Retro Sketches #109

Hey Everyone

Have you noticed I’ve been a tad quiet on here lately?  I’m on a family holiday at the moment and I’ve been trying to find the time to take a photo of my cards – I’m really missing my light tent which is showing in my photos.  The card I’m sharing today is for Retro Sketches – take a look at their fabulous sketch.

My mum has been asking me to show her how I made Ranunculas (not sure if what I make is that close to the real ones, but I think it’s close enough).  When I saw Retro Sketches sketch I thought it would be perfect to show them off.  Here’s my card (‘cuse the photo!)

The Card Concept #7, The Deconstructed Sketch #144 & IBSIC #80

Hey Again Everyone

I’m back with my second post tonight and this time it’s for The Card Concept.  Our challenge for you is to create a card with a butterfly theme – easy peasy right?

I found a retired Stampin’ Up! set called Nature Walk that had a butterfly in it that reminded me of the butterfly in the inspiration pic.  The layout for my card is from this weeks Deconstructed Sketch and the colours I’ve used are from the colour challenge at Inspired by Stamping.

The Card Concept #6 & Cardabilities #95

Hey Everyone

I’m back with another card and I’ve just realised I’ve used the same flowers and leaves I used on my previous card.  The cards were made on separate days and I’ve only just realised the posts would go live within a couple of hours of each other!

This week at The Card Concept we have a pretty inspiration pic with a birthday theme for you to create your cards.  I was initially going to re-create the whole wedding cake with flowers to a tee, but decided in the end to leave the cake off and just use the colours from the flowers instead.  I also thought the background in the pic looked a bit woodgrain-ish so I’ve used my new Stampin’ Up! Woodgrain stamp to the background.  The layout for my card is for this weeks sketch challenge at Cardabilities.  I’m also entering my card into Seize The Birthday’s challenge.

The Card Concept #5

Hey Everyone

We had a huge 172 entries for our last challenge at The Card Concept!  We’re thrilled that so many crafty people want to play along with our challenge.  This fortnight we have a colour challenge for you.

CC5pic

I have a story about this card.  This is my second card for the challenge as when I first looked at the inspiration picture I had it in my head that the colours were black, green & white.  It was only when I went to load my original card to our gallery did I realise the colours were supposed to be espresso, green & white.  Note to self – take more notice of the challenge pic BEFORE I make my card! Not entirely sure how I feel about this card, but it was all I could come up with at the last minute. I’ve stamped Stampin’ Up!s Dictionary in the background, but it doesn’t really show up really well in the photo.  The two-toned flowers I’ve stamped are from Stampin’ Up!s Simple Stems and the leaves are my favourite from Summer Silhouettes.

Freshly Made Sketches #126 & SUO #91

Hey Everyone

I had a ball looking the 147 gorgeous entries that played along with my sketch at Freshly Made Sketches last week!  This week the fabulously talent Amy O’Neill is our hostess and she has created this totally cool sketch:

FMS126sketch

I’m loving the colour combination Sahara Sand and Crisp Cantaloupe- it’s a really soft and pretty combination.  Amy’s sketch gave me the opportunity to break open my new Sale-A-Bration banner stamp set called Banner Blast (I’m possibly the last Stampin’ Up! demonstrator in Melbourne to ink it up for the first time).  As I’m using banners I’m also entering my card into SUO’s Banner Fun Challenge.

We’d love for you to join us so head over to Freshly Made Sketches and link up a card – while you’re there check out the gorgeous inspiration from the design team.

The Deconstructed Sketch #140, Create with Connie & Mary #292 & Friday Mashup #149

Hey Everyone

The card I’m sharing today I managed to sneak in for three challenges – The Deconstructed Sketch, Create with Connie & Mary and The Friday Mashup.

DS140sketch

CCMC292pic

The challenge at the Friday Mashup is to create a project with flowers.  The flower I’ve used is from Stampin’ Up!s Flower Shop and the leaves are from Secret Garden.  The extra green foliage I’ve added was created by my new fabulous fringing scissors.  The scallop border was created by using my scallop border punch that I wrapped around the circle of Summer Starfruit DSP.  To get it to bend neatly I cut little knicks into the edge.

Freshly Made Sketches #124

Hey Everyone

Another Wednesday, means a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week my sweet stamping friend from across the ditch, Karren Johnson, is our hostess with her first ever sketch for Freshly Made Sketches.

FMS124sketch

Karren has created an amazing sketch that I know you’re going to love.  I tried a new-to-me colour combo (Basic Black, Summer Starfruit & Sahara Sand) courtesy of Stampin’ Up!s Sale-a-Bration DSP called Sweet Sorbet.  The flowers are from a Stampin’ Up stamp set called Stippled Blossoms and the leaves are from Summer Silhouettes.  The sentiment is from a set called Express Yourself.

Come and join in with Karren’s sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  While you’re over at the challenge, check out the gorgeous inspiration from the Clean Team.

The Card Concept #3

Hey Everyone

Welcome to our third Card Concept challenge.  This week is a monochromatic pink challenge.  We have this fabulous inspiration pic to create your projects.

CC3pic

The inspiration for my card came from the pretty pink roses in the photo and I’ve added a green bow that I took from the background in the pic.

Stampin’ Royalty #210 & The Deconstructed Sketch #134

Hey Everyone

I said I wasn’t going to get out to my craft room until the weekend but it got the better of me and I decided to head out there first thing this morning.  I figured how hot could it be at 8.30am???  Let me tell you it was extremely hot – 36°C.  It’s going to hit 44°C before the change comes through at about 8pm tonight – I can’t wait!  Although I shouldn’t be sooking – it’s not like I’m one of the tennis players playing in the Australian Open at the moment.  I can’t believe they’re still playing in the heat!

I’ve combined challenges for my card – inspiration picture at Stampin’ Royalty and the sketch challenge at The Deconstructed Sketch.

Card Concept Challenge #1

Hey Everyone

I’m a BIT excited about this post as it’s my first one designing with the amazingly talented team at The Card Concept.  I’m extremely honoured that Lesley asked me to be part of this new challenge and I want to say a huge thank you for the opportunity – if she lived on this side of the world I’d give her the biggest hug!

CCDesigner Badge

I’m designing along with Debbie Marcinkiewicz in the Shabby/Vintage style.  Here’s a definition of our style:

Definition:

  • the use of used, worn or inexpensive components to make stylish goods
  • distressed or sponged edges
  • old feel-antiqued
  • lots of embellishments
  • ribbons or lace
  • lots of layers

Our first challenge is a colour challenge:

CC!pic

I’m a huge lover of feminine florally cards (just in case you didn’t know!), so when I saw there was pink in the challenge colours I knew I wanted to create a card a girly card with pink blossoms.  The blossoms are from a Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Everything Eleanor and the leaves are my favourite from a stamp set called Summer Silhouettes. Here’s what I created:
