Pals Paper Arts #125 – Tag, You’re It!

Hey Everyone

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!  Can’t believe it’s come and gone and I’m thinking about New Year’s Eve already.  I’ve finally had a chance to sit down and create a couple of cards for challenges.  My first card tonight is for the “Tag You’re It” Challenge at Pals Paper Arts.  My initial thought was that I was going to make a Christmas tag, but in the end I went with a vintagey card as it feels I haven’t used Established Elegance in ages.

Here’s what I came up with:

Mojo Monday #212 & The Play Date Cafe Challenge #105

Hey Again Everyone

My next card combines two challenges – Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge and The Play Date Cafe Challenge.

This is the sketch from Mojo Monday this week:

This is the colour palette from The Play Date Cafe Challenge this week:

Here’s my card:

I’ve been wanting to use the typewriter from Established Elegance since I first got this set, but I could never get it looking quite right (I felt it was a little big).  I figured that if I didn’t start using it soon, I’d never use it – in the end I don’t think it looks too bad on this card.

Thanks for stopping by.

The Paper Players Challenge #69

Good Afternoon Everyone

I’m a little late with my post today for The Paper Players Challenge, but better late than never!  I made a card for their challenge, but as I was cleaning up my room I came across this unused photo frame and tested the card out to see what it would look like framed.  I was pretty pleased with the end result and am not sure now whether to give it away to someone special or keep it for myself!

Here’s what I came up with:

Thanks for stopping by.

CASE Study Challenge #61

Hey Everyone

CASE Study Challenges’ muse this month is Niki Estes and this is her card below that we got to CASE.

I love the idea of using fabric on a card, but as I don’t have any worth putting on a card – my card is fabricless. I’ve done a bit of distressing to give it a bit of a frayed look like the fabric is.

Thanks for stopping by.

Ink: Crumb Cake, Riding Hood Red

Just Add Ink #88 – Just Add A Die Cut

Hey Everyone

My card tonight is for the Just Add A Die Cut Challenge at Just Add Ink.  I started this card yesterday but held off finishing it until today for when I thought I would receive my order with some new die cuts – but sadly my order didn’t come so I’ve finished it off with what I had in my craft room 😦

I’ve used my scallop square die in the background and made a shadow box frame for the butterfly made from the beautiful wings embosslits die.  I stamped the frame with the flourish from Established Elegance and raised it up with dimensionals to give it extra height and the impression that it’s a shadow box.

Here’s a close up of the shadow box:

Ink: Basic Black, Elegant Eggplant

Colour Q Challenge #105 & Create with Connie & Mary #170

Hey Everyone

I’m combing two challenges with my next card – the colour combo at Colour Q Challenge and the sketch challenge at Create with Connie & Mary.

What do you do when your order didn’t arrive when you expected it to, and you don’t have your new DSP you thought was coming?  Make your own DSP with a background stamp. The flourish from my new favourite set of the moment – Established Elegance – came in really handy and finished off my card for me.

This card was awarded a Top Pick at Create with Connie & Mary.

Thanks for stopping by.

Ink: Black Stazon, Wisteria Wonder, Pear Pizzazz, Chocolate Chip Re-Inker

Stamping 411 #222 & Our Creative Corner Challenge – World Card Making Day

Hey Everyone

Happy World Card Making Day! The challenge at Our Creative Corner this week is to create a project inspired by a country other than our own.  I’ve chosen France because when I think of anything french two things come to mind – elegance and vintage.  For the layout I used the sketch challenge at Stamping 411 as it felt very elegant too.  Instead of the oval shape, I’ve used a rectangle shape as it gave me a chance to use my Notably Ornate stamp set again.

This is what I came up with:

I made the Stampers Showcase at Stamping 411.

Thanks for stopping by.

Products Used:
Cardstock: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Beau Chateau DSP
Ink: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake
Stamp Sets: Established Elegance, Artistic Etchings, Notably Ornate
Other Products: Early Espresso Satin Ribbon (retired), Antique Brad, Circle Punches

Mojo Monday #209 & The Paper Players Challenge #66

Hey Everyone

I’ve combined two challenges for this card – Mojo Monday and The Paper Players Challenges.  At The Paper Players LeAnne has asked us to make a card inspired by music.  As I was sitting in my room debating where to start on this one, a song from the 80s came on that is still one of my favourites – Ca plane pour moi by Plastic Bertrand.  I am such an 80s chick!  I couldn’t resist the french song, even though I have no idea what he’s actually saying – it’s just really catchy.  This song was my inspiration.  I’ve also added a bit of retired music note Newsprint DSP just to tie in the whole musical theme.

I’ve paired the music challenge with the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday as I really loved the layout.

This is a close up photo of the main panel so you can see how much is goin’ on with this card.

This card was chosen as A Cut Above at The Papers Players this week.

Thanks for stopping by.

Good evening everyone

Hello, my name is Narelle and I’m addicted to challenges.  That’s my “A.A.-type” confession tonight! I have about 5 challenges I need to like to enter weekly.  Just Add Ink is one my fave’s as I like their combination of sketch challenges, colour challenges and themed challenges.  This week is a colour challenge using the following colour combo:

Colour challenges are good for me as they get me away from my neutral colours and they also give me ideas on what colours can go together – as I normally don’t try new combinations.  This is my card using the colour palette:
