Just Add Ink #505

Hey Everyone

Time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink? I am. Our challenge for you this week is to:

I have a lot of stamp sets that I could’ve used for this challenge. After 10 years of being a demo, my drawers are overflowing with sets that I think one day I will cull.  One day…..

The stamp set I’ve chosen for the challenge is the Rooted In Nature Stamp Set.  I inked up the leaves with a combination of Bermuda Bay, Basic Gray and Pool Party Inks. I fussy cut them out and adhered to the card base.  The base was daubed with Smoky Slate Ink.

The little leaves on my card have been stamped with Basic Gray Ink and also fussy cut out.  The sentiment I’ve used on my card is also from the Rooted In Nature Stamp Set.  Braided Linen Trim was given another workout on my card. As always, I roughed up the ends and adhered with Glue Dots. My card felt very dark, so to brighten it up, I added three Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

The girls at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous cards for this challenge. Head over to the challenge and make sure you check them all out.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #504

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and the newest challenge at Just Add Ink. Have a look at the fabulous colours we have for you to play along with! I ADORE these colours!

Straight away I thought baby card when I saw these colours. My friend Paula recently demonstrated how to use up scraps on your cards. I thought it would be a great way to use some of my Basic Gray and Smoky Slate off cut pieces.  The Shimmery White Cardstock in the background has been watercoloured with Smoky Slate Ink. I then cut a panel out of the background and layered the off cut pieces. I matted each side of the Shimmery White Cardstock with a thin strip of Rococo Rose Cardstock.

I then coloured my all time favourite image for a baby card – this sweet lil rabbit from Fable Friends. I wasn’t finished there. I die cut two trees with the Majestic Mountain Dies in Smoky Slate and Basic Gray Cardstocks. A sentiment from Fable Friends was added and a Rhinestone Basic Jewel for that bling-y touch.

The girls at Just Add Ink have created wonderful cards using these colours. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Just Add Ink #503

Hey Everyone

Welcome to the newest challenge at Just Add Ink. Our challenge this week is for you to:

So I started out with Pencils and Stencils. Then gave up and went with Stencils and Patterned Paper. I created the background using my Basic Pattern Decorative Masks and Crumb Cake Ink.  I used washi tape to keep my stencil in place and took a dauber and Crumb Cake Ink to create the background.

The patterned paper came the Parisian Blossoms Designer Series Paper.  I trimmed the DSP so that the same pattern peaked from each side of the cardstock. I then matted the DSP with Pool Party Cardstock.

The poppies I’ve added to my card are from the Painted Poppies Stamp Set.  These poppies have been coloured with my Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Blends. After I stamped the leaves with Black Memento Ink, I gave them a really quick and light colour with the Light Pool Party Blend. The sentiment I’ve adhered to my card is from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set. To finish off my card I added a strip of Linen Thread and tied a bow.

The team at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous and varied cards with this challenge. Pop over to Just Add Ink and check them out.

Just Add Ink #502

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  Our challenge for you this week is a sketch challenge.  Take a look at the sketch we have for you to try:

One of the girls I work with rotates her dresses and even has a spreadsheet on how many times she has worn each dress. I really should do this with my stamp sets. That way each of them would get the same amount of love like her dresses! However, I’m too lazy for that….

I felt it was time that I gave Very Versailles some ink. The ink I’ve given my leaves was with my Stampin’ Write Markers.  I applied the following colours to my leaves image – Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler and Mossy Meadow.  I applied them directly to my stamp in that order so that I didn’t transfer the darkest ink onto my lightest marker.  I then huffed on the stamp with my breath and stamped the image onto Thick Whisper White Cardstock.  I repeated the process and then fussy cut the two images out.

I love the background script stamp from this set, so I inked it up in Crumb Cake Ink and stamped it on some Whisper White Cardstock. I roughed up the edges with my finger nail and gave the same treatment to Crumb Cake and Pool Party Cardstock. I daubed the edges of each of these with Crumb Cake Ink.  I had some strips of Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Cardstock sitting on my desk so I added them to tie all the colours together. I also had this strip of Braided Linen Trim left over from another project, so this was added too. The sentiment that I used is also from the Very Versailles Stamp Set.  To complete my card, I added three Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

The Design Team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful cards using this weeks sketch. Pop over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created. We would love it if you could play along.

Sailing Home for Stampin’ Through The Catalogue

Hey Everyone

I go through phases of making masculine cards. I’m having one of those phases now.  When I saw the challenge at Stampin’ Through The Catalogue was to use the Sailing Home Stamp Set, I chose to play along.  I think I need the inspiration of a challenge to spur me on. If I sit down and try and design a man card without a challenge involved, I can stare at blank Whisper White Cardstock for an hour.

The Sailing Home Stamp Set would be my favourite set for making masculine cards from the current catalogue. I love all the images in this set, but the lighthouse would be my favourite image as it’s the perfect size as a focal point for my card and it’s a great image to colour.

I also like a lot of detail on my cards, so this set has a fabulous anchor image that is perfect for layering and is really easy to colour.  By layering images, cardstock and embellishments I get the fullness I like on my finished cards.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #501

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday here in Australia and time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge is an inspiration pic. Take a look at those fabulous bright colours you have to work with:

I wanted to create a card using those colours, so I reached for the To A Wild Rose Stamp Set and coloured two roses – one in Lovely Lipstick Ink and one in Pineapple Punch Ink.  The leaves are also from the To A Wild Rose Stamp Set. They’ve been coloured with the Mint Macaron Blends.

The sentiment I’ve embossed with White Embossing Powder on Basic Black Cardstock is also from the same stamp set.  When it came time to find some DSP, I searched through my packs (and realised I have too many) and found this fabulous bright piece from the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper pack.  I added a bow made from the Crinkled Whisper White Seam Binding Ribbon.

The team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful and varied cards using the inspiration pic. Make sure you head over to Just Add Ink and take a look.  We would love it if you could play along.

Just Add Ink #500 Blog Hop

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and a very special celebration at Just Add Ink! This week is our 500th challenge, so we are celebrating with a blog hop.  You will have probably come from Rachel’s blog, but if you’re starting here, make sure you get around to check out the gorgeous inspiration the team at Just Add Ink have created.

For our special challenge we are giving you the challenge to:

For this challenge I wanted to use my Well Written Dies.  These dies match the Well Said Stamp Set. The birthday sentiment I’ve added to my card comes from this stamp set.

I went bold with my image and colour choice.  The rose images are fussy cut from a background stamp called Breathtaking Bouquet Stamp Set.  I coloured these roses with my Cherry Cobbler Blends and added some shadows and definition with my Smoky Slate Blends and Journaling Pen.  The leaves are from another stamp set called To A Wild Rose Stamp Set. The leaves have been coloured with my Soft Seam Foam and Smoky Slate Blends.

To add some interest to the background behind my roses, I stamped the french script stamp from the Parisian Beauty Stamp Set in Crumb Cake Ink.  I have always love the combination of black, white and red, so I couldn’t resist adding a strip of the Golden Honey Specialty DSP.  I added some Linen Thread and tied a bow under the sentiment to finish off my card. Because of the business of the roses and DSP I haven’t added any bling for once. I didn’t think it needed any bling to detract from those roses!

The next hop along the way is the lovely Chantell Randall! Click here to take you to her blog or on the button below. Happy hopping!

Just Add Ink #499

Hey Everyone

The design team at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous cards for their newest challenge.  This week the challenge is a colour challenge. Here’s the colour palette we have for you.

I chose to combine the colours using a Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Free As A Bird Stamp Set.  To start my card, .I sponged the background with Blushing Bride Ink. I cut Whisper White and Blushing Bride Cardstock diecuts using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies.  I then stamped the bird image from the Free As A Bird Stamp Set with Black Memento Ink. The birds have been coloured with my Highland Heather Blends and the leaves have been a light colour with Balmy Blue Blends.  I then went to town with fussy cutting the image out. Once I layered the image, I felt it was a little bare on the bottom left side, so I stamped the single flower and leaves from the Free As A Bird Stamp Set and added them to give more balance. The little pearls I’ve used on my card have been coloured with the Dark Petal Pink Blend – as close to Blushing Bride as I could get.

We would love it if you could play along with the challenge. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what the team have created.

Just Add Ink #497

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge for you to play along with at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge for you is a sketch challenge:

It was only after I took my photo did I realise two things – my sentiment is a tad skewed (will fix this tomorrow) and I may’ve got the layering a little wrong….  My excuse is I had a busy weekend and hurriedly put together this card after a card class on Sunday.  I’m blaming weary eyes and not enough concentration….

I thought it was time that I created a man card. I don’t have as much need for a masculine cards as as I do with my feminine ones, but my man card stash was getting a little low.  The stamp set I chose for this card is called Sailing Home Stamp Set.  I stamped the three images and gave them some colour with some blends.  I fussy cut them out and put them aside until I’d daubed the background with some Pool Party Ink.  I placed my images on the card and then decided I needed more details, so I stamped the birds on the card base – I then felt I had enough details.

I adhered all my images, sentiment and Linen Thread. Lastly, I really roughed up the Linen Thread and pulled it apart in places and stuck it in place with Glue Dots.

The team at Just Add Ink have created fab cards with the design. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #495

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge for you to play along with at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge for you is to:

I’m all about comfort zone and when I saw this challenge, I may’ve panicked.  I was trying to think how I could combine all the colours of a rainbow on my card.  After my initial panic, I realised the challenge of combining the colours wouldn’t be as hard as I thought if I used the colours on these fabulous lipsticks from the Dressed To Impress Stamp Set.  I layered my card with Gorgeous Grape Cardstock and this pretty DSP from Best Dressed DSP.  The sentiment I’ve used is from the Dressed To Impress Stamp Set – love this matching sentiment for my lippy’s!

The team at Just Add Ink have created fabulous cards for the challenge.  Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created. While you’re there, we would love it if you could play along.

Thanks for stopping by.
