Just Add Ink #199

Hey Everyone

It’s Just Add Ink time!  This week Tina has given a fabulous sketch to create our cards:

JAI199sketch

I’m having a seriously bad month with losing things as now I’ve lost the cutting tool for my circle scissor plus – one of my most used Stampin’ Up! tools.  For the life of me I can’t find it anywhere!  I’m just hoping it hasn’t rolled off my desk and into my bin.  If so, then it’s long gone with all my scraps 😦  Because I line a fine mat around my circles I’m cutting two circle the same size with my circle dies. I then trim one down by hand.  If my circles are looking a little off, it’s because of this.  If anyone’s got any tips on how not to lose things I’d be most grateful for your help!

I’m back to using Basic Black at the moment.  I really like how Coastal Cabana just pops when matted with black.  The flower I’ve used is from a Stampin’ Up! set called Simply Sketched and the sentiment I’ve used is from Petite Pairs.

Freshly Made Sketches #119

Hey Everyone

We are in the middle of a major heatwave here in Melbourne so I haven’t really had much of a chance to create as the heat in my craft room is making me melt.  We’re expecting another two days of heat so I don’t think I’ll get much card-making done until the weekend 😦  Fingers crossed we don’t lose power as many homes in Melbourne are without electricity.

This weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches is brought to us by the talented Cindy Lovell.  This is her first sketch with us and I have to say that it’s a super-cool design that I love!

Untitled

I really like this colour combo.  Do you think I can give this card to a man? Or does the yellow make it a bit girlie?  I’ve gone with a star as per Cindy’s sketch but I also snuck another 3 more in there.  I also moved my sentiment to the banner which was actually a mistake as I didn’t look at the sketch as close as I should’ve!

Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #264 & Mojo Monday #306

Hey Everyone

I’m in love the colour combo over at Create with Connie & Mary this week!!!

CCMC264pic

I’ve teamed their colour challenge with the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday.  Here’s their sketch:

Mojo306Sketch

When I first saw Stampin’ Up!s 2013-2014 In Colours I seriously didn’t know if I was going to like them.  Not sure why because I am totally loving them now, especially Pistachio Pudding.  I tend to jump to the wrong conclusion on some products – ie. when I first saw Artistic Etchings, I said to a friend that I wouldn’t be ordering it as I didn’t think I’d use it.  How wrong could I be? – it’s one of my favourite vintagey sets. I need to learn to give things a go before I judge them.

I don’t have any new Blushing Bride DSP so I’ve used some retired off-cuts that I found in my stash.  I dyed my seam binding with Pistachio Pudding ink so that it matches my papers, added some leaves from Papaya Collage and the butterflies are from Papillion Potpourri.  I’m loving the softness of these colours and am really happy with my card.

Just Add Ink #177

Hey Everyone

Wow these weeks are flying! It’s Friday again, so that means a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week is a lovely colour combo for you to try.

JAI_CC_178

When I saw this challenge I decided to put in a Stampin’ Up! order as I didn’t have any Soft Sky products.  I may’ve rushed putting in my $400 order as when I finally got my big brown box delivered, there was nothing in there with the words Soft Sky on it except for a Stampin’ Up! marker.  No cardstock, no ink and no clue how I was going to incorporate my Soft Sky marker.  In the end I coloured in the banner stamp from Affection Collection.   It’s there, but only just – can you see it?  Next time I put in an order I think I’ll take my time and check it before I finalise it 🙂  I’ve used my favourite flower again from Flower Shop and added some leaves cut with my Little Leaves Die.  My favourite sentiment at the moment is from Simply Sketched – love this font.

Mojo Monday #304 & Pals Paper Arts #166

Hey Everyone

I didn’t think I’d get a chance to play along with any challenges this weekend, but things just fell into place for me and in the end, I had heaps of time to play.  I decided to “go round” for Mojo Monday’s sketch challenge this week:

Mojo304Sketch

Combining bright colours used to scare me but now I’m happy to play along with colour challenges that I would’ve once considered tricky.  Don’t know when that happened but I don’t consider myself a “neutrals” girl only anymore.  The DT at Pals Paper Arts have a pretty colour combo for us to try – here’s their inspiration pic:

Create with Connie & Mary #262 & Deconstructed Sketch #112

Hey Everyone

The design team at Create with Connie & Mary have a colour challenge that is new to me and luckily I received another Stampin’ Up! delivery today so I was able to join with my new Bermuda Bay ink.

CCM262pic

The layout for my card is for the sketch challenge at The Deconstructed Sketch.  Love the layers on this sketch, so I’ll be using this one again.

DS112sketch

I don’t have any Bermuda Bay designer series paper as yet (wish I could order the whole catalogue at once, then I would have so many choices at hand) so I created my own by swiping my ink pad over the de-bossed side of the spotted embossing folder and then ran some Very Vanilla cardstock through my big shot.  The Smoky Slate DSP is from Eastern Elegance and the Basic Black DSP is from Modern Medley.  Here’s what I came up with:

Just Add Ink Challenge #175

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday so that means a new challenge at Just Add Ink! This week is sketch week and here’s Mae’s fabulous sketch for you to try:

JAI175sketch

I’ve used some new Stampin’ Up! products on my card.  The designer series papers I’ve used is called Eastern Elegance.  The pretty flowers are from a stamp set called Flower Shop (yes, I’ve used them again).  The leaves are from a stamp set called Summer Silhouettes.  I know I use these ones all the time, but they’re my favourite leaves.  Just for a little something extra I added the cute bee from a Stampin’ Up!s retired set called Nature Walk.  Here’s my card:

Pals Paper Arts #164 & Stampin’ Royalty #185

Hey Everyone

I had the day off work today and after I shopped a bit, I spent some time in my craft room. So I created the following card for the sketch challenge at Pals Paper Arts & the inspiration challenge at Stampin’ Royalty.

PPA164sketch

SR185pic

I’ve used a mixture of DSPs from Stampin’ Up!s Eastern Elegance and Afternoon Picnic and combined them with Crumb Cake cardstock.  The stamp sets I’ve used are Everything Eleanor and the leaves are from Simply Sketched. I stamped them in Coastal Cabana and coloured them a bit with my blender pen.  Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #95

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday, so that means a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and guess what? It’s my turn to host again!  This is my second sketch with Freshly Made Sketches and I might’ve managed to sneak a couple more layers in than I did in my last sketch 😉  Here’s what I came up with:

FMS95sketch

I made this card last weekend with some of my new toys.  My card might look a little bit like this card I made last night because I used the same stamp set – Flower Shop – but unlike last nights card, I managed to keep this one clean.  The designer series papers I’ve used are Stampin’ Up!s Modern Medley and the beautiful Coastal Cabana paper is from Eastern Elegance DSP.  I have to tell you that I just LOVE this colour combination.  To create the two-toned flower I firstly stamped the flower in Coastal Cabana ink and then took my blender pen to wipe away the ink from the centre of the flower.  I then coloured the centre of the flower with my Basic Black marker.  I’m sure there’s a name for this technique, but as I’m technique challenged, I can’t remember the name of it!  Here’s my card:

FMS95

I’d love to see what you create with my sketch, so head over to Freshly Made Sketches and link up a card.  While you’re there, check out the gorgeous designs from the Clean Team.

Thanks for stopping by.
