CAS(E) This Sketch #238 & Merry Monday Challenge #255

Hey Everyone

I had a day off work today and after breakfast with my husband, I had time to play in my craft room.  The card I made is for the following challenges – the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge and the theme challenge at Merry Monday Challenge.

Here are the pics for their challenges:

Oh how I love black and white for Christmas!  I was thrilled to see that one of the designer series paper packs in the Stampin’ Up! 2017 Holiday Catalogue featured Basic Black, Whisper White and Old Olive.  This DSP pack is called Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper.  The holly on my card is from a Stampin Up! stamp set called Holly Berry Happiness.  After stamping the outline in Basic Black Archival Ink, I then watercoloured the centre with Old Olive Ink.  The centre of the berries is lightly coloured with Cherry Cobbler Ink.

The word “Joy” has been cut with a retired die from Wondrous Wreath Framelit Dies.  I then added a couple of thin strips of Basic Black cardstock as I felt that side of the card was a little bare – not gonna lie, it took me forever to get two that were similar in width and not furry edged….  To finish off my card, I added some Basic Black Bakers Twine and some Silver Sequins.

Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink #329

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink for you.  This weeks inspiration picture was suggested by Di.

I tried to bring each of the colours from the pretty bouquet of tulips into my card.  The colours I’ve used for my flowers are So Saffron, Blushing Bride and Melon Mambo. My leaves were made with Gumball Green and Mint Macaron.  I had the sentiment sitting on my desk that I had previously cut for another project and never used.  Instead of just leaving it white, I decided to give it a bit of colour. To give it a rainbow effect, I wet it with water and then took my watercolour pen and lightly added the same colours I used for the flowers.  After drying it off with my heat tool, I felt it needed a little more colour.  After adding a bit here and there, I dried it off again. This is the result and I have to say that I like this effect!

Merry Monday Challenge #134 & Cardabilities #111

Hey Everyone

Just a quick one tonight as a really good movie is about to start.  I had a chance to create one card on this busy weekend for a challenge so I combined it for two – this weeks Merry Monday Challenge and Cardabilities sketch challenge.  Here are their inspiration pics:

I dragged out a retired Stampin’ Up! set for the baubles called Merry & Type. Once I heat embossed them with Silver embossing powder I gave them a bit of colour with my blendabilities.  I’ve used some retired brushed silver cardstock for the card base and I’ve teamed this with some DSP from All is Calm.

Merry Monday Challenge #107

Hey Everyone

I recently decided that I needed to make a start on my Christmas card stash.  The Christmas Card Challenge I love to play along with is Merry Monday.  I was thrilled that I won the challenge with this card and then I was asked by the Design Team to Guest Design this week.  Here’s their sketch:

I just love this Santa’s face from Stampin’ Up!s Santa’s List – I think he works really well with the sketch.  As you can probably tell I’m addicted to Fresh Prints Designer Series Stack and love that these non-traditional Christmas papers work for a Christmas card too! A bit of faux washi, a mini clip and a sentiment from More Merry Messages and my card was done.  Here’s what I came up with:

The Design Team is sure to wow you with their cards – head over to Merry Monday and check them out. Hopefully you can win a challenge like me and have the opportunity to play along with this fabulous team.  Thanks for the opportunity ladies!

Merry Monday Challenge #104 & Cardabilities #97

Hey Everyone

I ‘ve decided it was time to mark a start on my Christmas cards and what better challenge to enter than Merry Monday Challenge.  This week they have an interesting colour combo – I say interesting because, even though I’m a neutrals girls, I probably don’t combine slate/gray and kraft together very often.  I found I actually like this combo!

The layout for my card came from this weeks fabulous Cardabilities sketch:

Mojo Monday #338 & Merry Monday Challenge #101

Hey Everyone

I’ve been a bit quite around here because I’ve been a tad busy lately.   Let me tell you – I’m missing my stamping time!

The challenges I’m entering my card into are Monday Monday’s sketch challenge and a challenge that I haven’t entered since I left their design team in August last year – Merry Monday.  I really miss the girls on the design team and also miss my regular Chrissy cards.  I’ve lost the hang of how to make a Christmas card so it took me a sec to get started today!

MMC101picI really love these challenge colours together and have decided that my card kinda reminds me of wrapped present with my big gray bow. This ribbon is one I haven’t really used much of, so today was my opportunity to give it a go.  The trees are from a Stampin’ Up! set called Evergreen and the sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments.

Merry Monday Challenge #72

Hey Everyone

The card I’m sharing with you today is my last card as a Design Team member with Merry Monday Challenges.  I’ve had a ball and want to thank Lesley for asking me to be part of an amazing group of creative women.  I gave myself the challenge of entering every challenge when Lesley started this challenge at the start of last year.  I’m pretty proud of myself as I can say I was able to play along every week.  Even when I was away I was able to enter because by that time I was on the Design Team and had the sketches in advance. I now have a huge stockpile of Christmas cards.

Here’s Lesley’s versatile sketch:

I’ve gone a bit vintagey with my card today and have used a retired Stampin’ Up! set called Watercolour Winter and the paper I’ve used is from a retired pack called Brocade Background DSP.

Head over to Lesley’s blog and check out the gorgeous inspiration from the Merry Makers.
