Just Add Ink #390

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week is sketch week and I’ve designed the following sketch for you.

The card I’ve created is another floral creation.  The Stampin’ Up! stamp set I’ve used is called Painted Harvest.  The flowers are a two-step stamping set.  The colours I’ve used for my flowers are Sweet Sugarplum and Blushing Bride.  I stamped two of these flowers and fussy cut them out.  The centre of my flowers are stamped with Smoky Slate.  The leaves are punched with my Stampin’ Up! Leaf Punch.

To create the background on my card I used the Smooshing Technique with Crumb Cake and Blushing Bride Inks.  I then used the water droplets stamp from Swirly Bird in Basic Black Ink.  The sentiment I’ve used on my card is from Blooms and Wishes. I then added some Linen Thread to loop under my flowers and leaves.

We would love it if you could join us with this sketch challenge.  Head over to Just Add Ink and take a look at the gorgeous cards the team have created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers

CAS(E) this Sketch #243 & Color Throwdown Countdown #464

Hey Everyone

I hope you’ve all having a wonderful weekend.  I am because I was able to spend some time in my craft room.  It’s always a bonus when I spend some time to play!

The card I’m sharing today is for two challenges – the sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch and the colour challenge at Color Throwdown Countdown.

Here are the challenge pics:

You probably know by now that Graceful Garden is a favourite set of mine. I find it relaxing to watercolour and fussy cut these gorgeous roses.  The colours I’ve used to watercolour them is Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum.  The sentiment I’ve used is from Blooms & Wishes and I’ve stamped this in Basic Black Archival Ink. My leaves are coloured with Old Olive.

Freshly Made Sketches #293

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch designer this week is my super talented NZ friend Karren Johnson.  Karren’s so creative with her card making and is an amazing colourist!

Have a look at her fab sketch:
I really love her sketch!  I don’t have any large dies that gave me that great curve, so I hand cut my cardstock as close to the sketch as I could.  The flowers, I watercoloured with my watercolour pencils, are from Birthday Blooms.  These flowers have quite a lot of smaller flowers and leaves around them, but for something different, I cut them all off.  I then coloured the largest of the leaves and tucked them back under the flowers.

The black leaves are cut with Flourish Thinlit Dies and the sentiment I’ve used is from Stampin’ Up! Blooms and Wishes.  Initially I had an all white background but felt it looked a bit plain, so I picked up a discarded piece of designer series papers I had on my desk and added it to my card. This great chevron paper is from a retired pack called Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I really liked the contrast of the black chevron, Rich Razzleberry flowers and white cardstock.

We would love it if you could join us with this sketch challenge.  Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and link up a card.  While you’re there, take a look at the fabulous inspiration from the design team.

Just Add Ink #362

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink for you:

When I saw these colours, I wasn’t sure what kind of card I was going to make.  In the end I decided to keep a lot of white space and use the colours for my flowers and leaves.  I was really pleased how the card came together by keeping it simple.

I’ve used my favourite flowers from Penned & Painted on my card – so sad it’s retired (sniff).  I love them stamped in Peekaboo Peach and paired with Bermuda Bay leaves.  The centre of flower is coloured in black but I didn’t love that look so I added some white dots with my white gel pen.  I really like this effect and I think it makes the centre of the flowers pop.  To add Pool Party to my card, I stamped the leaves from Jar of Love directly to my card base.  I also used a strip of Pool Party cardstock and Pool Party Bakers Twine.  The sentiment I’ve used is from Blooms and Wishes.  The little sequin is actually Bermuda Bay but for some reason it’s photographed black….

Here’s my card:
