Pals Paper Arts #178 & Mojo Monday #318

Hey Everyone

I’ve finally had a chance to enter a challenge! I’ve had a bit of a busy couple of weeks and haven’t had much of a chance to play…..until this afternoon.  The card I’m sharing today is for two challenges actually – the colour challenge at Pals Paper Arts and the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday.  Here are their inspiration pics:

Not a colour combo I’ve tried before.  In the past colour challenges like these used to frighten me off, but now I look forward to giving them a try.  I used to call myself a “neutrals girl only” and even though I do love my neutrals, I think I can confidently add colour to them now! Here’s my card:

Inspired by Stamping Inspiration Challenge #32

Hey Everyone

I’ve been playing along with the challenges at Inspired by Stamping Inspiration Challenges lately and I’m thrilled to say this card was chosen as a winner!  I was asked by Joanna if I would like to Guest Design this week – of course my answer was “yes!”.  The challenge this week is to create a project using the following colours – Blue, Silver, Gold. Here’s what I came up with:

I’ve used some retired Stampin’ Up! DSP called Beau Chateau for my card and matted the DSP with brushed gold cardstock. For the silver on my card I’ve used a silver antique brad and some retired hodgepodge.

Head over to the challenge and check out the gorgeous cards the Design Team have created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #57

Hey Everyone

LeAnne is this weeks hostess at Freshly Made Sketches. In addition to our Guest Design gig for the month of October, LeAnne and I both got to design a sketch – my very first sketch ever is next week!  LeAnne designed this fabulous and very versatile sketch.

I’m getting low on man cards, so I thought I change it up from my usual florally feminine cards, and make a card for my stash.

Head over to the challenge and check out the beautiful cards the design team have created this week and if you have time, we’d love for you to join in.

Thanks for stopping by.

Merry Monday Challenge #37

Hey Everyone

It’s Monday, so that means there’s a new sketch for Lesley’s Merry Monday Challenge!  With only a few weeks left until Christmas this is a great opportunity to get your Christmas cards underway.

Here’s Lesley’s fabulous sketch this week:

I wanted a two-tone bauble but couldn’t find my Always Artichoke marker. So I stamped the image in Always Artichoke Ink and then used my blender pen to wipe away the colour from the centre of the bauble.  I then coloured the centre with my River Rocker marker.  I may not’ve completely wiped away all of the Always Artichoke so the remaining colour has mixed with the River Rock and left a marbling sort of effect.  I kind of liked it, so I kept it and used it on my card.  Here’s what I came up with:

We have two new Merry Makers joining the team this week – Susan Joyce and Allisa Chilton.  I’m a big fan of theirs and am thrilled that I will be designing alongside them.  Head over to the challenge and check out the gorgeous cards the Merry Makers have created this week.

Thanks for stopping by.

The Paper Players Challenge #112 & Mojo Monday #258

Hey Everyone

I’ve been waiting, rather impatiently, for my first Stampin’ Up! order from the Australian 2012-2013 Annual Catalogue and guess what? – it arrived today, finally.  So instead of doing what I had planned today, I whipped out to my room and made my card with my new toys.  I have so many to choose from, but I chose to use two new stamp sets I’ve been hanging to get my hands on  – Everything Eleanor and Summer Silhouettes.

The colours for my card are from this weeks The Paper Players Challenge where the colours to use are Basic Black, Basic Gray & Baja Breeze.  I love the elegance of these ones together!

I’ve then designed my card on this weeks Mojo Monday Challenge.  I’ve taken a bit of artistic licence with this sketch by making one of the banners a bit wider than the other and then instead of using two circles down the side – I’ve only used one.  It just worked better for my card.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #133

Hey Everyone

Nikki has come up with this weeks challenge at Just Add Ink.  Our challenge is to create a project using Mustard and Metallics.  It’s not my week for my design team duties but I decided to play along to test myself with a colour that I don’t often use.  I’ve chosen to make a baby card using More Mustard as I think it’s a neutral kind of colour that can be used for a boy or girl. My favourite baby set at the moment is a retired Stampin’ Up! set called Bundle of Joy.  I’ve lightly coloured the giraffe and teddy using a blender pen and ink and fussy cut them out.  I raised them up to add dimension to my card and finished it off with brads, a balloon and Very Vanilla satin ribbon.

Here’s my card:

I hope you can join us this week at Just Add Ink – head over to the challenge and check out the fabulous cards the girls have created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Merry Monday Challenge #29

Hey Everyone

It’s Merry Monday time again!  Lesley has provided us with this great sketch for us to make our cards:

I did something that I very rarely do with this Christmas card – I heat embossed! I think I purchased this gold embossing powder about 2 years ago and had to crack it open for this challenge.  I’ve embossed my wreath and sentiment (even though you can’t see it in the photo).  I found a pack of DSP in the back of my cupboard that hadn’t been opened called – Christmas Cocoa – I didn’t even know I had it!  I really am shocking with my hoarding!

I hope you have time to check out the gorgeous cards the Merry Makers have created and join us for this weeks challenge.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #45

Hey Everyone

I’m back with another card and yes, it’s for another challenge – I’m addicted to them! Cindy has given us this tricky sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  I say tricky because it was one that threw me for a while.  I’ve used Stippled Blossoms again, but I had stamped the flower for a card yesterday and put it aside because I went with another colour.  If I left this flower on my desk I would’ve ended up heaving it in the bin by tomorrow.  I just HAD to use it up! 🙂

As I was sticking down my sentiment I looked at my mac and realised I’d missed that the sentiment was to go on the bottom of the card – whoops! I’ll check the sketch better next time. Here’s my card:

Thanks for stopping by.

Products Used:
Cardstock: Basic Gray, Whisper White, Lap of Luxury DSP (retired)
Ink: Concord Crush
Stamp Sets: Stippled Blossoms, Petite Pairs
Other Products: Jumbo Grommet (retired), Antique Brad, Concord Crush Ribbon, Basic Pearls, Circle Scissor, Circle Punches

Just Add Ink #127 & Reason to Smile for Mojo Monday #250

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday so that means a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge is to use the following colour palette to create our cards:

So as you’ve probably guessed I’m a huge lover of neutrals so when I saw the challenge was to use Basic Black, Whisper White and one other colour of my choice- I went straight to Crumb Cake as my other colour.  I’ve used the following fabulous sketch from Mojo Monday for my card:

This week I broke out my previously unused Reason to Smile stamp set for the first time. I’ve been holding on to this gorgeous flocked DSP from Stampin’ Up!s Mocha Morning DSP, but decided now was the time to use it.

Thanks for stopping by.

Vintage Grid Cards

Hey Everyone

You might remember I made this card for a Mojo Monday Challenge a little while ago.

As you know I’m into everything vintage  – I think it must be my mum’s influence (she’s a bit vintage herself! – just kidding mum – love you!).  My stamp girls requested we make this card at a recent workshop.  Half the girls requested vintage and half requested a brighter combination of colours.  I chose Perfect Plum and Certainly Celery for the brighter colours and I thought I’d share this card with you tonight.

Even though I like this card – I’m still loving the vintage card better. Which one do you like?

Thanks for stopping by.
