Freshly Made Sketches #345

Hey Everyone

Happy Wednesday everyone! Welcome to our newest sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch hostess is the wonderfully talented Jen Mitchell.

I am loving this sketch! Especially that tilted panel!

I chose the butterfly from Watercolor Wings to use on my main panel.  The butterfly is stamped in So Saffron, Crushed Curry, Basic Black and Crumb Cake Inks.  I then took my Black Journalling Pen and added some definition lines around the centre of the butterfly.  I had some leaves cut with my Seasonal Layers Dies Thinlits Dies sitting discarded on my desk, so I added them for extra layers.

I added some Gold Sequin Trim and some Black Cord under my sentiment.  For the background I stamped the watercolour type stamp in Soft Sea Foam. This stamp is from Love What You Do and it saves me time from having to watercolour the background myself – and I have to say it has a much better look than when I try it myself.

I then added the ink splatters from Timeless Textures in Basic Black Ink.  My “Happy Birthday” sentiment is Beautiful Bouquet and “to you” is from a set that I have just forgotten and couldn’t find in the limited time I had to write this post….

Come and join us for this challenge! The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome inspiration for you. Head over to the challenge and take a look.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers

Freshly Made Sketches #344

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week our fabulous sketch has been designed by Cecile Ribon.  Cecile would have to be the Queen of die usage and all things elegant.

Take a look at her sketch:

So first things first…..I kind of flipped the sentiment box and the layering one beneath it by accident.  They were already stuck, photographed and added to my post before I realised I had them reversed….. Sorry Cecile!  I’ll try and get it right next time!

Beautiful Bouquet and matching Bouquet Bunch Framelits Dies are the first thing I thought of when I saw Cecile’s sketch. The matching stamp and die set really fill up the card and add an elegance to the wedding card I created.

The combination of colours I used for my flowers are – Sahara Sand, Crushed Curry & Pool Party.  I then stamped the centre of the flowers in Basic Black Ink as I really wanted them to stand out. The sentiment is also from Beautiful Bouquet and stamped it in Basic Black Ink to match the centre of the flowers.

Because I haven’t purchased myself a huge amount of new designer series papers yet, I decided to add thin strips of Whisper White Cardstock to my Pool Party triangles to add a little interest to the background.  I actually don’t mind this look for a change and will have to remember to do it in the future as I think it jazzes up plain cardstock.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome inspiration for you.  Pop over to the challenge and take a look at their cards.  We would love it if you could play along with us!

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #110, Addicted to CAS #123 & The Card Concept #80

Hey Everyone

I was able to play along with not one, not two, but three challenges with my card today.  I’m entering my card into the following fab challenges – Global Design Project, Addicted to CAS and The Card Concept.  Take a look at their inspiration pics:

As you probably know, sketch challenges are my favourites.  Half of the card is already done by following a sketch!  The sketch at Global Design Project is pretty awesome and made putting together my card so easy.  Are you like me and save sketches? When I get the chance, I print them and keep them in a file for when I need inspiration.

The code word at Addicted to CAS is “Leaves” and the gorgeous inspiration pic at The Card Concept has a beautiful cake layered with leaves.  I think the style of this card qualifies at The Card Concept as Classy & Elegant?  I combined these challenges and made a neutral wedding card.

The designer series paper I’ve used in the background is from a Stampin’ Up retired pack called Urban Underground Speciality Designer Series Paper.  This tiny spotted paper was my favourite from this pack.

The leaves are cut with Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies.  To create my coloured leaves, I watercoloured some Thick Whisper White cardstock with Tip Top Taupe (sadly retired), Cherry Cobbler and Crushed Curry Inks.

The sentiment I’ve used is from Beautiful Bouquet.  I stamped this sentiment in the flourish stamp from Label Me Pretty and punched it out with my Pretty Label Punch.  I then added a strip of Burlap Ribbon and Copper Ribbon.  Because I’m a lover of anything bling, especially on a nuptials card, I added a copper sequin.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #301

Hey Everyone

Love, love, love the newest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  This sketch has been designed by the super talented Jen Brum.  Sketch challenges are my favourite and where I get most of my inspiration when I’m stuck for a design.

My love for Stampin’ Up!s Graceful Garden continues.  This time I watercoloured my roses with Cherry Cobbler Ink and my leaves are coloured with Old Olive Ink.  The pretty designer series paper I’ve used is from Bundle of Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The papers from this pack are all stunning and, even though I want to use them on every card, I’ve held myself back so you won’t be Bundle of Love’d out!

The sentiment I’ve used is from Beautiful Bouquet.  I made this card for a wedding, but with the simple congratulations, it could be given for an anniversary or to someone who is starting a new job.  Whenever I sell my cards I’m always interested to hear the story of who they’re buying them for.

Here’s my card:
