Just Add Ink #474

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink for you.  This week our challenge is a colour challenge. Take a look at the pretty colours we have for you to play along with:

Blackberry Bliss is a colour I haven’t used in ages! This is why I love colour challenges, they make me try different combinations that I wouldn’t normally put together.

I also tried my hand with one of my Basic Pattern Decorative Masks and some Shimmery White Embossing Paste.  I created the background of my card using these products.  Once I set it with my Heat Tool, I added my layers of:

  • Blackberry Bliss stamped frame from Very Versailles
  • Fussy cut Mossy Meadow leaves from Very Versailles
  • Fussy cut Blackberry Bliss and Rococo Rose flowers from First Frost
  • Black Memento sentiment from Very Versailles

And my card was done!

I am loving every one of the cards the design team at Just Add Ink have created.  Pop over to the challenge and check them out.  We’d love it if you could play along with us

Thanks for stopping by.

Hey Everyone

It’s time for another challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge for you is a sketch challenge:

My initial thought was to create a Christmas Card.  In the end I’ve gone with what isn’t a Christmas card at all……sometimes that just happens 🙂

I started with two different papers from Woven Threads DSP.  I then chose Free As A Bird Stamp Set and coloured my birds with a combination of Ivory and Crumb Cake Blends.  For the leaves I chose Lovely Lipstick and Old Olive Blends.  I then fussy the image out and layered it on a strip of Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace Trim, Crumb Cake Cardstock and a sentiment.  To finish off my card, I added three rhinestones from my Noble Peacock Rhinestones.

Here’s my take on the sketch:

I can’t wait to see what you create with this weeks sketch.  If you’d like some inspiration for the sketch, head over to Just Add Ink and see what the Design Team have created.

Hey Everyone

It’s that time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink!  This week our challenge for you is to:

When I first saw what this challenge was, I’m not gonna lie, I panicked!!! I thought to myself “how do I create a card with no stamping?!?” After I calmed myself, I realised I could do this.  I thought about what I had in my collection that words on it and came up with my Come Sail Away Memories and More Card Pack.  It has images and pre-printed words that I could use for a masculine card.

When in doubt for a card, I layer.  By adding a strip of DSP, some Sahara Sand Cardstock and a piece of printed rope from the M&M Card Pack, it gave me the detail I like for card.  I fussy cut the lighthouse image from one of the cards and layered it on my card base.  The twine is knotted together and layered behind the lighthouse.  I then added a wheel diecut cut with my Smooth Sailing Dies.  I added my sentiments and my card was done! It all came together and I now wonder why I was so worried…..

Here’s what I created:

Hey Everyone

Challenges are great for testing me.  They’re also great inspiration as a starting point to make a card.  Whenever I’m stuck for inspiration, I find a challenge and away I go.

The challenge at Just Add Ink this week is to:

Whenever there’s a challenge like this, I always look at stamps sets I have starting with the letter C.  Colorful Seasons jumped out at me straight away.  If I had more crafting time on the weekend, then I might have looked at techniques starting with C or even an image from another set that started with a C.  But with my limited crafting time on the weekend, I went with the safe stamp set option.

The leaves from Colorful Seasons were given some colour with my Stampin’ Blends.  The colours I’ve used were Crumb Cake and Soft Suede Blends.  The little leaves were inked up with Mossy Meadow Ink.  It was only after I’d coloured the bird from Free As A Bird Stamp Set, that I probably could’ve coloured it yellow like a Canary, but then it would’ve stood out like a sore thumb against the earthy tones I’d gone for.

The background panel was stamped with my Birch Background Stamp.  For big stamps like this one, I now use my Stamparatus. If I don’t get full coverage on my first try, then I ink it up again and add a second coat of ink.  It was inked up with Crumb Cake Ink.  I added a strip of Very Vanilla 3/8″ Scalloped Lace Trim and some Linen Thread under the sentiment (also from Colorful Seasons) and added a Linen Thread Bow.  Basic Pearls were added because I like lots of pretty things on my cards.

The team at Just Add Ink have created all wonderful cards with this challenge.  Why not pop over and see how varied their projects are?  We would love it if you could play along with us too!

Hey Everyone

Welcome to another challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge is for you to create a project using the following inspiration pic:

I went with using the theme and colours from this fabulous pic for my card.  It’s never too early to start on your Christmas card stash because the festive season comes around in the blink of an eye.

My Christmas card featured berries and background stamp from a retired Stampin’ Up! set called Peaceful Noel Stamp Set. The leaves that go with my berries were cut with my Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies.  I also used the Merry Christmas To All Bundle to create my sentiment.  Because I like pretties, I add a strip of Real Red Ribbon under the sentiment.  The strip of black and white striped DSP was laying on my never-ending pile of offcuts.  This DSP is from a retired SAB DSP pack called Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper.  I added this for a contrast between the Whisper White card base and the Sahara Sand Cardstock.  The panel of Whisper White Cardstock has been embossed with my Script Embossing Folder.

