Freshly Made Sketches #215

Hey Everyone

Wow! It’s Wednesday already! Time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch has been designed by Jen Mitchell.  Jen’s cards are gorgeously created and I’m always envious of her ability to combine colours and make them look effortless!

Mojo Monday #422, Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #380 & Stampin’ Royalty #302

Hey Everyone

Gee cleaning up your craft desk does wonders for your mojo!  I couldn’t wait to get in my craft room today and I even left it the same way as I found it – all nice and clean and ready for me next weekend!  I banged out my cards for my design team commitments for the week and then managed to create a card just for fun.  The challenges I’m entering my card in to are: Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge, Create with Connie & Mary Colour Challenge and Stampin’ Royalty’s Challenge where their theme is Stars.

As you know, I LOVE stars so this one was an easy one for me to put together.  Here’s what I came up with:

Freshly Made Sketches #210

Hey Everyone

Time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. This week Cindy Lovell is our hostess. Cindy creates the most gorgeous cards. I would love to see her craft room along with my stamping friend from NZ, Karren Johnson, as I don’t think I see them use the same set twice!

FMS210sketch

I am in love with stars at the moment and I love using this star stamp from a Stampin’ Up! Christmas set called Bright and Beautiful.  I think it works well for non-Christmas cards too. I dragged out my crimper to give the black star some texture and then I added some star sequins.  The sentiment is from Celebrate Today.  Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink #284

Hey Everyone

Challenges are good for me because they make me step out of my comfort zone.  This weeks Just Add Ink Challenge has made me step waaaaay out of my comfort zone. Our challenge for you is to:

Just Add a Fancy Fold

I’ve never really made that many fancy fold cards mainly because I’m too lazy to even look for a design and I find them too fiddly to bother attempting. When I saw this Fancy Fold Challenge was on my week at JAI, I truly grimaced. Once I got myself gee’d up to get started, I found this folded card tutorial by Kristina Werner and found that it actually came together pretty easy. Maybe I shouldn’t shy away from trying new things!

This is the first photo I took of my card.  I didn’t realise how stiff this cardstock was and that it wouldn’t fold flat – no matter how many times I re-enforced the folds with my bone folder. So I left it under a heavy book for a day and then had another go at taking the photo.
JAI284-1

Then I was able to get a better photo.

JAI284

Once the front flaps are open I realised I hadn’t left a lot of room to write a greeting.

JAI284-2

So instead of sticking the two pieces of cardstock fully together as Kristina did in her tutorial, I adhered the left side only.  This created an extra flap for me to be able to put in a piece of white cardstock for a sentiment.

Our team have created wonderful cards to inspire you – so head over to Just Add Ink and check them out.

Freshly Made Sketches #199

Hey Everyone

Happy Wednesday!  We have a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and this week my oh-so-creative stamping friend from NZ, Karren Johnson, is our sketch hostess.

FMS199sketch

I had no choice but to make a shaker this week as my mum came on Sunday and wanted me to show her how to make one.  And as I always do what my mum tells me (well, most of the time) I set about using this weeks sketch to show her how they’re made.  You will see I have strayed slightly from the sketch to please my mum (and to hold my sequins in). I’m hoping Karren will be ok with this.

We would love you play along with us this week – so head over to Freshly Made Sketches and take a look at the wonderful inspiration from the Clean Team.

Freshly Made Sketches #196

Hey Everyone

Our sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week has been designed by the very talented Cindy Hall.  Cindy creates gorgeous cards – you’re going to want to head over to her blog and check them out.

FMS196sketch

As you can see I have strayed a tad from the sketch – I hope Cindy doesn’t mind too much!  The reason for my straying is because my son was sick over the weekend which is my usual crafting time. I ending up taking him into hospital on Saturday where he received fluids and we were stuck there for 5 hours (I imagine we would’ve stayed longer if I didn’t work there and get a bit of special treatment).  I then got sick on Sunday and when I sat down to create a card – nothing came to me! I did originally start off with a rectangle panel, like the sketch, but my fuzzy head just couldn’t figure out what to put on it. So in the end I used my star framelit to cut out a star in the white cardstock, shoved a heap of sequins under some window sheet, added some shaker tape and created a shaker card.  No fussy cutting from me for once! Here’s my card:

Mojo Monday #401, Pals Paper Arts #255 & SUO Challenge #124

Hey Everyone

Another weekend has flown by again.  I didn’t get to spend much time in my craft room, but enough to create a card for three challenges – Mojo Monday, Pals Paper Arts and SUO Stars & Stripes Challenge.  Here are their inspiration pics:

As I’ve been on a star card roll lately I really wasn’t going to create another one, but as the challenge at SUO was Stars & Stripes I just had to!  I love stars for a masculine card. Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #190

Hey Everyone

It’s already Wednesday again – I can’t believe how quickly the weeks are flying by.  Our sketch hostess at Freshly Made Sketches is the wonderfully talented Amy O’Neill. If you aren’t a frequent visitor of Amy’s blog then you need to be, as she creates the most amazing cards and combines colours like no other.

FMS190

So I might have strayed a little from the sketch but if you squint your eyes a bit you can almost make out a kind of oval out of the stars 😉

Our team has created wonderful inspiration for you so head over to the blog and take a look at their cards. We would love you to play along.

ColourQ #275 & Pals Paper Arts #236

Hey Everyone

I had a fabulous day on the weekend helping my mum with her market.  If it wasn’t for her and her stall, all of my cards would sit in my craft room probably getting ruined as I just dump them in a box after I take a photo of them.  I had a couple of requests for kids cards and realised I had none to sell.  I looked around for a challenge to rectify my lack of kids card and found I could combine my card for the sketch challenge at Pals Paper Arts and the colour challenge at colourQ.
