Create with Connie & Mary #226

Hey Everyone

My favourite Stampin’ Up! designer series paper at the moment is Comfort Cafe.  Who would’ve thought I’d actually love colours that aren’t neutrals?  The design team at Create with Connie & Mary have given us the challenge this week of the using the following colours on a project:

It’s only as I’m writing this did I realise I’ve used the wrong colour in my card! I’ve never done that before!  My excuse is that I left my laptop inside charging when I went out to my craft room.  My memory is obviously shonky!  Sorry DT I hope this is ok that my colour is slightly wrong??? Here’s my card:

Thanks for stopping by.

Mojo Monday #266 & The Paper Players #120

Hey Everyone

It’s a holiday here in Melbourne today so I was able to play around in my craft room.  I meant to go in there and clean it up, but so far all I’ve done is make one card – I keep getting interrupted.  The reason it’s a holiday here is because of a horse race – it’s the race that “stops the nation” apparently.  I’m just glad it stopped me from going to work!

My card is made for two challenges – Mojo Monday where they have this fabulous sketch (I’ll be using this one again for sure!) and Ann’s theme challenge over at The Paper Players.  Their “Give Thanks” theme challenge can be interpreted in so many ways.  I’ve gone with a simple Thank You card.  One of the girls at work recently asked me for one and I realised I didn’t have any on hand.

Here’s my card:

Thanks for stopping by.

Merry Monday Challenge #40

Hey Everyone

I was just sitting here wording in my head what I was going to say in this post, when I realised I’d forgotten to let you know my news.  Lesley asked me if I’d like to stay on her Merry Monday Design Team until March!  Of course I said yes, so I’m a Merry Maker for a few more weeks – you’ll be seeing more Christmas cards for a while yet.   I’m happy to say I’ve kept my record of playing along with every challenge from the start of the year.  You should see my stash!

Anyway enough of my babbling – here’s Lesley’s sketch:

I’ve used my newbie Stampin’ Up! stamp set again – Watercolour Winter – love how easy colouring is when you use a two-step stamping set. Instead of two strips (like on Lesley’s sketch) I’ve torn my two strips of DSP to give it a more vintage look.  Here’s my card:

Thanks for stopping by.

Head over to Lesley’s blog and be inspired by the gorgeous cards the Merry Makers have created this week!

Freshly Made Sketches #58

Hey Everyone

This is an extremely exciting post for me tonight – as part of my Guest Designing gig at Freshly Made Sketches, I was asked to design a sketch.  This is my first ever sketch and after I got over my initial fear of “what if I can’t do it?”, I sat down and created the following sketch:

I tend to make cards that have lots of layers and I like a certain “fullness” to them (clean and simple I’m not!) so I tried to design a sketch that was “me”. I still kept in mind that I was designing a sketch for Freshly Made Sketches which is a cleaner style than I sometimes make.  You will notice there are still layers, but I did hold back on what I initially had!

We would love for you to join us this week at Freshly Made Sketches – head over to the challenge and check out the beautiful cards the Design Team have created this week. Thanks for stopping by!

Products Used:
Cardstock: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Comfort Cafe DSP
Ink: Cajun Craze, Early Espresso
Stamp Sets: Everything Eleanor, Occasional Quotes (retired)
Other Products: Little Leaves Die, Circle Scissor (retired), Brads

Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #222 & SU Only Challenge #55

Hey Everyone

I’ve had a productive card making day today, oh and I cleaned the house as well.  I know which one I prefer to be doing!  Don’t you just love it when you actually feel like you’ve accomplished something?

The Design Team at Create with Connie & Mary have a colour challenge this week.  I have to admit these colours threw me as they are not normally colours I would put together. Summer Starfruit is a colour I’ve used a bit lately, but teaming it with Chocolate Chip and Gumball Green had me thinking….

I’ve teamed the colour challenge with the challenge at SU Only Challenges where their challenge is to create a project using texture.  This I was able to do.

Here’s my card:

And a close up of the main panel so you can see the texture I added to each square by embossing them each with a different embossing folder.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #55

Hey Everyone

About 3 weeks ago I entered the One Year Anniversary Challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  The challenge was to create a project using any of the previous sketches from their 1st year of challenges.  You can find my card that I entered here.  I’m extremely pleased and honoured that the Design Team chose my card as a co-winner!  I now get to be a Guest Designer for the month of October with the very crafty Design Team as well my co-winner, the very creative LeAnne – check out her gorgeous work here.

Here’s this weeks sketch:

And here’s my card:

Can you tell that Everything Eleanor is one of my favourites at the moment?  I am trying something new though – colours that I don’t normally use.  I’m really loving the Stampin’ Up! 2012-2013 In-Colours Summer Starfruit and Midnight Muse – who would’ve thought I’d like colours that aren’t neutrals? 🙂

Head over to the challenge and check out the beautiful cards the girls have designed this week – I hope you have time to create a card, we’d love to see you join in!

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #54

Hey Everyone

I’m back with another card that I made for this weeks challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Jennifer has provided this great sketch for us to design our cards this week:

I’ve used one of my new DSPs – Polka Dot Parade – don’t you just love polka dots? The stamp I’ve used is from Serene Silhouettes that I coloured in with my markers. The retired Rich Razzleberry ribbon I’ve used has white polka dots on the reverse side, but I found there was polka dot overload when I left that side exposed.

Here’s my card:

Thanks for stopping by.

Dynamic Duos #22 & Mojo Monday #260

Hey Everyone

I’m back! Did you miss me? I’ve been on an almost 2 week holiday to one of my favourite places in Australia – Surfers Paradise.  For those who don’t know Australia, Surfers Paradise is a wonderful holiday destination that has beautiful weather (most of the time), gorgeous beaches and theme parks.  I jokingly told a friend recently that the only reason I had kids was so I could justify still going on rides at theme parks! That’s not the only reason I had them, I’m sure it was so they could complain to me about the road trip we took to get there – 2 days there and 2 days back! As wonderful as the holiday was, it’s nice to be home and back into my craft room.

Anyway, enough about me and now on to my card.  I made this card for the colour challenge at Dynamic Duos where their challenge this week is to create a project using Cherry Cobbler and one other colour of my choice. I’m also allowed to a neutral colour, so I’ve used Crumb Cake for this. I couldn’t find a Cherry Cobbler DSP that I wanted for my background so I’ve used this yummy Raspberry Ripple DSP, so I guess my colour of choice is Raspberry Ripple.

I’ve also combined the Dynamic Duos colour challenge with this awesome sketch from Mojo Monday.  I’ve gone with the square sketch this week.

Here’s my card:

Before I go, here’s a photo of the beach outside our resort looking back to Surfers Paradise.

And one of our resort pool (I miss it already!)

Thanks for taking a look.

Freshly Made Sketches #51 & Stampin’ Royalty #140

Hey Everyone

I’ve probably never used these gorgeous colours together from this weeks challenge at Stampin’ Royalty – but I’m really loving them and will definitely use them again

I’ve combined challenges again and this time I’ve used Cindy’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches for the layout for my card.  I’ve flipped the sketch on it’s side as it worked better for my images.  I was sooooo hanging to use my dauber and dirty my card up, but then I remembered Freshly Made Sketches are a clean challenge, so I held back 😉

Here’s my card:

Thanks for stopping by.