The team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful and varied inspiration for you.  Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Hey Everyone

Welcome to the newest challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week is sketch week – sketches are my favourite and I always refer back to them when I’m in need of some inspiration to start a card.

I’ve used DSP strips with gaps in-between each one to create the panel shapes from the sketch.  The designer series paper I’ve used for the background and the panels is from Woven Threads Designer Series Paper.

The flower that I’ve lightly watercoloured with Pool Party Ink is from a new-to-me stamp set called To A Wild Rose Stamp Set. The leaves are also from this set and have been given a VERY light and VERY quick watercolour with Old Olive Ink.

I may have actually gone rogue with this sketch….. Instead of just one square on my card, I decided to add two and off-centre them.  I also created frames with my Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies rather than a solid square.

I wanted a birthday sentiment as those are the cards I need the most.  For this card I’ve used the “happy birthday” sentiment from Perennial Birthday Stamp Set.  To finished of the card I added three sequins from Woven Threads Sequin Assortment.

The team at Just Add Ink have created amazing cards using this sketch.  Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge for you at Just Add Ink.  This week is inspiration picture week – take a look at this wonderful pic the team have found for you.

As I said yesterday, I am LOVING the Sailing Home Suite Bundle.  I may need an intervention soon……

I’ve decided the card I’ve created could given to male or a female given the So Saffron Ink daubed background. The intricate laser cut piece I’ve cut down is from the Come Sail Away Memories and More Card Pack.  To hide where I’ve trimmed it down to fit my card, I’ve added a piece of knotted Black Baker’s Twine.  This twine has been adhered with Glue Dots.

I stamped the lighthouse from Sailing Home Stamp Set and gave it a light watercolour with Smoky Slate Ink.  As I’ve done with pretty much every card I’ve created with this set, I’ve added some rope edglits cut with my Sailing Home Dies. To finish off my card, I added a simple sentiment from the Well Said Stamp Set.

I am loving the variety of projects the team at Just Add Ink have created – click here to take you to the challenge and see all the awesomeness they’ve created.

Hey Everyone

This weeks challenge at Just Add Ink is a great challenge and a great way to test yourself- I’m gonna say, it stumped me for a little bit and I then went for a simple way to meet the challenge parameters.

Yatchs! It was the only thing I could think of that started with any of the letters and Sailing Home was sitting on my desk.  I’ve stamped the yatchs and lighthouse in Black Memento Ink and lightly watercoloured the shadow lines with Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Night of Navy Inks.  I may actually be in love with set stamp……

I daubed the background lightly with Soft Sky Ink to add focus around the images.  I then took some Night of Navy/Sahara Sand Twine and roughed it up around the edges and added it under my sentiment.  In the end it was a pretty quick and easy card and I was happy to have another man card to have in my stash.

The girls at Just Add Ink have created awesome cards to inspire you. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve come up with.

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday, so that means a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge is inspiration picture week.  Take a look at the pic below:

Not sure if it’s just me, but as soon as I saw the white flowers on white background, I thought of a wedding card.  White on white has a real elegance to it and I tried to replicate the elegant feel for my card.  White flowers stamped on Whisper White Cardstock felt kind of naked to me.  So I decided to emboss these gorgeous flowers from Graceful Garden with White Embossing Powder on Vellum Cardstock.  I then added light touches of So Saffron Ink to the flowers and Pear Pizzazz Ink to the leaves.  When I say light, I mean really light – I wanted enough colour so they didn’t blend in to the background.

I then embossed the leaf stamp from Graceful Garden on Vellum Cardstock and fussy cut it out for some extra foliage. The sentiment I’ve stamped is also from Graceful Garden – it’s one of my favourite sentiments for a wedding card. I looped some retired Very Vanilla Ribbon behind the sentiment a couple of times and adhered them to my card.  To finish off my card, I added some sequins for that bling-y wedding feel.

As always the team at Just Add Ink have created awesome cards that will surely inspire you. Head over to the challenge and see how gorgeous their creations are.  We would for you to create and link up a card for our challenge.

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week is a colour challenge.  Take a look at the pretty colours have for you to try:

Graceful Garden is a stamp set that I am going to really miss when it retires in June.  I have totally loved everything about this stamp set and have used it many times for my cards – especially this rose stamp.

The roses are fussy cut and have been lightly watercoloured with Pineapple Punch and then given highlights with Blueberry Bushel in the petal lines.  I stamped the background stamp and then randomly lightly watercoloured with Coastal Cabana.  The sentiment I’ve added to my card is from Perennial Birthday.  Under the sentiment I added a strip of Blueberry Bushel Cardstock to tie in all the colours.

The team at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous projects to inspire you.  Pop over to the challenge and take a look.  We would love it if you could play along with this great colour combination.

Thanks for stopping by.
