I was really excited to receive my first order from the new catalogue and have found I’m already in love with some of the new In-Colours – Hello Honey and Blackberry Bliss are just so pretty together.  I’ve also used a new stamp set and matching punch called Beautiful Bunch.  I’m entering my card into this weeks SUO challenge which is to create a project using your new Stampin’ Up! toys.

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday so that means we have a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! This week our sketch to brought to you by the lovely and very creative Rita Wright.  Even thought I adore Rita’s sketch as it is, I ended up flipping the sketch as it worked for my sentiment/butterfly combo.

Card In a Box Class

Hey Everyone

I’ve been a bit quiet here for a about a week now as I have just attended Stampin’ Up!s South Pacific Annual Convention.  I’ve had a total ball and am completely beside myself because I’m soooooo tired.  I’m in desperate need of a sleep in.

The projects I’m sharing today are from a class that I held just before I came to convention.  My class girls requested a card in a box – hmmmmm.  I am yet to make one mainly because I’m not a fan of 3D stuff but succumbed because they really wanted it.  Here’s the link to the youtube video I followed to get the measurements for my card.  We also made a matching gift bag that we created out of an envelope.

Here’s a close up of the card in a box.

This is a photo of the card when it’s close flat.  I played with this for ages to try and get it as pretty closed as what it is when it’s opened.

And finally, one of the gift bag.

Freshly Made Sketches #134

Hey Everyone

Our sketch hostess this week at Freshly Made Sketches is my good stamping friend from New Zealand – Karren Johnson.  Karren creates the most beautiful cards and is so talented when it comes to techniques – techniques scare the life out of me, but Karren just aces them!  Pop by her blog and check out her creations.

I’m absolutely loving my new Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Stack called Fresh Prints mostly because it showcases one of my favourite colours – Coastal Cabana.  Here’s my card:

Viva la Verve Sketch, Shabby Tea Room #215 & The Friday Mashup #157

Hey Everyone

I’ve had such a productive card making weekend but haven’t had a chance to post anything until now as my son took over my laptop for pretty much the whole weekend.  I wrestled it from him tonight so I could get my posts done.

The challenges I’m entering my card into are Viva la Verve Sketch Challenge, The Shabby Tea Room Pastel Goodness Challenge and The Friday Mashup’s Challenge Seeing Dots Challenge.

I feel like I’m using the same stamps all the time so I reached for a little flower from Stampin’ Up!s Simple Stems that I haven’t used before now.  The leaves are made with my Stampin’ Up! Little Leaves Die and Crisp Cantaloupe DSP.  The dotted DSP in the background is from Fresh Prints Designer Series Stack and my sentiment is from Petite Pairs.  Here’s my card:

The Card Concept #8

Hey Everyone

I’m back with another card.  This time it’s for the Card Concept challenge where this week we’re asking you to create a card with an Umbrella.

CC8pic

I’m not gonna lie – adding an umbrella to my card challenged me (I guess that’s why challenges are good for me, they really test me!).  I started off with just a tag, but then ended up adding it to a card as I wasn’t happy with it by itself. I’ve left this card sentiment-less as sometimes it’s nice to have a blank one in the cupboard.

We’d love to see how you interpret this challenge – head over to the challenge and check out the inspiration from the design team.

Freshly Made Sketches #129

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  The amazingly talented Jen Mitchell is our sketch hostess this week and she’s given us this fabulous sketch – I can’t wait to see how you interpret it!

FMS129sketch

I’ve been playing around Stampin’ Up!s Sweet Sorbet DSP lately and found I love the colour combo of Pool Party and Sahara Sand.  The flowers I’ve used are from a Stampin’ Up! set called Everything Eleanor and I teamed them with some leaves from my Little Leaves Die.  I struggled to combine a third DSP to go across the card, so in the end I used my Woodgrain stamp inked with Sahara Sand to finish it off.

Just Add Ink #207

Hey Everyone

We have a sketch for you at Just Add Ink this week.  Kim is our hostess and she’s designed this wonderful sketch.

JAI207sketch

I was looking around my room the other day for my missing circle scissor cutting blade and came across some lace, vintage buttons and some Rose Red seam binding together in a pack.  I couldn’t quite remember what the name of this pack was but I really love the lace and decided it would be the starting point on my card.  I don’t have any doilies so I thought the lace would work just as well.   In case you’re wondering, I still can’t find my blade 😦

colourQ #230 & Cardabilities #94

Hey Everyone

I’m back with another card tonight that I’ve made for two challenges – colourQ and Cardabilities.  Here are their inspiration pics:

cardabilities #94

Totally love these colours together and totally love the layout of this sketch – so making this card was really easy.  In fact it was made under 30 minutes (that’s pretty fast for me!).  I was really going to try and stay away from Coastal Cabana for a bit but had to substitute it today as this was the colour I found closest to Cool Caribbean (a colour I don’t have).

The Card Concept Challenge #4

Hey Everyone

Wow! We had 140 entries for our third challenge at The Card Concept – I can’t wait to see what you create with our fourth challenge!  This fortnights challenge is to create a card with a floral theme – here’s our inspiration pic to give you a hand making your card.

CC4pic

As you will see by my card I took the inspiration pic literally.  I totally love the flowers in the photo and went about re-creating them myself.  I tried to describe these flowers to my mum the other day on the phone to ask what they could be. She said two types of flowers.  I googled both flowers and ended up finding the correct one.  I then promptly forgot what they’re called.  I’m typing this post at 10pm at night so it’s too late to call her and ask her again – so at the moment these flowers have no name.  Anyway I made these flowers by cutting 6 circles of differing sizes and the black centre of the flower was made with my new Stampin’ Up! fringing scissors.  The sentiment I’ve used is from Stampin’ Up!s Petite Pairs.
