Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #232 & The Paper Players #126

Hey Everyone

I’m a few minutes late with my post tonight because as soon as I got home, the power went out!  We didn’t know what to do with ourselves, isn’t it sad how much we rely on power these days?

We have the following colour challenge you this week at Create with Connie & Mary:

I’m also combining the colour challenge with the theme challenge over at The Paper Players where their challenge is to create a clean and simple card featuring a snowflake.

Here’s my attempt at clean and simple:

The Paper Players Challenge #122

Hey Everyone

Just a quick one tonight – I’ve made a card for LeAnne’s clean and simple challenge over the The Paper Players.  The challenge is to feature Silver or Gold on our projects.

I do have to tell  you my card had way more layers and ribbon, but I reduced the amount of clutter on my card before I stuck it together. This is my attempt and clean and simple.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers

The Paper Players #121 & Mojo Monday #267

Hey Everyone

I’ve got a quick one for you tonight.  I’ve made my card for two challenges – Anne Marie’s colour challenge at The Paper Players and the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday.  Here’s their inspiration pics:

I went hunting for any DSP that had Old Olive in it and came up with these ones, both are from Stampin’ Up!s Festival of Prints DSP Stack.  For a while there I couldn’t incorporate More Mustard onto my card but then decided I would use it for my flowers (pretty obvious that’s where I should use it, but it didn’t come to me straight away!) Here’s my card:

Thanks for stopping by.

Products Used:
Cardstock: Bravo Burgundy, Very Vanilla, Festival of Prints DSP Stack
Ink: More Mustard, Bravo Burgundy
Stamp Sets: Summer Silhouettes, Petite Pairs
Other Products: Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon (retired), Circle Punches, Basic Pearls

Mojo Monday #266 & The Paper Players #120

Hey Everyone

It’s a holiday here in Melbourne today so I was able to play around in my craft room.  I meant to go in there and clean it up, but so far all I’ve done is make one card – I keep getting interrupted.  The reason it’s a holiday here is because of a horse race – it’s the race that “stops the nation” apparently.  I’m just glad it stopped me from going to work!

My card is made for two challenges – Mojo Monday where they have this fabulous sketch (I’ll be using this one again for sure!) and Ann’s theme challenge over at The Paper Players.  Their “Give Thanks” theme challenge can be interpreted in so many ways.  I’ve gone with a simple Thank You card.  One of the girls at work recently asked me for one and I realised I didn’t have any on hand.

Here’s my card:

The Paper Players Challenge #119

Hey Everyone

Look at me! It’s Monday and I’m posting during the day – I’m on a day off from work so I managed to sneak a card in for a challenge.  I made my card for the Nance’s sketch challenge at The Paper Players.  This is a fantastic layout so I wanted to play along (early for once!). As soon as I saw this sketch I knew exactly what I was going to make – don’t you just love it when it all comes together easily?

I’ve gone a little bit shabby with this one.  I was inspired to make some flowers are seeing Helen’s beautiful flower here – doesn’t it look real? I haven’t gone with a camellia but with rolled roses instead.  Here’s my card:

Thanks for stopping by.

The Paper Players Challenge #118

Hey Everyone

It’s been ages since I’ve had a chance to play along with the challenges at The Paper Players.  The reason being the challenges goes live on a Sunday evening here in Australia and then they finish early Saturday morning.  I work full time, so I find it hard to enter most weeks now – unless of course I have a day off work like I did today 🙂

The very talented Anne Marie has given the challenge this week of creating a clean and simple project using frames.  I may as well let you know now – my card is not truly clean and simple…….you know I struggle with this.

This card started with my wanting to use my new Candlelight Christmas Specialty DSP.  I fell in love with this gorgeous DSP, but wanted to use it for a feminine card rather than a Christmas one.  I’ve made a card with a kind of a shadow box frame that I embossed with my new Lacy Brocade embossing folder.  I tend to fussy-cut a lot (have you noticed?) and have used one of the flowers from Everything Eleanor and the leaves from Summer Silhouettes.  For the base of the shadow box I stamped the words from a retired Stampin’ Up! set called Charming. Here’s what I came up with:

And from another angle so you can see the raised frame:

The Paper Players Challenge #112 & Mojo Monday #258

Hey Everyone

I’ve been waiting, rather impatiently, for my first Stampin’ Up! order from the Australian 2012-2013 Annual Catalogue and guess what? – it arrived today, finally.  So instead of doing what I had planned today, I whipped out to my room and made my card with my new toys.  I have so many to choose from, but I chose to use two new stamp sets I’ve been hanging to get my hands on  – Everything Eleanor and Summer Silhouettes.

The colours for my card are from this weeks The Paper Players Challenge where the colours to use are Basic Black, Basic Gray & Baja Breeze.  I love the elegance of these ones together!

I’ve then designed my card on this weeks Mojo Monday Challenge.  I’ve taken a bit of artistic licence with this sketch by making one of the banners a bit wider than the other and then instead of using two circles down the side – I’ve only used one.  It just worked better for my card.

Thanks for stopping by.

The Paper Players Challenge #108 & Freshly Made Sketches #48

Hey Everyone

What a great colour combination Ann from the The Paper Players has given us this week:

I’ve combined these fabulous colours with Tui’s really cool sketch at Freshly Made Sketches:

Initially I was going to use these colours for a man card, but I thought that would be too predictable of me – so I’ve gone for a flowery feminine card instead (although that is probably predictable of me too!) :

Thanks for stopping by.

Paper Players Challenge #103

Hey Everyone

Check out the colour combination Anne Marie has come up with this week over at The Paper Players!

These colours are so pretty and soft together, aren’t they? I might have to use them again – thanks for the inspiration Anne Marie!  My layout for my card was inspired by an old Pals Paper Parts sketch and then as I normally do – I changed it up a bit.  I’m hanging out for our new Stampin’ Up! catalogue so I can buy myself some new flowery sets.  Until it comes I’ve decided I’m going to revisit some old stamp sets that have been neglected in my cupboard.  Upsy Daisy is one of those stamp sets that hasn’t stayed on my desk (where my favourites live).  I  don’t think I’ve used it much at all over the last 2 years.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers
