Just Add Ink #256

Hey Everyone

Time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This weeks sketch has been designed by Tina.

JAI256sketch

I really love Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla together but I can never photograph it really well.  I originally had some newsprint rolled roses on my card but when I tried to take a photo of it, they were kind of lost with my neutral colour scheme.I decided to take them off and substitute them with Coastal Cabana rolled roses.  I then tied in a blue butterfly to finish it off.  It was only when I started to write this post did I realise that I put my sentiment in the wrong spot – oops! Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink #207

Hey Everyone

We have a sketch for you at Just Add Ink this week.  Kim is our hostess and she’s designed this wonderful sketch.

JAI207sketch

I was looking around my room the other day for my missing circle scissor cutting blade and came across some lace, vintage buttons and some Rose Red seam binding together in a pack.  I couldn’t quite remember what the name of this pack was but I really love the lace and decided it would be the starting point on my card.  I don’t have any doilies so I thought the lace would work just as well.   In case you’re wondering, I still can’t find my blade 😦

The Card Concept #2

Hey Everyone

I’m back with my second card today – this time I’m back with my card for The Card Concept where I am creating cards in the Shabby/Vintage style.  We were so thrilled that we had over 100 entries – thanks to everyone for making it an amazing first challenge!

Our challenge this week is to create a card using texture.  We’ve also provided the pic below that you can take inspiration from.

CC2pic

I don’t actually have any housey type images that I love, so my inspiration came from the colours that I got from the pic – Crumb Cake, Old Olive and Cajun Craze.  My texture came in the form of burlap that I felt resembled the texture of the shingled roof.  To add extra texture I embossed my hand-cut heart.  I’ve left my card sentiment-less as I didn’t think it actually needed one – it’s also nice to have some blank cards up my sleeve.  As I’m typing this post, I just realised I created a card with no stamping – that doesn’t happen very often in my world!  Here’s what I created:

Mojo Monday #329 & IBSIC #73

Hey Everyone

The card I’m sharing today is inspired by this gorgeous shabby creation by Julie Gearinger.  I love how Julie has used the vintage sign from Stampin’ Up!s Fan Fair DSP as the main focus on her card so when I saw that the colour challenge at Inspired by Stamping was Pink, Red & Cream – I decided to use the same piece of DSP.  I then unintentionally covered it up with my spray of flowers, but you can see the edges of it 🙂  The second challenge at Inspired by Stamping is to create a project using a tag – so I have created a tag and placed it on my card.

The layout for my card comes from this weeks Mojo Monday sketch.  This is such a versatile sketch that I’ll be using again.

At the start of my holiday I mentioned that I had been asked to create two cards for one of my friends at work – a 30th birthday card for her sister (click here if you’d like to see it) and a 60th birthday card for her mum.  I think I might offer her this one for her mum.  Do you think this card works for a 60th birthday?

Stampin’ Royalty #210 & The Deconstructed Sketch #134

Hey Everyone

I said I wasn’t going to get out to my craft room until the weekend but it got the better of me and I decided to head out there first thing this morning.  I figured how hot could it be at 8.30am???  Let me tell you it was extremely hot – 36°C.  It’s going to hit 44°C before the change comes through at about 8pm tonight – I can’t wait!  Although I shouldn’t be sooking – it’s not like I’m one of the tennis players playing in the Australian Open at the moment.  I can’t believe they’re still playing in the heat!

I’ve combined challenges for my card – inspiration picture at Stampin’ Royalty and the sketch challenge at The Deconstructed Sketch.

Card Concept Challenge #1

Hey Everyone

I’m a BIT excited about this post as it’s my first one designing with the amazingly talented team at The Card Concept.  I’m extremely honoured that Lesley asked me to be part of this new challenge and I want to say a huge thank you for the opportunity – if she lived on this side of the world I’d give her the biggest hug!

I’m designing along with Debbie Marcinkiewicz in the Shabby/Vintage style.  Here’s a definition of our style:

Definition:

  • the use of used, worn or inexpensive components to make stylish goods
  • distressed or sponged edges
  • old feel-antiqued
  • lots of embellishments
  • ribbons or lace
  • lots of layers

Our first challenge is a colour challenge:

CC!pic

I’m a huge lover of feminine florally cards (just in case you didn’t know!), so when I saw there was pink in the challenge colours I knew I wanted to create a card a girly card with pink blossoms.  The blossoms are from a Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Everything Eleanor and the leaves are my favourite from a stamp set called Summer Silhouettes. Here’s what I created:

The design team have created gorgeous inspiration for you so head over to the challenge and take a look.  We’d love for you to join us for our very first challenge at The Card Concept.  I can’t wait see your style.

Mojo Monday #324 & Inspired by Stamping #70

Hey Everyone

I haven’t done much creating this weekend as I finally got myself organised and finished off my Christmas shopping – I was a bit panicked that I wouldn’t have anything to give anyone!

The card I’m sharing today is for this weeks Mojo Monday sketch challenge and the colour challenge at Inspired by Stamping.  Here’s their inspiration pics:

Inspired by Stamping WHW – Using Markers on your Stamps

Hey Everyone

This is my 3rd and final post for today – I was rapt to be back in my craft room after my 2 week Gold Coast holiday – can you tell?

This weeks WHW challenge at Inspired by Stamping is Using Markers on your Stamps.  I don’t have many Inspired by Stamping stamps that would work for this challenge but managed to find Vintage Postcards and coloured it in lightly (to give it that vintagey feel) with Sahara Sand and Blushing Bride. I added some handmade roses and some leaves made with my Little Leaves Die.  I added a bit of distressing, daubing and a scrunchy bow and my card was done.

I’m also entering this card into Inspired by Stamping’s Customer Gallery too.

Dynamic Duos #61

Hey Everyone

The Design Team at Dynamic Duos have a very pretty colour challenge this week:

DD61pic

I made this card a little while ago and haven’t had a chance to post it until today until I saw the colour challenge matched the colours on my card.  I’ve made some rolled roses by cutting some scallop circles and cutting into them round and round until I hit the centre.  I then gave them a bit of colour by daubing them with Pink Pirouette ink, rolled them and then stuck them together with crystal effects.  I added some leave from the Little Leaves Die and finely cut some Sahara Sand cardstock to finish of the appearance of the bouquet of flowers.
