Pals Paper Arts #286

Hey Everyone

I managed make a card for this weeks Pals Paper Arts Challenge and even took a photo on the weekend, but didn’t have a chance to write this post until now.  My good friend Linda is this weeks sketch hostess at PPA and as soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to play along.

I did something with this card that I never normally do.  I stamped my sentiment and I stuck my sequins on with glu-dots before I even worked out what I was putting on my card.  Glu-dots are sticky little buggers and don’t want to come off without tearing your cardstock. I realised I need to flip the sketch to work for my card work – I could then match up my twine with the button and fit my leaves properly.

Merry Monday #44

Hey Everyone

Merry Monday is back for 2013! Lesley is changing it up this year so there will be a mix of sketches, colour combinations and inspiration challenges.  For our first week back our challenge is to create a project using the following colours:

I’m letting my designer series paper do most of the work for my card today.  Both DSPs are from Stampin’ Up!s Festival of Prints DSP stack and I think work really well with the challenge colours.

Thanks for stopping by.

Head over to Lesley’s blog and check out the gorgeous inspiration the Design Team have created – and if you have time why don’t you create a card for Christmas? (it’s never too early to start, you know).

Sweet Sunday Sketch #174 & ColourQ Challenge #168

Hey Everyone

I’ve been wanting to play along with the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge for ages and finally found the time today. I really love this sketch so that was what drew me in.

SSSketch174 & CQ168

I’ve teamed the sketch with this weeks colour challenge over at ColourQ.

These colours initially said Christmas to me, but I decided to go with a feminine card and use my Pleasant Poppies instead.  All my designer series papers is from Festival of Prints DSP Stack.  In the past I’ve mainly used these paper for Christmas cards but I love that they can be changed up for a non-holiday card too. Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #66

Hey Everyone

Tui is this weeks hostess over at Freshly Made Sketches.  She’s given us this great sketch that I know I’ll be using again. Thanks Tui!

I’ve done my Christmas cards for the year, so I’m making a head start on next years cards. I’ve combined a retired Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Tree Trimmings with Candlelight Christmas Specialty DSP for this one. Here’s my card:

The Paper Players #121 & Mojo Monday #267

Hey Everyone

I’ve got a quick one for you tonight.  I’ve made my card for two challenges – Anne Marie’s colour challenge at The Paper Players and the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday.  Here’s their inspiration pics:

I went hunting for any DSP that had Old Olive in it and came up with these ones, both are from Stampin’ Up!s Festival of Prints DSP Stack.  For a while there I couldn’t incorporate More Mustard onto my card but then decided I would use it for my flowers (pretty obvious that’s where I should use it, but it didn’t come to me straight away!) Here’s my card:

Thanks for stopping by.

Products Used:
Cardstock: Bravo Burgundy, Very Vanilla, Festival of Prints DSP Stack
Ink: More Mustard, Bravo Burgundy
Stamp Sets: Summer Silhouettes, Petite Pairs
Other Products: Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon (retired), Circle Punches, Basic Pearls

Freshly Made Sketches #60

Hey Everyone

Over at Freshly Made Sketches, Tui has come up with this fabulous sketch.  I’m so into circles as the focal point on my cards right now, so I knew this sketch was for me.

This is my first time using Evergreen – I soooooo wanted it and haven’t even inked it up until now.  I figured I’d better use it before it retired! Here’s what I came up with:

I initially had one tree on my card, but I felt it was a little plain so I stamped a second one – now I don’t know if I’ve gone overboard :).

Products Used:
Cardstock: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Candlelight Christmas Specialty DSP, Festival of Prints DSP
Ink: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake
Stamp Sets: Evergreen, Petite Pairs
Other Products: Seam Binding (not SU), Circle Punches, Circle Scissor (retired)

Merry Monday Challenge #39

Hey Everyone

I’m back and this time with my card for Lesley’s Merry Monday Challenge.  How are you going with your Christmas cards?  I’ve got so many, I’ll be right for the next three Christmases!

I’ve used my newest Stampin’ Up! Christmas stamp called Watercolour Winter.  I stamped the outline with Early Espresso and then I coloured my holly and berries in Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive directly onto the stamp.  I then used my trusty old stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the colours with the outline. Because the main panel is wide I stamped the image twice and fussy cut it to make it fit.  Here’s my card:

We’d love to see you join us this week – head over to the challenge and check out the gorgeous creations the design team have created. Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #56

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday, so that means there’s a new sketch over Freshly Made Sketches.  Rita is this weeks hostess and she has come up with this fabulous sketch.

Freshly Made Sketches is a great challenge for me as it makes me create a cleaner style of card than I usually make. I absolutely love Spice Cake DSP but didn’t think ahead and buy more before it retired 😦  I’ve teamed it with a strip of Festival of Prints DSP – I really love Early Espresso and Pool Party together.  I stopped my self-impossed ban on Stippled Blossoms (felt I was over-using it!) and have used this for my card today.

Here’s what I came up with:

Hey Everyone

I’ve got a quick card for your tonight.  Freshly Made Sketches are celebrating one year of challenges – Happy Anniversary Design Team! This week we could use any of the past sketches – here’s the sketch I chose from week 38:

I’ve also combined my card for this weeks Dynamic Duos colour challenge.  This weeks challenge colours are – Basic Black and Lucky Limeade.  If there’s a colour challenge with black in it, I’m up for it.  The dessert option is to make a Halloween card, but as I don’t have any Halloween stamps, I’m dessertless.

Here’s my card:
