Freshly Made Sketches #366

Hey Everyone

Welcome to our newest challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week we have some exciting news!

For the next two weeks we are thrilled to announce a Design Team call!  Yes, we are looking to add to our fun team of enablers.  All the details to apply the Design Team are on the challenge blog.

On to the sketch.  This week our cool sketch has been designed by our fabulous sketch designer and ultra elegant card make Cecile Ribon.

So my initial thought was to replicate a Christmas tree like the sketch, but I decided to change things up and go with a layered floral card.

I received Incredible Like You at our recent Stampin’ Up! Onstage Event.  Of course I was in love with it as it’s a flower set and you know how much I love them.  I’ve stamped my flowers in Lovely Lipstick and fussy cut them out.  I then stamped my leaves from Petal Palette in Mossy Meadow Ink and gave them the same fussy cut treatment as the flowers.

The designer series paper I’ve used in the background is from my 6″ x 6″ Subtles DSP stack.  From memory I used a piece of Soft Sea Foam.  I then matted it with some Mossy Meadow Cardstock.  I added some bakers twine and a sentiment stamped in Mossy Meadow, also from Incredible Like You.  The font used for the sentiments in this set are so pretty and elegant.

Freshly Made Sketches #355

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday so that means a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch this week has been designed the seriously talented Kim Singdahlsen.

The flowers and leaves from Stampin’ Up!s Tropical Chic are sooooo pretty. I realised I haven’t used them in a little while and thought  it was time I inked them up again.  I’ve stamped the leaves in a combination of Basic Gray and Pool Party Inks.  The little flowers are stamped in Bermuda Bay Ink.  The Pool Party designer series paper I’ve used in the background is from Subtles 6″ x 6″ DSP.  I’ve added a strip of Basic Gray and Bermuda Bay Cardstock (embossed with my Corrugated Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder).  The sentiment I’ve used is from Love What You Do.

The Clean Team have created wonderful cards that will surely inspire you. Head over to the challenge and take a look for yourself.

CAS(E) this Sketch #285

Hey Everyone

We have had one cold and wet weekend here in Melbourne. It’s been a great day for crafting in my craft cave with my heater on and catching up Netflix while I created.  I made a card for this weeks sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch. Sketches are my favourite and this fab sketch gave me a chance to create a baby card.

Stampin’ Up!s Little Twinkle Stamp Set is a sweet little set for baby card. The constellation heart is just gorgeous and I’ve been wanting to use it as soon as I opened my latest order.  I gave it a light watercolour and added some darker shade to some of the shapes with Blushing Bride Ink.  I also added an Artisan Pearl for a little bit of twinkle to go with the sentiment.  The sentiment is also from this set and I think it adds a fun-ness to a baby card.  I also used the star background stamp in patches and then added some circle and star punches made with my Twinkle Builder Punch.  The designer series paper I’ve used is from 6″ x 6″ Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #349

Hey Everyone

Look at me posting for a second time today! This card I’ve created is for the newest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our fabulous sketch has been designed by my fellow downunderer (I totally made up that word….) Karren Johnson.  Karren’s card are always creative, witty and just plain gorgeous!

Karren’s sketch is perfect for adding layers or keeping it CAS.  I’ve done a bit of both. I’ve kept a white background but added a couple of layers under my Graceful Garden roses.  The roses are heat embossed with White Embossing Powder and very lightly watercoloured with Rich Razzleberry Ink.  This technique is so easy to watercolour as the embossed lines are there to keep the watery ink from spreading.

The leaves were also given the same light watercolouring treatment with Old Olive Ink.  The sentiment I’ve used is from Dragonfly Dreams.  I then added a strip of Rich Razzleberry Velvet Ribbon and some sequins.

Here’s my card:

Colour INKspiration #39

Hey Everyone

Welcome to another Wednesday! It’s time for a new challenge at Colour INKspiration Challenges and a blog hop!  This challenge is a facebook challenge where the design team members choose the top five cards entered and the facebook group get to choose the overall winner.  We would love you to play along with our challenge.  To link up your card and to also check out what everyone is creating, click here.

Take a look at our challenge for you this week.  You get to choose three colours for your submission for the challenge from Stampin’ Up! Subtles range.

The choices overwhelmed me for about 45 minutes…..I had all sorts of combinations spread out on my desk.  After a quick phone call to my mum to distract me, I came up with the idea to use – Pear Pizazz, Soft Sea Foam and Pool Party.  I then went about choosing a stamp set – Tropical Chic called out to me for my card.  The leaves I’ve stamped and fussy cut are stamped in a combination of Soft Sea Foam and Pear Pizzazz Inks.  The pretty little flower is stamped in Pool Party Ink and I’ve added some black definition to the centre of the flowers with my Journalling Pen.

I’m in lurve with the sentiment on my card.  It fits perfectly across my card and works so well with my habit of layering flowers and leaves above and below it.

I’ve used some 6″ x 6″ Subtles Pool Party Designer Series Paper for the panel behind my circle and some Pool Party Cardstock.  I then added some Pool Party Bakers Twine to finish off my card – I don’t even know if it needed it, but I couldn’t stop adding to my layers….I don’t think it looks too busy, does it?

The next hop along the way is the talented Mel Pagano.  Click here or the next button below to take you to her blog.

CAS(E) this Sketch #283

Hey Everyone

Following my recent teen boy card, I wanted to created a teen girl card.  You can find my boy card by clicking here.  The sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch has a really fun sketch that I thought would be perfect for the challenge I’d given myself.

I really do love the sentiment I’ve used on my card.  The font and size is perfect for so many of my cards.  This sentiment is from Picture Perfect Birthday.  I’ve given my sentiment some light stamping behind it with the confetti type stamp from the same set in Blushing Bride.

The designer series paper is also Blushing Bride DSP from 6″ x 6″ Subtles Designer Series Paper.  This would have to be the reason I joined Stampin’ Up! all those years ago, was for the matching of inks, DSP, ribbons, markers and well pretty much everything!

After looking through my colour charts, I decided to pair my Blushing Bride with copper, rather than one of the other gorgeous colours SU! has.  I’ve heat embossed my candles (also from Picture Perfect Birthday) with Copper Embossing Powder, added some Copper Sequins and tied a bow with some Copper Trim.  This is a combo I haven’t tried before, but  I am loving this for a teen girl.

Thanks for stopping by.
