Just Add Ink #364

Hey Everyone

This weeks challenge at Just Add Ink is an inspiration picture.  I adore this photo – there are so many on trend elements you can use on your project.  I especially love the copper jug.

I tried to carry over as many of the elements from the pic as I could.  I’ve had my Stampin’ Up! Copper Foil Sheets sitting on my desk for a while now and thought this weeks challenge was the perfect time to use them.  Does anyone else not want to use products as you don’t want to waste them?  That’s me with these sheets – even though I know I can buy more…..

For the background of my card I ink up Hardwood with some Smoky Slate Ink and finger-walked the stamp over Whisper White cardstock.  The DSP paper is from a retired pack called Urban Underground Specialty DSP.  I’ve cut this circle with my Circle Framelits. The Whisper White circle is cut with my Stitched Shapes Framelit Dies.

The copper sentiment is a cut with a new-to-me die called Happy Birthday Thinlit Die. I know I will be getting a lot of use out of this one!  The leaves are cut with Stylish Stems Framelit Dies (retired) and Flourish Thinlits Dies.  The little yellow flowers are from Garden in Bloom and they are stamped in So Saffron.  I’ve used a strip of Copper Foil and Burlap Ribbon under everything, but you can only see a smidge of them.  I really must learn to cut a small piece for each end, rather than the whole piece…..that way I wouldn’t have to worry about wasting them! 😉

Here’s my card:

The design team at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous cards as always to inspire you. Make sure you pop over to the challenge and take a look.

ColourQ Challenge #360 & Viva la Verve Sketch Challenge

Hey Everyone

I managed to organise myself this weekend and found time to play along with some challenges.  I’ve combined my card for the following two challenges – the colour challenge at colourQ and the sketch challenge at Viva la Verve.

It’s been ages since I’ve gone with a worn and torn/vintagey type card.  I forgot how messy I get my fingers when I sponge! Here’s my card:

We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink for you.  This week is inspiration picture week.  This challenge has been suggested by Di.

I’m making a start on Christmas cards because before we know it, Christmas will be upon us! I’ve used my Swirly Scribbles Thinlits to create the wreath and used a retired Stampin’ Up! Christmas stamp set called Watercolour Winter for the foliage and pine cone.  Here’s my card:

The Challenge #61 & Retro Sketches #204

Hey Everyone

I’m back with another card I made today.  This time I’ve combined my card for the inspiration picture challenge at The Challenge and the sketch challenge at Retro Sketches.

I fell in love with the vintage feel in the inspiration pic and as I’m a sucker for neutrals, woodgrain and smidges of pink, I knew I had to play along. As always Retro Sketches’ layers are right up my alley. It was so easy to combine these two challenges.  Stampin’ Up!s Garden in Bloom is a stamp set I haven’t used in ages so I dusted it off and and gave it a run.  I’ve paired it with some leaves I cut with Botanical Builder Framelit Dies.  The woodgrain panel was created by stamping Hardwood in Tip Top Taupe on to Sahara Sand card stock.  I then used a variety of stamps from Stampin’ Up!s Timeless Textures for the background..  The sentiment is from Four You.  Here’s what I came up with:

Hey Everyone

I’ve had a busy, busy weekend but managed to sneak in a card for two challenges – Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge and colourQ Colour Challenge.

There are some truly wonderful people out there in this creative world of ours.  I’ve met loads of friends through this wide world of blogging and one special friend recently helped me so much when I needed her. I don’t even know if she really knew how much – so I made her a card to say I was touched by her words.

Here’s my card (and it was definitely made with love):

Just Add Ink #254

Hey Everyone

We have a colour challenge for you at Just Add Ink this week.

JAI254pic

This many colours normally scare me but I love how easy these earthy colours came together.  To create my background I inked up Stampin’ Up!s Hardwood stamp with Baked Brown Sugar ink. To lighten the colour, I stamped it off once on scrap paper and then finger walked it over the card stock. I then inked up Dictionary and finger walked it in random spots on the cardstock. I sponged Baked Brown Sugar around the edges to take the starkness off the white cardstock.  To finish off the background I stamped the splotches from Gorgeous Grunge.  My flowers and leaves are from Stampin’ Up!s Bloom with Hope. Here’s my card:
