Just Add Ink #386

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink for you.  This week our challenge is for you to:

This is an easy one challenge to add anything starting with an “R’ on your project – the possibilities are endless!  As I spent the whole weekend with fabulous friends at the 2017 Stampin’ Up! Onstage Event in Melbourne, I didn’t have a huge amount of time to be super creative.

I decided so go simple with roses and ribbon on my card.  The roses I’ve stamped are from Graceful Garden.  My roses are coloured with So Saffron and Crushed Curry Inks.  The leaves are cut with dies from Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies.  I’ve used Old Olive cardstock for them.  The strip of designer series paper I’ve used is from Petal Garden Designer Series Paper Stack.  I then added a strip of Basis Black cardstock for another layer – just because you can’t have too many layers! To add some ribbon, I added a thin strip of Vintage Crochet Trim and the sentiment is from Big on Birthdays.

Here’s my card:

The girls from Just Add Ink were a little more creative than me with their projects, so head over to the challenge and take a look.  We’d love to see your project starting with “R”.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers

CAS(E) this Sketch #245

Hey Everyone

Look at me making another card and posting it during the week!  I am surprising myself like you wouldn’t believe!

The card I made today is a quick and easy CAS card for this weeks sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch. Their sketch is super cool and as soon as I saw it, I thought “man card”.

The Stampin’ Up! set I’ve used is called High Tide.   The lighthouse is stamped in a combination of Bermuda Bay and Pool Party Inks.  The sun is stamped with So Saffron and the birds are stamped with Basic Black Archival Ink.  The water is stamped with Pool Party Ink.

The sentiment is one I haven’t used a lot as I sometimes find that I can’t fit it on my card.  This sentiment worked perfectly on this card as it didn’t cover up too much of my images.  As you will see I usually let my images be the focal point on my cards, rather than sentiments.  I then added some retired Soft Suede (I think it’s Soft Suede…..) Bakers Twine and stapled it to my card for a nautical kind of effect.

Here’s the card I created:

Freshly Made Sketches #308

Hey Everyone

Holidays are great, but not so great when you come home and unpack your craft stuff and realise your husband has packed his tool box on your recently made card for this weeks sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches……  My card was crushed and I realised I needed a re-do at the last minute last night to photograph and upload to our challenge blog.  I will need to make sure my husband doesn’t pack the car next time we go on holidays!

This weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches has been designed by the super talented and perfect colourist, Rita Wright.  Here’s her wonderful sketch:

Happy Birthday Gorgeous has gorgeous little flowers that I love using.  They have a solid stamp that lines up perfectly to colour the flowers in no time.  The colours I’ve used for the centre of my flowers are Berry Burst, Powder Pink and Blushing Bride.  The leaves that I have used are from Flourish Thinlits Dies and I have used a combination of Olive Old and Berry Burst cardstock.

The birthday sentiment I’ve used is from Big on Birthdays.  The pretty DSP I’ve used in the background is from Bundle of Love Speciality DSP.  I then used a strip of Berry Burst cardstock to tie all of the colours and flowers together.

Here’s my card:

We would love if it you could join us with Rita’s sketch.  Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and take a look at the wonderful inspiration from the Clean Team.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #304

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  It’s my turn to be sketch designer and I’ve created a simple sketch for you that you can interpret anyway.  As always, I look forward to see your cards in the gallery.

We are currently renovating our tea room in the Emergency Department I work in and have created a feature wall with cherry blossoms on it.  I was really taken with the prettiness of the feature wall, so I decided to create a cherry blossom card with the flowers from Colorful Season stamp set.  I’ve also used the matching dies from Seasonal Layers Thinlit Dies to cut my leaves and branch.  The flowers are stamped in Berry Burst and I’ve used my Berry Burst marker to add crease lines to my flowers.

The strip of designer series paper I’ve used is from Bundle of Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.  To break up the sentiment from the background I added strips of Basic Black Cardstock that I cut with my Ticket Tear Border Punch.  The sentiment I’ve used is from Big on Birthdays.  I then added some black sequins to finish off my card.

You’re going to want to see the gorgeous cards the design team at Freshly Made Sketches have created.  Pop over to the challenge and get ready to be inspired.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #299

Hey Everyone

The very talented Kim Singdahlsen is our sketch hostess at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  She has created this fantastic sketch for us:

I often make collections of cards, especially for my classes.  For this card I’ve used the same colours and stamp set as a card I posted on Sunday as I may end up using them for a class.  Click here to see my previous card.

This pretty rose stamp is from Stampin’ Up!s Graceful Garden.  I watercoloured my rose with Calypso Coral Ink and outlined the petals with my Calypso Coral Marker.  The background stamp is also stamped with Calypso Coral Ink.  The strips of designer series paper are from Petal Garden Designer Series Paper Stack.

The sentiment is from Big on Birthdays, and as you can tell, it’s my favourite sentiment stamp set at the moment.

Here’s my card:

The cards the design team have created are just gorgeous and will inspire you. Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and take a look.

Thanks for stopping by.

The Paper Players #354

Hey Everyone

Do you ever get stuck on where to start with a card?  Whenever I do, I head to my favourite sketch or colour challenges and join in.  The card I made today was for the sketch challenge at The Paper Players.

Here’s Jaydee’s great sketch:

I received lots of new Stampin’ Up! goodies a couple of weeks ago and love that when I’m sitting in my craft room, I have heaps of new products to choose from.  It’s hard to know where to start!

The flowers I’ve used on my card are stamped with Oh So Eclectic stamp set and then I’ve used the coordinating dies – Eclectic Layers Thinlits Dies.  I didn’t realise until I opened the set that there are so many useful dies in there!  The sentiment I’ve used is from Big on Birthdays – it’s kind of my go-to sentiment at the moment.

The strip of designer series paper in the background is Petal Garden Designer Series Paper Stack.  There are so many pretty designs in this pack.

Here’s my card:

Colour INKspiration Challenge #12

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Colour INKspiration Challenges.  This weeks colour challenge is to use at least four of the colours from the inspiration picture below:

I think I needed this scarf today as the cold wind went right through me as I was walking out of work today

Colour INKspiration Challenge is a Facebook Challenge.  We love seeing what you create with the colour combos we give you each fortnight.  When you’ve finished the hop we would love it if you could play along.  Head over to our Facebook page and link up a card.

I wanted to test myself and see how many of the colours from the inspiration pic I could fit on my card. As you probably know, I am a little frightened when I have to create a card with more than about 2 or 3 colours.  To add as many of the colours, I kept my background white and went to town on them.  I’m pleased to say that I fit all of them on my card.  It helped because of the triangle stamp from Stampin’ Up!s Happy Celebrations – I was able to create a graphic background.  I then stamped feathers from Feather Together to complete the card.  The sentiment I’ve used is from Big on Birthdays.  It was the perfect sized sentiment as it didn’t cover the background stamping too much.

Here’s my card:

The next hop along the way is my talented stamping friend Nikki Spencer!  I totally love her cards as much as I love her friendship.  Click below to hop to her blog and she her gorgeous creation.

Thanks for stopping by.
