Freshly Made Sketches #322

Hey Everyone

Welcome to a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch has been designed by Cecile Ribon, our wonderfully talented friend from France.

I love me a flower card – can you tell? As soon as I saw Cecile’s fabulous sketch, I automatically visualised a feminine floral card.  It’s hard for me not to with all the pretty floral stamp sets Stampin’ Up! have! The stamp set I’ve used on my card is called Graceful Garden.  The roses are lightly watercoloured with Real Red Ink and then I used my Real Red watercolour pencil to add depth to the petals.  The leaves were given the same treatment with Old Olive Ink and Old Olive watercolour pencil.

The sentiment was cut on my big shot with my Happy Birthday Thinlits Dies .  The designer series paper in the background is from a retired pack called Everyday Chic Designer Series Paper.  I just loved the black and white criss-cross pattern behind the roses, as I think it really shows them off.

Here’s my card:

The team have created gorgeous cards using Cecile’s sketch.  Why don’t you head over to Freshly Made Sketches and take a look?

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #200

Hey Everyone

It’s here!!! It’s our 200th Challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  For this special celebration we have sponsors donating wonderful prizes. Take a look at all the amazing sponsors below – they have truly made this challenge into something special!

FMS Final 200 Sponsors-001

Here’s our sketch for you to create your card.  This sketch can be interpreted in so many different ways (as is shown by the fabulous inspiration from the Clean Team and all of the Design Team members from the sponsored companies).

I had a day off work last week and I think I spent half the day trying to put a card together. Instead of a straight line through the middle of the sketch, I cut my cardstock on an angle just for something different.  I know I have a few more layers on my card than what is on the sketch, but if you know my cards, you’d know how hard it is for me to keep the layers to a minimum.

The colour combo I’ve used is Whisper White, Basic Black and Coastal Cabana.  My “Thanks” sentiment is from Stampin’ Up!s Greetings Thinlits and is cut twice and glued together. I then added a layer of Crystal Effects to give it a glossy finish – it’s a bit hard to see the glossiness in my photo but it’s there.  The “To a Good Friend” sentiment is from Stampin’ Up!s Happy Birthday Everyone set.  The DSPs I’ve used are Stampin’ Up! packs.  The Basic Black paper is from Everyday Chic DSP and the Coastal Cabana papers are from a retired stack called Fresh Prints DSP Stack. And lastly the butterfly is from Butterfly Basics.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #195

Hey Everyone

Whenever I need a little inspiration to create a card, I find a a great sketch as my starting point.  Like this weeks fabulous sketch at Freshly Made Sketches that’s been designed by the talented Kim Singhdahlsen. This one’s a keeper for sure!

I created this card for one of the girls at work who is retiring after being with us pretty much forever. I love it when a card comes together with ease. I was able to bang this one out in less than 1/2 an hour (that’s pretty good for me!).  The image and sentiment I’ve used are from Stampin’ Up! Hostess sets called Best Thoughts and Happy Birthday Everyone.  The “Thanks” sentiment is made with a die from Greetings Thinlits. The designer series papers are from Everyday Chic DSP.  I think I have every Black & White/Cream DSP pack that Stampin’ Up! has made!

The team has (as always) created wonderful cards to inspire you – head over to Freshly Made Sketches and check them out.

I’ve used some new goodies from Stampin’ Up!s 2015-2016 Annual Catalogue.  One of my most favourite things from the catalogue is going to be this thick white cardstock that I have been hanging for.  I think you will be seeing more CAS cards from me (well as CAS as I can get!). I really do like the white on white clean look.  The designer series paper I have used is called Everyday Chic DSP. The flower, butterfly and greeting are from a set called Garden in Bloom.
