The Challenge #28

Hey Everyone

This is a special post as The Challenge is turning one!  Happy Anniversary Lesley! As this is their 1st Anniversary Lesley’s friend Wendy Ramlakhan, the owner of SugarPea Designs, has generously offered a SPD Gift Certificate for one lucky participant. It will be one random winner…the more times you play, the better your odds.

The theme for this weeks challenge is Anything Goes.  You will need to create a new project for this challenge and make sure you don’t enter your project in more than 5 challenges (including this challenge).

Anything Goes Challenge-March 30th SPD-Blog-Badge---Large

I seem to be on a roll with masculine cards. The more I make them, the more I feel comfortable creating them!  I really am loving creating grungy backgrounds and am looking forward to tomorrow as I am having a crafting day with my mum tomorrow to show her how I create them. It’s not often we can get together as we live an hour away, but we are currently on a holiday together and I’ve managed to bring along about a third of my craft room.

Just Add Ink #252

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday so that means we have a new challenge for you Just Add Ink.  This week Kim has created this fabulous sketch for us.  I really enjoy sketch challenges and I have to say I don’t even mind a tilted panel!

JAI252sketch

When I saw this sketch a man card came instantly to mind – not sure why, but it did.  I really am trying to challenge myself to make masculine cards as I don’t tend to make a lot of them.  Feminine ones are so much easier. I like a lot of details on my cards and I find I can add lots of details with a nautical themed card – here’s what I came up with:

ColourQ #275 & Pals Paper Arts #236

Hey Everyone

I had a fabulous day on the weekend helping my mum with her market.  If it wasn’t for her and her stall, all of my cards would sit in my craft room probably getting ruined as I just dump them in a box after I take a photo of them.  I had a couple of requests for kids cards and realised I had none to sell.  I looked around for a challenge to rectify my lack of kids card and found I could combine my card for the sketch challenge at Pals Paper Arts and the colour challenge at colourQ.

Pals Paper Arts #222 & Retro Sketches #135

Hey Everyone

I’m back with another card I made today.  This time I’ve combined my card for the following challenges – Pals Paper Arts and Retro Sketches where you can use any past sketch.  Here’s PPA’s colour combo and the fab sketch I chose from Retro Sketches.

RS135

I’ve had Stampin’ Up!s Choose Happiness sitting unopened on my bookcase for a little while now and decided it was time to ink it up.  I’ve used my Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight blendabilities to give the flower some colour and the leaves are coloured with my Old Olive blendabilities.  I know Old Olive isn’t part of the challenge colours, but I’m hoping the DT at Pals Paper Arts won’t mind.  I finger walked Dictionary through Early Espresso ink and then stamped it off once on photocopy paper to dull the colour.  I then finger walked it on my cardstock so you can see bits of the print in the background.  The sentiment is from Petite Pairs and I’ve used Banner Blast for the banners. Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #137

Hey Everyone

Hopefully this post works as I’ve scheduled it while I’m off galavanting at Stampin’ Up!s Annual Convention.  Even though it’s being held in Melbourne, and would only take me 1/2 hr to drive into the Convention Centre, I’m staying in an apartment with the girls from Just Add Ink so I can have 5 full days and nights of cardmaking talk – I’m gonna be sleep deprived when I get home 🙂

The card I’ve made is for this weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches – our hostess being the fabulous Jen Mitchell.

I’ve gone with a quick and simple card today (mainly coz I ran out of time on the weekend with swaps to organise, roomies gifts to make & a card class all day Sunday).  The stamp sets I’ve used are Banner Blast and Itty Bitty Banners and I’ve matched my banners to the colours in this great DSP from Fresh Prints Designer Series Stack.

Just Add Ink #206

Hey Everyone

This week at Just Add Ink the very talented Paula has given us the challenge to

Just Add Sale-A-Bration.

For those who don’t know what Sale-A-Bration (SAB) is, for every $90 you spend on Stampin’ Up! products in Australia you get one item from the SAB Catalogue free – gotta love free stuff!  Click here to view the Australian SAB Catalogue on line.

The SAB products I’ve used on card are Sweet Sorbet DSP and the tiny star and heart are from Banner Blast.  The butterfly I’ve used isn’t from the SAB Catalogue – it’s from the Annual Stampin’ Up! Catalogue called Papillion Potpourri.  The butterfly was laying around on my desk discarded from another project so instead of ruining it or accidentally throwing it away, I put it to good use on my card.  I also added a strip of washi tape that I stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe from my set called Tape It (also from the Annual Catalogue).  I added 3 bits of bling as I’m going to give this card to my niece for her birthday and every little girl loves bling!

Here’s what I created:

Freshly Made Sketches #126 & SUO #91

Hey Everyone

I had a ball looking the 147 gorgeous entries that played along with my sketch at Freshly Made Sketches last week!  This week the fabulously talent Amy O’Neill is our hostess and she has created this totally cool sketch:

FMS126sketch

I’m loving the colour combination Sahara Sand and Crisp Cantaloupe- it’s a really soft and pretty combination.  Amy’s sketch gave me the opportunity to break open my new Sale-A-Bration banner stamp set called Banner Blast (I’m possibly the last Stampin’ Up! demonstrator in Melbourne to ink it up for the first time).  As I’m using banners I’m also entering my card into SUO’s Banner Fun Challenge.
