Freshly Made Sketches #293

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch designer this week is my super talented NZ friend Karren Johnson.  Karren’s so creative with her card making and is an amazing colourist!

Have a look at her fab sketch:
I really love her sketch!  I don’t have any large dies that gave me that great curve, so I hand cut my cardstock as close to the sketch as I could.  The flowers, I watercoloured with my watercolour pencils, are from Birthday Blooms.  These flowers have quite a lot of smaller flowers and leaves around them, but for something different, I cut them all off.  I then coloured the largest of the leaves and tucked them back under the flowers.

The black leaves are cut with Flourish Thinlit Dies and the sentiment I’ve used is from Stampin’ Up! Blooms and Wishes.  Initially I had an all white background but felt it looked a bit plain, so I picked up a discarded piece of designer series papers I had on my desk and added it to my card. This great chevron paper is from a retired pack called Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I really liked the contrast of the black chevron, Rich Razzleberry flowers and white cardstock.

We would love it if you could join us with this sketch challenge.  Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and link up a card.  While you’re there, take a look at the fabulous inspiration from the design team.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #287

Hey Everyone

It’s new sketch time at Freshly Made Sketches! Our newest sketch has been designed by the super talented Jennifer Timko.  Jennifer has created this cool sketch. Can’t wait to see what you all do with it!

I revisited Birthday Blooms for my card today.  I just adore this flower.  I embossed it with White Embossing powder and watercoloured it with Blushing Bride, Sweet Sugarplum and Lemon Lime Twist.  Do you love Lemon Lime Twist as much as I do? It’s going to be my new favourite colour.  I added a strip & bow of Bakers Twine and a strip of Burlap Ribbon.

The design team at Freshly Made Sketches has created gorgeous cards to inspire you. Head over to the challenge at take a look.

Pals Paper Arts #319 & Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #425

Hey Everyone

I’m back with the second card I created today.  I’ve combined my card for two challenges – the colour challenge at Pals Paper Arts and the sketch challenge at Create with Connie & Mary Challenge.

This is such a pretty colour combination and one I haven’t used before.  I’ve lightly watercoloured the flower from Stampin’ Up!s Birthday Blooms after I embossed it with white embossing powder.  I’ve used the watercolour and droplet type stamps from Timeless Textures in the background.  Here’s what I came up with:

Just Add Ink #325

Hey Everyone

Sketches challenges are my favourite!  Tina has designed this fab one for us at Just Add Ink.

JAI325sketch

I really love this colour combination together – Tip Top Taupe, Basic Black and Hello Honey.  I don’t own a ric rac die so I’ve settled for stripey DSP – I like the striking effect of it behind the white panels.  The flower I’ve water coloured with Hello Honey ink is from Stampin’ Up!s Birthday Blooms. My leaves are coloured with Pear Pizzazz and Always Artichoke ink.  Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #242

Hey Everyone

I can’t believe it’s Wednesday again.  I don’t mind the weekdays going fast, but I wished the weekends dragged out to last a bit longer!  Because it’s Wednesday that means we have a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and this week it’s my turn to host.  As usual I put pressure on myself when it’s my turn to design the sketch and even more pressure when putting together my card.

FMS242sketch

If in doubt of where to start with colours, I always fall back on a safe combo – Black, White & Yellow. This time I’ve added a bit of grey to the mix.  Stampin’ Up!s Birthday Blooms would have to be my favourite stamp set at the moment as I’m still in my love of watercolouring phase.  I’ve heat embossed this sentiment from Four You as I really love the white sentiment on black cardstock look.   Here’s my card:

Stampin’ Up!s Birthday Blooms is my favourite flower stamp at the moment.  Perfect for colouring and is a super stunning feature on any card. Here’s what I created:

Mojo Monday #440

Hey Everyone

I love this sketch from Mojo Monday – it’s one that I will keep somewhere in my memory to use again.  Being on holidays without a huge amount of craft supplies, really makes it difficult when you decide to enter a challenge and find you didn’t have as much matching stuff packed as you thought. Next year I think I’ll make a list rather than shove everything in boxes at the last minute.

My mum is on holidays with me and I decided to give her a bit of a watercolouring class (not that I’m overly good at it myself). I find colouring of any sort relaxing and there’s nothing more relaxing than being on a holiday and crafting at the same time!   Here’s my card:
