Dear Doily

Hey Everyone

Doilies. Who would’ve thought I’d be in love with them like I am?  I’m sad that the Dear Doily Bundle will be retiring when the new catalogue comes out in June.

A long time ago, I created vintage-y cards and used only Neutrals Cardstock.  I veered from this style to a more cleaner style, but wanted to re-visit vintage for my projects today – not completely vintage, but a vintage feel with the colours I’ve used, texture I’ve added and my use of doilies.

I created two cards and a pillow gift box with this bundle.

For my first card, I embossed the Crumb Cake card base with my Lacy Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I added a circle of Fresh Fig Cardstock behind my lace doily cut with my Doily Builder Thinlits Dies.  I then took my Fresh Fig, Pear Pizzazz and Powder Pink Markers and directly coloured the flower stamp from Dear Doily Stamp Set.  After huffing on it with my breath, I stamped it on Whisper White Cardstock.  These flowers are so easy to cut out when there are matching dies – no fussy cutting!  I then stamped the small doily in Fresh Fig Ink and punched out with my circle punch.  I added an edgelit of Pear Pizzazz Cardstock and a torn piece of Powder Pink Cardstock.  The sentiment I’ve used on my card is also from the Dear Doily Stamp Set.

I added a lot of layers to this card, so I kept a white background to let all of the elements be the focus.  This time I stamped the small doily in Fresh Fig Ink directly to the card base.  I then added the fresh fig backed doily, the flowers and the two-part sentiment.  The second part of the sentiment is embossed on Crumb Cake Cardstock.

I am loving these little Kraft Gift Boxes.  Super easy to decorate and are perfect when you realise you have no wrapping paper…..that’s me every time…..

I added all the same images and elements to my pillow box that I’d given to my cards.  I then added some Whisper White Flax Ribbon and some Linen Thread to create a bellyband that I tied at the top of the pillow box.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers

Dear Doily Love Continues

Hey Everyone

One stamp and die set that hasn’t left my desk since I received it is the Dear Doily Bundle.  This Dear Doily Stamp Set and  Doily Builder Thinlits Dies are uh-mazing!  At the end of my day-of-play, I whipped up the following card.

This card was created by inking up the large doily stamp in Elegant Eggplant Ink and the small doily in Powder Pink Ink.  Both of these were fussy cut, although once I started layering I realised I didn’t need to fussy cut the large one.  Oh well!  I then took my Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies and created a frame by cutting some Whisper White Cardstock with two square dies at once.  I then took my Powder Pink doily and layered it over the frame.

These super pretty flowers are also from the Dear Doily Stamp Set.  As with my previous cards using this set, I applied my markers directly to the stamp.  The colours I’ve used for flowers are Elegant Eggplant and Old Olive. I then used the die to cut them flowers out on my Bigshot.

The sentiment I’ve used has such a pretty font, that I couldn’t go past it.  It’s also from Dear Doily Stamp Set.  To finish off the card I added some Flirty Flamingo Ribbon from the All My Love Ribbon Combo Pack.
