Mojo Monday #387 & colourQ #282

Hey Everyone

Thought I would miss the cut off time for this weeks Mojo Monday Challenge, but luckily we have a long weekend and I was able to finish off my card with a few minutes to spare.  I love combining challenges and my go-to challenge for colours is colourQ. As soon as I saw their colours, I knew a vintage card was what I wanted to make.

The Card Concept #10

Hey Everyone

Do we have a great challenge for you at The Card Concept this fortnight?  I’ll answer for you – yes!  The challenge we have for you is to create a project with a coffee theme. I can’t wait to see how you interpret it.

CC10pic

Lucky for me a I had a couple of weeks to think about this challenge as it had me stumped for a little while.  I have nothing in my stamping collection that says coffee at all!  Then I remembered MDS.  I’d totally forgotten how to use it and then because I got a new laptop I had to go through the whole rigmarole of getting it loaded again.  Then when it came to printing ,I’d ran out of ink.  $127 to buy new cartridges and I was ready to go. (It was probably cheaper to buy a new printer!).  Here’s what I came up with:

The Design Team have created some fabulous coffee themed cards – so head over to The Card Concept and check them out.

Viva La Verve Sketch Challenge

Hey Everyone

The card I’m sharing is a card I made for my Mum for Mother’s Day – as Mother’s Day was yesterday in Australia, it’s now safe to post my card.  Cards are getting so hard to make for my Mum these days as she’s a card maker too and I want to try and impress her.  She sent me a text last week to ask if I’d made her card yet and as she sees all of my posts, I couldn’t try and fob off an old one on her – oh, and she also said there was no pressure at all!  (I knew she was just kidding, but I still put pressure on myself!) Because I needed a little help I’ve used the layout from this weeks great Viva La Verve Sketch.

VLVMay2sketch

I’ve moved my flowers a tad from the sketch, but they’re there and I’ve also moved my bow  a little to the left as that was where it worked best for my card.  I was really pleased with my card and I was also pleased to know that she loved it.

Pals Paper Arts #200

Hey Everyone

I had a bit of a chance to craft today so I jumped at the chance to play along with Pals Paper Arts 200th Challenge – Happy 200th PPA!  This week Margaret has designed this fab sketch and PPA has also given us a twist – to create a monochromatic card.

PPA200sketch I decided to go monochromatic black before I really thought HOW black it would look when finished.  Not sure how many black flowers and black leaves you see together, but oh well, that’s what I get when I don’t really think things through!  Someone out there will probably like it – if not, then this one’s for you mum (mums have to like everything you do! lol)

It’s Wednesday again so that means Freshly Made Sketches has a new sketch for you to play along with. This week the lovely Jennifer Brum has designed our sketch and it’s a great one.

Yep, it’s another flowery creation – but that’s what came into my head as soon as I saw Jen’s sketch.  Here’s my card:

The Deconstructed Sketch #140, Create with Connie & Mary #292 & Friday Mashup #149

Hey Everyone

The card I’m sharing today I managed to sneak in for three challenges – The Deconstructed Sketch, Create with Connie & Mary and The Friday Mashup.

DS140sketch

CCMC292pic

The challenge at the Friday Mashup is to create a project with flowers.  The flower I’ve used is from Stampin’ Up!s Flower Shop and the leaves are from Secret Garden.  The extra green foliage I’ve added was created by my new fabulous fringing scissors.  The scallop border was created by using my scallop border punch that I wrapped around the circle of Summer Starfruit DSP.  To get it to bend neatly I cut little knicks into the edge.

The Card Concept Challenge #4

Hey Everyone

Wow! We had 140 entries for our third challenge at The Card Concept – I can’t wait to see what you create with our fourth challenge!  This fortnights challenge is to create a card with a floral theme – here’s our inspiration pic to give you a hand making your card.

CC4pic

As you will see by my card I took the inspiration pic literally.  I totally love the flowers in the photo and went about re-creating them myself.  I tried to describe these flowers to my mum the other day on the phone to ask what they could be. She said two types of flowers.  I googled both flowers and ended up finding the correct one.  I then promptly forgot what they’re called.  I’m typing this post at 10pm at night so it’s too late to call her and ask her again – so at the moment these flowers have no name.  Anyway I made these flowers by cutting 6 circles of differing sizes and the black centre of the flower was made with my new Stampin’ Up! fringing scissors.  The sentiment I’ve used is from Stampin’ Up!s Petite Pairs.

Cardabilities #91 & Dynamic Duos #87

Hey Everyone

I’m coming to the end of my four week holiday and I’m trying to figure out exactly what I’ve done in all that time.  These four weeks have just flown and I’m wishing I could rewind and start my holiday again!

I’ve been out all day but had a bit of a chance to play in my craft room tonight and whipped up a card for two challenges – the sketch challenge at Cardabilities and the colour challenge at The Dynamic Duos.

Cardabilities91

DD87pic

Black is my new favourite colour again for my card bases. So when I saw the challenge at Dynamic Duos was to create a card with Basic Black and Melon Mambo, I knew this challenge would suit me to a tee.  I had to forgo the dessert option of adding an umbrella as I didn’t really know how to incorporate one with my flowery card.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #119

Hey Everyone

We are in the middle of a major heatwave here in Melbourne so I haven’t really had much of a chance to create as the heat in my craft room is making me melt.  We’re expecting another two days of heat so I don’t think I’ll get much card-making done until the weekend 😦  Fingers crossed we don’t lose power as many homes in Melbourne are without electricity.

This weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches is brought to us by the talented Cindy Lovell.  This is her first sketch with us and I have to say that it’s a super-cool design that I love!

Untitled

I really like this colour combo.  Do you think I can give this card to a man? Or does the yellow make it a bit girlie?  I’ve gone with a star as per Cindy’s sketch but I also snuck another 3 more in there.  I also moved my sentiment to the banner which was actually a mistake as I didn’t look at the sketch as close as I should’ve!

Come and join us this week at Freshly Made Sketches.  Head over to the challenge and check out the gorgeous inspiration from the Design Team.

Mojo Monday #327

Hey Everyone

Mojo Monday has a fabulous sketch for us this week:

Mojo327sketch

Crisp Cantaloupe is becoming a colour I want to reach for whenever I make a card lately.  I’ve teamed it with Basic Black and and this striking Houndstooth DSP from Modern Medley. I haven’t used much of the Crisp Cantaloupe ruffled ribbon as I wasn’t too sure how to make work it on my cards, so I just tied a it in a double bow this time – I have to say that I don’t mind it tied like this.  I’ve stamped the poppies from Pleasant Poppies in the background and stamped the sentiment from Field Flowers over the top.  To finish my card off, I added some butterflies from Kindness Matters.
