Freshly Made Sketches #200

Hey Everyone

It’s here!!! It’s our 200th Challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  For this special celebration we have sponsors donating wonderful prizes. Take a look at all the amazing sponsors below – they have truly made this challenge into something special!

FMS Final 200 Sponsors-001

Here’s our sketch for you to create your card.  This sketch can be interpreted in so many different ways (as is shown by the fabulous inspiration from the Clean Team and all of the Design Team members from the sponsored companies).

I had a day off work last week and I think I spent half the day trying to put a card together. Instead of a straight line through the middle of the sketch, I cut my cardstock on an angle just for something different.  I know I have a few more layers on my card than what is on the sketch, but if you know my cards, you’d know how hard it is for me to keep the layers to a minimum.

The colour combo I’ve used is Whisper White, Basic Black and Coastal Cabana.  My “Thanks” sentiment is from Stampin’ Up!s Greetings Thinlits and is cut twice and glued together. I then added a layer of Crystal Effects to give it a glossy finish – it’s a bit hard to see the glossiness in my photo but it’s there.  The “To a Good Friend” sentiment is from Stampin’ Up!s Happy Birthday Everyone set.  The DSPs I’ve used are Stampin’ Up! packs.  The Basic Black paper is from Everyday Chic DSP and the Coastal Cabana papers are from a retired stack called Fresh Prints DSP Stack. And lastly the butterfly is from Butterfly Basics.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #145

Hey Everyone

It’s time for another sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and this week our hostess is me! I finally mastered a sketch using MDS (with the help of Jennifer – thanks Jennifer!). I have tried to use it before but have always ended up chucking it in and ended up creating my sketch in Powerpoint instead. This time I persisted – yay for my persistence!

FMS145sketch

As usual my card started off with one theme and totally ended up with another theme.  I’ve had a few requests lately for masculine cards and I thought the sketch would work just as well for a man card as the feminine florally card I originally had in mind. The stamp sets I’ve used are Positively Chevron, The Open Seas, Gorgeous Grunge the sentiment is from Work of Art – I’m loving it at the moment.

We’d love for you to join us this week. Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and check out the fabulous inspiration from the design team.

The Card Concept #14

Hey Everyone

Nothing from me for two weeks, then two cards in one day!  The card I’ve made is for this weeks colour challenge at The Card Concept.  Take a look at these pretty colours:

CC14pic

I really love this combo together, but have never tried to create a shabby card with them.  I used white cardstock as my base colour (something I never really do much of).  I started off using black, but it was too much in my face and felt too dark for a shabby card.

The Paper Players #199 & The Challenge #8

Hey Everyone

I’ve doubled up my challenges for my second card tonight – Jaydee’s colour challenge at The Paper Players and Lesley’s sketch challenge from The Challenge. Here are their inspiration pics:

I really love Lesley’s sketch as I felt it really suited my layers that I love to add to pretty much every card I make.  I debated about putting blue leaves on my card but that’s what I ended up with and I have to say – I don’t really mind them!  Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #139

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday so that means we have a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! This week our sketch to brought to you by the lovely and very creative Rita Wright.  Even thought I adore Rita’s sketch as it is, I ended up flipping the sketch as it worked for my sentiment/butterfly combo.

Freshly Made Sketches #137

Hey Everyone

Hopefully this post works as I’ve scheduled it while I’m off galavanting at Stampin’ Up!s Annual Convention.  Even though it’s being held in Melbourne, and would only take me 1/2 hr to drive into the Convention Centre, I’m staying in an apartment with the girls from Just Add Ink so I can have 5 full days and nights of cardmaking talk – I’m gonna be sleep deprived when I get home 🙂

The card I’ve made is for this weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches – our hostess being the fabulous Jen Mitchell.

I’ve gone with a quick and simple card today (mainly coz I ran out of time on the weekend with swaps to organise, roomies gifts to make & a card class all day Sunday).  The stamp sets I’ve used are Banner Blast and Itty Bitty Banners and I’ve matched my banners to the colours in this great DSP from Fresh Prints Designer Series Stack.

Merry Monday Challenge #107

Hey Everyone

I recently decided that I needed to make a start on my Christmas card stash.  The Christmas Card Challenge I love to play along with is Merry Monday.  I was thrilled that I won the challenge with this card and then I was asked by the Design Team to Guest Design this week.  Here’s their sketch:

MMC107pic

I just love this Santa’s face from Stampin’ Up!s Santa’s List – I think he works really well with the sketch.  As you can probably tell I’m addicted to Fresh Prints Designer Series Stack and love that these non-traditional Christmas papers work for a Christmas card too! A bit of faux washi, a mini clip and a sentiment from More Merry Messages and my card was done.  Here’s what I came up with:

The Design Team is sure to wow you with their cards – head over to Merry Monday and check them out. Hopefully you can win a challenge like me and have the opportunity to play along with this fabulous team.  Thanks for the opportunity ladies!

Thanks for stopping by.
