Just Add Ink #482

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  Our challenge for this week is a sketch challenge. Take a look at this fabulous sketch!

Sketch challenges are the perfect way to start off a card.  They’re my go-to when I’m struggling with a layout. Once I’ve chosen a stamp stamp, I then sit down and work out a colour combination.  For this card I’ve gone with a more traditional festive colour scheme – Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake and Mint Macaron.

The card I’ve created showcases the Santa from the Holly Jolly Christmas Stamp Set.  I love him and had fun giving him some colour with my blends.  The sentiment on my card is also from this stamp set.  Even though this designer series paper isn’t a traditional Christmas pack, I think this piece from Garden Lane DSP works really well.  The ribbon I’ve added to my tags is so pretty and I find I want to use it on every card at the moment.  This Cherry Cobbler 3/8″ Diagonal Stripe Ribbon is from the Holiday Catalogue.

The team at Just Add Ink have created awesome cards using this sketch.  Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

A Yellow Christmas Rose with Very Versailles

Hey Everyone

For the project I’m sharing today, I’ve used products from the Christmastime Is Here Suite – paired with some products from the Annual Catalogue.  I’ve been making quite a few Christmas cards with this suite, but I wanted to try a card that wasn’t a festive card.  By trimming down the image and adding a sentiment from another set, I think I achieved a non-festive feel.

To create this card, I stamped the rose image from A Christmas Rose Stamp Set and fussy cut out the rose and leaves I needed for one side of the image.  I then stamped a second rose image and fussy cut out only a second set of leaves.  The second set of leaves has been layered to the right of the sentiment on my card.  The remainder of the rose and foliage has been put aside for the the card I need the rose for.

The rose image was stamped in Black Memento Ink and coloured with a combination of So Saffron and Daffodil Delight Blends. The leaves and little berries have been coloured with Mint Macaron and Calypso Coral Blends. The little pine cone was been quickly coloured with my Crumb Cake Blends.

Because I’d used Mint Macaron Blends, I chose a piece of Mint Macaron DSP from Garden Lane Designer Series Paper for the background.  I ran my fingernail quickly around the edge of the DSP to rough it up for a vintage-y feel.  I took a piece of Whisper White Cardstock and stamped the background script stamp from Very Versailles Stamp Set.  Because I used this stamp set of the background, I chose the sentiment from this set also.  I ran my nail around each of these too.

For my layering, I added a strip of Daffodil Delight Cardstock, a torn piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock and a strip of Very Vanilla 3/8″ Scallped Lace Trim.  Embellishments always finish off a card for me – this time I added three Gold Glitter Enamel Dots.

Here’s my card:

Artisan Design Team Blog Hop – Garden Lane DSP & Band Together Stamp Set

Hey Everyone

Woohoo! It’s time for another Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop. I’m always super excited the team gets to share what they’ve created.

This month I’ve created cards featuring the Band Together Bundle as well as the gorgeous Garden Lane Designer Series Paper. This is a great month to buy Designer Series Paper Packs, because if you buy three packs, you get one pack free!  This special is only available until 30th September, 2019, so you might want to think about putting in an order soon.

I like to design ranges of cards using the same products but all with a different look.

My first card has a strip of DSP from the Garden Lane Designer Series pack matted with Sahara Sand Cardstock across the centre of the card.  I tore the bottom of the Sahara Sand Cardstock for a vintage-y feel. I really, really love Stampin’ Up!s Very Vanilla 3/8″ Scalloped Lace Trim (as you can tell as I used it on all three cards!) and I think this works well with the vintage-y feel.  Because I can’t have enough details, I threw in some Linen Thread strips and tied a bow.

The pretty flowers from the Band Together Stamp Set have been stamped in Black Memento Ink and watercoloured with Elegant Eggplant Ink.  I added a heavier touch of ink with my Aqua Painter to the creases of the petals to add depth and dimension.  I then added Ivory and Daffodil Delight Blends to colour the centre of the flower. The stems were also lightly watercoloured with Mint Macaron and Old Olive Inks.

The sentiment I’ve used is also from the Band Together Stamp Set and is matted with Sahara Sand Cardstock.

For my second card, I added a rectangle of DSP and layered strips of Mossy Meadow and Sahara Sand Cardstock over the top.  And, as you can see, my favourite lace trim is there – it’s all about the details!  The flowers have been given the same treatment and the sentiment I’ve used is also from the Band Together Stamp Set.

My final card (and I think my favourite layout) has three strips of DSP, a Whisper White Cardstock circle, Mossy Meadow and Sahara Sand Cardstock strips, some Linen Thread and of course, THAT ribbon!  I chose the flower buds image from the Band Together Stamp Set for this card and added some Mossy Meadow leaves cut with my Detailed Bands Dies.

I hope you like what I’ve created!  The next creative Artisan along the way is my friend Rochelle Blok – she creates projects that I’m always in awe of. Click on her name or the button below to take you to her blog.

Freshly Made Sketches #400 Week 2

Hey Everyone

Welcome to the second week of Freshly Made Sketches month of celebrations.  Week 2 sees us revisit our 200th sketch.

This sketch had me reaching for my Dashing Deer Bundle to pair with some Garden Lane DSP.  I love it when I can work products into projects for something other than they were designed for.  This Garden Lane DSP isn’t a traditional pack of Christmas papers, but I think it works perfect for my festive card.

My deer has been cut out with my Detailed Deer Thinlits Dies.  To tie in with the colours in the DSP, I used Mossy Meadow Cardstock for him.  I added some strips of Mint Macaron and Sahara Sand Cardstocks under the sentiment as well as piece of Braided Linen Trim.  For a bit of sparkle I added some Noble Peacock Rhinestones.

The team have created wonderful cards using this sketch.  Why don’t you pop over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created?  We would love it if you played along with us!

Thanks for stopping by.

Morning Magnolia Thrown Together

Hey Everyone

On the weekend I decided I’m the messy cardmaker ever.  Some of the Artisan Design Team filmed their craft spaces for us to view – which were totally amazing by the way.  I was in awe.  My room however, was totally putrid and I was too embarrassed to show it.  A clean up then followed……for about 1/2 hour and then I got bored.  So instead of putting things away, I decided to create a card from a magnolia image I had laying on my desk as well as some DSP cut offs.  That was much for fun than cleaning! Cleaning can wait for another day right?

The rectangles of designer series paper I used are from Garden Lane DSP and Woven Threads DSP.  The amazing magnolia image is from the Good Morning Magnolia Stamp Set.  I gave the petals colour with my Petal Pink and Crumb Cake Blends and the centre with Daffodil Delight Blends.  The leaves have been coloured with my Mint Macaron Blends.

The sentiment I’ve used is also from the Good Morning Magnolia Stamp Set. I added a strip of Sahara Sand Cardstock and a piece of Very Vanilla 3/8″ Scalloped Lace Trim. Pretty quick and easy as I already had everything stamped, cut out and ready to go.

Here’s the card I created:
