Freshly Made Sketches #123

Hey Everyone

The lovely Jen Brum is our hostess at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  Jen has created a totally cool sketch that our design team have totally nailed.  Click here to go to the challenge and check out the inspiration from our crafty design team.

Instead of circles I’ve gone with hexagons from Stampin’ Up!s Six Sided Sampler (thought I better use them again because I think I’ve only used them once!) and finally decided on stamping the silhouette image from a retired Stampin’ Up! stamp called Extreme Guitar. I added some background stamping from Gorgeous Grunge and finished my card off with some small stars and a “You Rock” sentiment.  The more I look at this card, the more I’m thinking it’s kind of busy don’t you think?

Just Add Ink #179

Hey Everyone

Friday’s mean there’s a new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week Mae has created a fabulous sketch for us to try:

JAI179sketch

I’ve had a male birthday in the family recently and I thought that this sketch worked well for a masculine card.  I’ve used some retired Stampin’ Up stamp sets called  Grunge Rock and Just Jawing and combined them with some new Stampin’ Up! stamp sets called Off the Grid and Gorgeous Grunge.

Dynamic Duos #5 & Deconstructed Sketch #54

Hey Everyone

So everyone I know is at our Stampin’ Up! Convention this weekend.  I tried to ignore it because I’m spewy I couldn’t make it.  This didn’t work so I searched everyone’s blogs and stalked facebook just so I could get snippets of information of what’s been happening.  I decided this made me sadder I couldn’t attend, so I headed to my craft room to enter challenges instead – this has cheered me up!

Anyway enough about me, over at the Dynamic Duos their theme this week is Bold and Sassy.

I’ve probably never used these colours together ever, so when I started my card I figured I’d go safe with a feminine florally card – that didn’t work. So I browsed a few challenges and found this weeks Deconstructed Sketch.

As soon as I saw this sketch I changed my mind from a feminine card to a masculine card and because the sketch has so much going on, it was perfect for a man card.  I struggle with man cards purely because I can’t tizz them up with bows and bling.  This sketch was able to give me the “fullness” I like in a card

Here’s my card:
