Just Add Ink #388

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink for you.  This week we are asking you to:

I went with another Christmas card as I found it easy to add glitter to a Christmas card.  My glitter comes in the form of glitter on my glimmer paper as well as some glitter highlights on my trees.  The trees I used are cut with my Card Front Builder Thinlits.  I added dobs of glue to my trees and then sprinkled some retired SU glitter and let them dry.

The DSP I’ve used is from Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The wonderful big sentiment I’ve used on my card is from Stampin’ Up!s Flurry of Wishes.  This sentiment works so well on the large circle I punched.  I then added some glimmer paper offcuts and some Striped Ribbon.  There’s a reason I keep my glimmer offcuts – it’s for times like these when I want to use just a smidge of glimmer! I’ve learnt not to throw tiny bits away.

The team have created gorgeous projects to inspire you.  Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created!

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers

CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #244

Hey Everyone

I managed to play in my craft room mid week!  It doesn’t happen very often as usually when I get home I cook, clean up and basically sit on the couch and try and de-stress from work.  My eyes and mind are generally too tired to create something inspiring.

The challenge that I’ve played along with is the sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch.

I’ve created a quick clean and simple Christmas card with non traditional Christmas colours.  I’ve teamed Powder Pink, Sweet Sugarplum and Basic Black diecuts from Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies and Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies.  The designer series paper I’ve used on my card is from Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper.    I then stamped the ink splatters stamp from Swirly Bird in Basic Black Archival Ink in the background.  The sentiment I’ve used is from Flurry of Wishes.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers

Just Add Ink #380

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink for you.  This week the sketch has been designed by me.  I’ve created a simple sketch that can be interpreted in so many different ways.

I really love non-traditional colours for Christmas cards and I really love featuring black on them.  The only stamping I did on this card is the sentiment.  This Christmas sentiment is a new favourite of mine.  It’s from a Stampin’ Up stamp set called Better Together.  The pine boughs I added for layering are cut with my Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies.

To create a border around my sentiment (that was punched with my Pretty Label Punch), I used a die from Eastern Medallions Thinlits Dies.  As I wanted to create more of a oval shape to frame the sentiment, I cut the diecut through the centre and overlapped it under the sentiment.

I then layered some Burlap Ribbon and a half strip of this gorgeous Striped Ribbon as I had them both sitting unused on my desk. The strip of designer series paper was also sitting unused on my desk.  This pretty paper is from Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I always love it when I can use up discarded products laying around on my desk. It kind of makes me feel like I’m getting somewhere on cleaning up my desk!

Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink #378

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink for you.  Our challenge for you to is:

This is a great challenge! Texture is an easy thing to add to any project – endless possibilities with this challenge.

I’ve chosen to add texture to my card with embossing paste and also the texture of the ribbon I’ve added.  The mask I’ve used with my embossing paste is from Pattern Party Decorative Masks.

The colour of the Christmas trees are Old Olive and Pear Pizzaz cardstock.  These trees are cut with my new Card Front Builder Thinlits.  (Little story about my new thinlits – I lost one before I even used it! I looked for hours for it! Found it two days laters stuck to the back of a finished card I’d filed away. I only found it by accident! I better be a little more careful!). The tiny deer, moon and stars are also from this die set.  The layers I’ve added under my sentiment are a strip of DSP from Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper, a strip of gorgeous Striped Ribbon and a piece of basic black cardstock cut with my Ticket Tear Border Punch.  The pretty sentiment I’ve used is from a Stampin’ Up stamp set called Holly Berry Happiness.

You may not notice straight away, as I had actually forgotten I’d added the DSP when I made the card two weeks ago, but I have used some designer series paper from Merry Music Speciality Designer Series Paper in the background.

The team at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous cards to inspire you.  Head over to the challenge and take a look.  While you’re there, we would love to see your project with texture!

Thanks for stopping by.
