Freshly Made Sketches #288

Hey Everyone

The newest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches has been designed by Jen Mitchell.  I was a fan of Jen’s as soon as I discovered blog-land.  Her cards are always amazing and inspiring.  Head over to her blog and take a look at her beautiful cards!

So, as you can see, I flipped the sketch for my card as I wanted to use a new stamp set called Tranquil Tulips.  This set is a Hostess Stamp Set and is available in the 2017-2018 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue.  The colour I’ve used for my tulips is Berry Burst and for the leaves I used Lemon Lim Twist.  I’ve already decided I’m in love with these colours!  The sentiment is one I already had stamped on my desk (discarded from a previous project) from the set stamp Four You.

Here’s my card:

The design team at Freshly Made Sketches have aced this sketch. Head over to the blog and take a look at the wonderful cards the girls have created.

TGIFC #103 Sketch Challenge

Hey Everyone

I had trouble getting motivated cleaning up my craft room on Sunday as we had a break in early on Sunday morning.  Who breaks into a garage at 9am on Easter Sunday?  Apparently criminals in my area…..  Because I was so sidetracked and couldn’t concentrate on my tidying my craft room, I decided to whip up a quick card for the challenge at TGIF Challenge.  And I do mean quick……it took no time at all!

High Tide is fast becoming my favourite man card go-to stamp set.  The colours I have used on my card are Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Soft Sky.  The sentiment I have used is from Four You (I know, I use it all the time – but it’s the perfect size and I love the font!).  A bit of Linen Thread and a couple of Candy Dots and my card was done.

Here’s what I created:

Freshly Made Sketches #276

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch hostess this week is the wonderfully talented Amy O’Neill.  Amy creates gorgeous cards and can combine colours like no other!

I’ve chosen a hot air balloon as the focal point from Stampin’ Up!s Up and Away Thinlit dies. I chose a white balloon with black card stock underneath to make it stand out.  I then sponged a bit of Soft Sky on the background and stamped the water droplet type stamp from Timeless Textures for a bit of extra interest. I sponged a tinge of blue around my clouds so they weren’t as stark and so you could see the edges of the clouds.  My sentiment is from For You and is heat embossed on black card stock with white embossing powder.

Here’s my card:

Oh I love this sketch! I made my card in no time! It helped that I already had these flowers cuts out that I had discarded from another project.

Freshly Made Sketches #255

Hey Everyone

Goodness, 255 is a lot of sketches! I remember when Lesley started Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.  I played along with the very first sketch.  I looked back at my card and I totally wished I hadn’t – it sucked! Think I’ve improved along the way – well I hope I have 😉

Our resident Stampin’ Up! Artisan Designer, Amy O’Neill, is our sketch hostess this week.  She is such a talented card maker and an awesome sketch designer. Take a look at her sketch:

As I’m on holidays, my husband organised for my mum to come for a sleep over.  She loves Stampin’ Up! as much as I do and as I don’t have Jar of Love yet, she let me have a play with hers.  I’ve now ordered it as I love it so much. Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink #327

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This weeks challenge is a colour challenge and has been suggested by Jan.

JAI327pic

As I mentioned in my previous post, I spent Saturday wandering around Paperific, a craft show here in Melbourne.  Craft shows are perfect if you want to get inspired (which I did) and is also good if you want to learn how to use new products.  At one point Rochelle and I were standing watching a demonstration when we spied a striking card that had a light blue and dark blue background with a white die cut sentiment.  For the life of me (because I’m not a big technique crafter) I couldn’t tell you the technique that was used – but I liked the effect. Rochelle gave me the challenge of re-creating a card like it.  Unbelievably the challenge colours at Just Add Ink are exactly what I needed to accept Rochelle’s challenge.

To create my background I have heat embossed the leaves and flowers from Birthday Blossoms with white embossing powder on watercolour paper.  I then spritzed the paper with water and then watercoloured, quite haphazardly, a combination of Soft Sky and Denim Dapper Ink.  The little flowers I’ve used are from Swirly Bird and the die cut leaves are from Botanical Builder Framelits.  The “Happy” sentiment is created with Hello You Thinlit Dies and the “Birthday” sentiment is from Four You. Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink #325

Hey Everyone

Sketches challenges are my favourite!  Tina has designed this fab one for us at Just Add Ink.

JAI325sketch

I really love this colour combination together – Tip Top Taupe, Basic Black and Hello Honey.  I don’t own a ric rac die so I’ve settled for stripey DSP – I like the striking effect of it behind the white panels.  The flower I’ve water coloured with Hello Honey ink is from Stampin’ Up!s Birthday Blooms. My leaves are coloured with Pear Pizzazz and Always Artichoke ink.  Here’s my card:
