at colourQ and the sketch challenge at Cardabilities would work perfectly for her sisters card.

The cardstock I’ve used is from a Stampin’ Up! pack called Modern Medley DSP as well as some retired Brushed Gold cardstock.  I love the balloons from Stampin’ Up!s Up, Up & Away as they’re great to make a big bunch of birthday balloons.  The numbers come from a set called Memorable Moments. I’ve heat embossed the balloons and numbers in black and gold to make them shiny. I’ve also added some curled white craft wire to the balloons to add some extra interest.  You may be wondering where the Going Gray is, but I managed to sneak it in by stamping Gorgeous Grunge in the background.  To finish the card off, I’ve added a big black satiny bow.

Mojo Monday #326 & The Shabby Tea Room #199

Hey Everyone

Ok, I’ve finally made it back into my craft room after a two week break from it.  I was almost getting a little worried that I may not want to get back in there at all!  I’d had it in my head that I didn’t know where to start.  It was actually much easier to get started than what I thought it would be and I have to say this card came together really quickly – no more wussing out from my craft room from me.

The card I’ve created is for two challenges – Mojo Monday and The Shabby Tea Room.  I love the challenge of being able to combine two at once.  I find that all the hard work is done for me when I enter a sketch and colour challenge.

I love the vintage feel to the inspiration picture above, so I’ve gone with a vintagey card.  I made some scrunched up flowers that I haven’t made in ages but I liked the look of them for my card.  The papers I’ve used are from Stampin’ Up!s Modern Medley and a retired pack called Bella Bleu.  Here’s what I created:

I started off with way different colours than what I finished up with, but I think these colours works – jury’s still out on this card.  Here’s what I came up with:

Stampin’ Royalty #199 & Mojo Monday #316

Hey Everyone

You all probably know by now that I’m a lover of neutrals so when I saw the inspiration picture at Stampin’ Royalty I fell in love and knew immediately what I was going to create.  I’ve used the sketch from this weeks Mojo Monday challenge for my layout.

My friends daughter made her debut last night and I wanted to make her a card.  I love the elegance of white/cream with black and it kind of reminded of the elegance  of a debutantes dress paired with her partners black suit.  Here’s what I came up with:

Dynamic Duos #75 & Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #273

Hey Everyone

I’m back with another post.  This time I’ve combined my card for two challenges – Dynamic Duos where their challenge is to create a card using Tangerine Tango and Basic Black with the option of Halloween.

DD75pic

I’ve used this gorgeous sketch from Create with Connie & Mary for the layout of my card.

CCMC273sketch

I chose not to go with the option of Halloween (as I think I Halloweened myself out with my earlier projects – you can find them here) but I have used some retired Stampin’ Up! Halloween DSP called Howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP.  I really love this striking striped DSP and am almost at the end of it which is a bit sad.

Freshly Made Sketches #104

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday so that means a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Linda, of the gorgeously clean cards, is this weeks hostess and she has given us this great sketch:

FMS104sketch

I initially started off sticking true to the sketch, but in the end I flipped it as it worked better for my flowers.  The colour combo for my card actually came from an outfit that I work to work the other day.  I had it in my head that it was Basic Black, Basic Gray and Peach Parfait, so that’s what a went with on my card. I kind of like the combo together!  Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink #181

Hey Everyone

Nikki has given us this fabulous colour challenge at Just Add Ink this week:

I love the elegance of these striking colours together and hope you can join us in our challenge.  Simply Sketched is a favourite Stampin’ Up! stamp set of mine at the moment for the images as well as the sentiments.  The layout for my card was inspired by a Sweet Stop Sketch from a couple of weeks ago.  Here’s my card:

Create with Connie & Mary #262 & Deconstructed Sketch #112

Hey Everyone

The design team at Create with Connie & Mary have a colour challenge that is new to me and luckily I received another Stampin’ Up! delivery today so I was able to join with my new Bermuda Bay ink.

CCM262pic

The layout for my card is for the sketch challenge at The Deconstructed Sketch.  Love the layers on this sketch, so I’ll be using this one again.

DS112sketch

I don’t have any Bermuda Bay designer series paper as yet (wish I could order the whole catalogue at once, then I would have so many choices at hand) so I created my own by swiping my ink pad over the de-bossed side of the spotted embossing folder and then ran some Very Vanilla cardstock through my big shot.  The Smoky Slate DSP is from Eastern Elegance and the Basic Black DSP is from Modern Medley.  Here’s what I came up with:

The Deconstructed Sketch #110 & Dynamic Duos #62

Hey Everyone

Jen at The Deconstructed Sketch has a great sketch this week that really challenged me – but I was really happy with my card in the end.  Here’s the sketch:

DS110sketch

I’ve combined the sketch challenge with the colour challenge over at Dynamic Duos.  Their black tie challenge this week is to create a card using Basic Black and Calypso Coral.  The option for us is to use Butterflies – I was up for the challenge to use them.

Freshly Made Sketches #95

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday, so that means a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and guess what? It’s my turn to host again!  This is my second sketch with Freshly Made Sketches and I might’ve managed to sneak a couple more layers in than I did in my last sketch 😉  Here’s what I came up with:

FMS95sketch

I made this card last weekend with some of my new toys.  My card might look a little bit like this card I made last night because I used the same stamp set – Flower Shop – but unlike last nights card, I managed to keep this one clean.  The designer series papers I’ve used are Stampin’ Up!s Modern Medley and the beautiful Coastal Cabana paper is from Eastern Elegance DSP.  I have to tell you that I just LOVE this colour combination.  To create the two-toned flower I firstly stamped the flower in Coastal Cabana ink and then took my blender pen to wipe away the ink from the centre of the flower.  I then coloured the centre of the flower with my Basic Black marker.  I’m sure there’s a name for this technique, but as I’m technique challenged, I can’t remember the name of it!  Here’s my card:

FMS95

I’d love to see what you create with my sketch, so head over to Freshly Made Sketches and link up a card.  While you’re there, check out the gorgeous designs from the Clean Team.
