Freshly Made Sketches #28

Hey Everyone

Can you believe my month of Guest Designing at Freshly Made Sketches has come to an end?  This month has flown and I’m trying to find where it went.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my month of hanging with the DT and want to thank the Lesley and the girls for having me and for being so welcoming.  I also want to thank everyone that has left wonderful and supportive comments for me – it’s such a thrill to receive them!

Now for the fantastic sketch provided for us by Lesley – how cool is this one?

I made my card with Mother’s Day in mind.  I’ve used Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla for my card and dragged out my old faithful Stampin’ Up! flower set – Fifth Avenue Floral.  I can’t wait for the new catalogue as I’m hoping there’ll be some new flowery type stamp sets for me to play with.

Thanks for taking a look and if you have time, head over the to challenge and join in.

Products Used:
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Crumb Cake DSP, Very Vanilla
Ink: Crumb Cake
Stamp Sets: Fifth Avenue Floral, Teeny Tiny Sentiments, French Foliage

I’m back with a second post tonight.  I’ve combined two challenges – the colour challenge from The Paper Players and the sketch challenge from Pals Paper Arts.

How gorgeous are these colours together? – they’re one’s I wouldn’t have used before because I’m still experimenting with colour combo’s and not making every card with basic black!

And this sketch of Margaret’s is fantastic:

Here’s my card – my bling looks black, but I’ve used basic rhinestones.

Thanks for stopping by.

I’ve made a start this week on my Christmas cards and am quite pleased with myself as I’m not leaving it until the week before Christmas for once!  I think this is my 3rd card using Lovely as a Tree, but I’m loving it at the moment.  I even got up the courage to use my spritzer tool which has until now sat unopened in the box, along with the brayer which I promise will get rolling soon.

Thanks for stopping by.

Ink: Soft Suede, Crumb Cake
Stamp Sets: Lovely As A Tree, Creative Elements, Teeny Tiny Sentiments

CASE Study Challenge #61

Hey Everyone

CASE Study Challenges’ muse this month is Niki Estes and this is her card below that we got to CASE.

I love the idea of using fabric on a card, but as I don’t have any worth putting on a card – my card is fabricless. I’ve done a bit of distressing to give it a bit of a frayed look like the fabric is.

Thanks for stopping by.

Products Used:
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Riding Hood Red, Love Letter DSP (retired)
Ink: Crumb Cake, Riding Hood Red
Stamp Sets: Established Elegance, French Foliage
Other Products: Circle Punch, Crumb Cake Seam Binding, Designer Frames Embossing Folder, Word Window, Linen Thread, Distressing Tool, Dauber, Button
See ya

Mojo Monday #209 & The Paper Players Challenge #66

Hey Everyone

I’ve combined two challenges for this card – Mojo Monday and The Paper Players Challenges.  At The Paper Players LeAnne has asked us to make a card inspired by music.  As I was sitting in my room debating where to start on this one, a song from the 80s came on that is still one of my favourites – Ca plane pour moi by Plastic Bertrand.  I am such an 80s chick!  I couldn’t resist the french song, even though I have no idea what he’s actually saying – it’s just really catchy.  This song was my inspiration.  I’ve also added a bit of retired music note Newsprint DSP just to tie in the whole musical theme.

I’ve paired the music challenge with the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday as I really loved the layout.

This is a close up photo of the main panel so you can see how much is goin’ on with this card.

This card was chosen as A Cut Above at The Papers Players this week.

Thanks for stopping by.

Products Used:
Cardstock: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Mocha Morning DSP, Crumb Cake, Newsprint DSP (retired)
Ink: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake
Stamp Sets: Established Elegance, French Foliage, Artistic Etchings, En Francais

Hello, my name is Narelle and I’m addicted to challenges.  That’s my “A.A.-type” confession tonight! I have about 5 challenges I need to like to enter weekly.  Just Add Ink is one my fave’s as I like their combination of sketch challenges, colour challenges and themed challenges.  This week is a colour challenge using the following colour combo:

Colour challenges are good for me as they get me away from my neutral colours and they also give me ideas on what colours can go together – as I normally don’t try new combinations.  This is my card using the colour palette:
