Freshly Made Sketches #311

Hey Everyone

Are you ready for a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches?  The design team are and have created gorgeous cards to inspire you.  Our sketch this week has been designed by the talented Jen Brum.  Her cards are beautiful clean cards and her use of colours is always so striking.  Take a look at her fab sketch:

I decided to use the sketch for another Christmas card.  The card I’ve created is a very clean and simple card that I can mass produce, as I’ve done no fussy cutting to slow me down.  The colour scheme I’ve gone with is Berry Burst, Basic Gray and Powder Pink.  I love these colours for the festive season.

Flurry of Wishes is such a pretty set with fabulous snowflakes.  I randomly stamped my snowflakes in Berry Burst and punched a Powder Pink one out with my retired Snowflake punch.  I raised this snowflake up with a dimensional and added pink sequins to the centres of the three snowflakes to add some bling.  The sentiment is also from Flurry of Wishes.

The designer series paper I’ve used in the background is from Bundle of Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.

We would love it if you could join us with this weeks challenge.  Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and link up a card.  While you’re there, take a look at the gorgeous cards from the design team.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #308

Hey Everyone

Holidays are great, but not so great when you come home and unpack your craft stuff and realise your husband has packed his tool box on your recently made card for this weeks sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches……  My card was crushed and I realised I needed a re-do at the last minute last night to photograph and upload to our challenge blog.  I will need to make sure my husband doesn’t pack the car next time we go on holidays!

This weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches has been designed by the super talented and perfect colourist, Rita Wright.  Here’s her wonderful sketch:

Happy Birthday Gorgeous has gorgeous little flowers that I love using.  They have a solid stamp that lines up perfectly to colour the flowers in no time.  The colours I’ve used for the centre of my flowers are Berry Burst, Powder Pink and Blushing Bride.  The leaves that I have used are from Flourish Thinlits Dies and I have used a combination of Olive Old and Berry Burst cardstock.

The birthday sentiment I’ve used is from Big on Birthdays.  The pretty DSP I’ve used in the background is from Bundle of Love Speciality DSP.  I then used a strip of Berry Burst cardstock to tie all of the colours and flowers together.

Here’s my card:

We would love if it you could join us with Rita’s sketch.  Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and take a look at the wonderful inspiration from the Clean Team.

Freshly Made Sketches #306

Hey Everyone

Time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch hostess is the fabulously talented Jen Mitchell.  Jen is not only an amazing cardmaker but she also designs wonderful sketches – I fell in love with this one as soon as I saw it.

Bundle of Love Specialty Designer Series Paper is one of my favs at the moment.  I almost reach for it every time I go to create a card.  I couldn’t go past it this time as I knew that I wanted to use these gorgeous flowers from Graceful Garden again that I had already stamped, watercoloured with Powder Pink and Flirty Flamingo Ink, fussy cut and had just found laying on my desk.  I consider using them on my card as partly cleaning up my mess of a desk. Imagine how much messier it would’ve been if I had left them on my desk…….

The leaves were also found laying on my desk.  These leaves are from a Stampin’ Up! set called Remarkable You and are watercoloured with Old Olive Ink.  I really like the size of these leaves paired with the roses.  They also look like they belong together.  The sentiment I’ve used is from Colorful Seasons and is stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink.

Here’s my card:

We would love it if you could join us for this weeks challenge. Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and take a look at the wonderful inspiration the design team have provided.

TGIF Challenge #124 & The Card Concept #77

Hey Everyone

Look at me! Posting twice in two days – I’m totally on a roll!

The card I made this afternoon is for two challenges – the sketch challenge at TGIF Challenges and the inspiration picture challenge at The Card Concept.

Here are the pics for their challenges:

My style of cardmaking changes all the time but I think this card might fall into the Classy and Elegant style.  This card took me a couple of hours to make…..lucky I had that much time today to get it just right.  The reason for my getting it just right is that I have a special someone in mind for this card and I always take extra time layering, colouring and messing around with placement when I’m putting together a card for someone who I know will cherish it.

