Freshly Made Sketches #275

Hey Everyone

It’s that time again where it’s my turn to design the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  As always, I feel the pressure when it’s my turn to come up with a card.

So my idea for this card started off with Blushing Bride and hearts, but this is how it ended up…..not pink and no hearts. The Stampin’ Up! stamp set I’ve used is Jar of Love and I’ve used a sentiment with Greetings Thinlits.

Freshly Made Sketches #256

Hey Everyone

We have a new sketch for you over at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch designer this week is the wonderfully talented Jennifer Timko.  Jennifer’s cards are lovely and clean – head over to her blog and be prepared to be inspired.

Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper has some gorgeous papers in it.  I chose this stripe-y-watercolour- like paper to use as a banner.  I dragged out Summer Silhouettes – it’s my all-time favourite leaves stamp and inked it up in Pear Pizzazz.  The flowers are from a set called Swirly Bird and I’ve stamped them in Dapper Denim and Peekaboo Peach – a combination I think is really sweet together.

CAS(E) This Sketch! #186 & colourQ Challenge #355

Hey Everyone

Hope you’ve all had a wonderful weekend – it’s almost over in Australia as I’m writing this post :(.  I managed to sneak in a card this weekend that wasn’t for design team stuff.  I’ve combined my card for two challenges that I love and that work out time perfect for when I’m looking for challenges on a Sunday afternoon – the sketch challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch! and the colour challenge at colourQ. Here are their inspiration pics:

Birthday Blossoms is such a pretty set and perfect for watercolouring.  The stripey DSP I’ve used is from Pop of Pink Specialty DSP and the sentiments I’ve used are from Greetings Thinlit Dies and Happy Birthday Everyone. Three sequins and my card was done!  Here’s what I came up with:

ColourQ Challenge #323

Hey Everyone

I’m back with a card that I made for the colour challenge at colourQ.  I am loving these colours together:

I think I’ve said this before that I often need help with a layout when I’m combing more than two colours.  For inspiration I’ve used this sketch from the already closed challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch.  I liked it as soon as I saw it for my card as it made combining these colours really easy.

I’ve gone with Stampin’ Up!s retired Six Sided Sampler and Tape It.

Freshly Made Sketches #200

Hey Everyone

It’s here!!! It’s our 200th Challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  For this special celebration we have sponsors donating wonderful prizes. Take a look at all the amazing sponsors below – they have truly made this challenge into something special!

FMS Final 200 Sponsors-001

Here’s our sketch for you to create your card.  This sketch can be interpreted in so many different ways (as is shown by the fabulous inspiration from the Clean Team and all of the Design Team members from the sponsored companies).

FMS200sketch

I had a day off work last week and I think I spent half the day trying to put a card together. Instead of a straight line through the middle of the sketch, I cut my cardstock on an angle just for something different.  I know I have a few more layers on my card than what is on the sketch, but if you know my cards, you’d know how hard it is for me to keep the layers to a minimum.

The colour combo I’ve used is Whisper White, Basic Black and Coastal Cabana.  My “Thanks” sentiment is from Stampin’ Up!s Greetings Thinlits and is cut twice and glued together. I then added a layer of Crystal Effects to give it a glossy finish – it’s a bit hard to see the glossiness in my photo but it’s there.  The “To a Good Friend” sentiment is from Stampin’ Up!s Happy Birthday Everyone set.  The DSPs I’ve used are Stampin’ Up! packs.  The Basic Black paper is from Everyday Chic DSP and the Coastal Cabana papers are from a retired stack called Fresh Prints DSP Stack. And lastly the butterfly is from Butterfly Basics.

Here’s my card:

We have loads of inspiration for you over at Freshly Made Sketches, so head over and take a look.  We can’t wait to see what you create! Good luck with the prizes!

Freshly Made Sketches #195

Hey Everyone

Whenever I need a little inspiration to create a card, I find a a great sketch as my starting point.  Like this weeks fabulous sketch at Freshly Made Sketches that’s been designed by the talented Kim Singhdahlsen. This one’s a keeper for sure!

FMS195sketh

I created this card for one of the girls at work who is retiring after being with us pretty much forever. I love it when a card comes together with ease. I was able to bang this one out in less than 1/2 an hour (that’s pretty good for me!).  The image and sentiment I’ve used are from Stampin’ Up! Hostess sets called Best Thoughts and Happy Birthday Everyone.  The “Thanks” sentiment is made with a die from Greetings Thinlits. The designer series papers are from Everyday Chic DSP.  I think I have every Black & White/Cream DSP pack that Stampin’ Up! has made!

The team has (as always) created wonderful cards to inspire you – head over to Freshly Made Sketches and check them out.