I am in love with these roses from Graceful Garden and have watercoloured them and then used my markers to add definition to the deepest part of the petals.  The colours I’ve used are Berry Burst and Powder Pink.  The leaves are coloured with Old Olive and Always Artichoke.

I smooshed the background with Powder Pink and Crumb Cake Ink.  After drying it off with my heat tool,  I then stamped the ink splatters from Swirly Bird in Basic Black Ink.  The pretty DSP I’ve used in the background is from Bundle of Love Specialty Designer Series Paper and my heat embossed sentiment is from Better Together.  There is a lot of woodgrain in the inspiration pic but I have only used a strip of it under my sentiment.  I’ve stamped Hardwood in Tip Top Taupe onto Crumb Cake Cardstock.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #304

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  It’s my turn to be sketch designer and I’ve created a simple sketch for you that you can interpret anyway.  As always, I look forward to see your cards in the gallery.

We are currently renovating our tea room in the Emergency Department I work in and have created a feature wall with cherry blossoms on it.  I was really taken with the prettiness of the feature wall, so I decided to create a cherry blossom card with the flowers from Colorful Season stamp set.  I’ve also used the matching dies from Seasonal Layers Thinlit Dies to cut my leaves and branch.  The flowers are stamped in Berry Burst and I’ve used my Berry Burst marker to add crease lines to my flowers.

The strip of designer series paper I’ve used is from Bundle of Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.  To break up the sentiment from the background I added strips of Basic Black Cardstock that I cut with my Ticket Tear Border Punch.  The sentiment I’ve used is from Big on Birthdays.  I then added some black sequins to finish off my card.

You’re going to want to see the gorgeous cards the design team at Freshly Made Sketches have created.  Pop over to the challenge and get ready to be inspired.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #301

Hey Everyone

Love, love, love the newest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  This sketch has been designed by the super talented Jen Brum.  Sketch challenges are my favourite and where I get most of my inspiration when I’m stuck for a design.

My love for Stampin’ Up!s Graceful Garden continues.  This time I watercoloured my roses with Cherry Cobbler Ink and my leaves are coloured with Old Olive Ink.  The pretty designer series paper I’ve used is from Bundle of Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The papers from this pack are all stunning and, even though I want to use them on every card, I’ve held myself back so you won’t be Bundle of Love’d out!

The sentiment I’ve used is from Beautiful Bouquet.  I made this card for a wedding, but with the simple congratulations, it could be given for an anniversary or to someone who is starting a new job.  Whenever I sell my cards I’m always interested to hear the story of who they’re buying them for.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #300

Hey Everyone

We are celebrating 300 sketches at Freshly Made Sketches this week!  How amazing is that? To celebrate this huge milestone, one person will be randomly chosen from the gallery to receive all of our cards!

I remember I played along with the very first sketch way back and I definitely my first card (not a fan of that one I can tell you…..).  It’s funny (and almost slightly cringeworthy) looking back at my style and the cards I used to make.

Our sketch designer is Jen – she’s created this great sketch for us:

I ADORE this sketch and as soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to make a Christmas card in blue and white. You will see that I’ve added a strip of Silver Glitter Ribbon under my sentiment to break up the blue and white and to also add a bit of sparkle.  I also LOVE this sentiment from Holly Berry Happiness as it’s the perfect sentiment for when I create cards for the many creative friends I have made overseas.  I stamped the sentiment in Basic Black Ink and then punched it out with my Pretty Label Punch.

The designer series paper I’ve used is from Bundle of Love Specialty Designer Series Paper and the snowflakes I’ve cut are from Seasonal Layers Thinlit Dies.  These dies are so versatile as there are dies for all seasons in them.

The girls are Freshly Made Sketches are such a wonderful group of girls that I feel privileged to be a part of.  As always, they inspire me and encourage me to create the best cards I can.  Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and take a look at the wonderful cards they have created.

We would love it if you could play along with our 300th sketch!

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers
