Freshly Made Sketches #379

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch has been designed by the talented Judy Rozema. Take a look at her fab sketch:

As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to use Graceful Garden.  The roses match the sketch and gave me another chance to play around with colouring.  The colours I’ve used for my roses are Highland Heather and Elegant Eggplant Inks.  The leaves and stem are coloured with Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive Inks.

The base of my card is stamped with the background stamp from Graceful Garden in Black Stazon Ink.  I layered a strip of Basic Black Cardstock and a strip of spotted DSP from Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper.  I then took two pieces of Basic Black Bakers Twine and placed them across my card. I tied a bow with some offcut twine and adhered it to my card with a Glue Dot.  The sentiment I’ve used on my card is also from Graceful Garden – don’t you just love the font in this sentiment?

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have gorgeous cards with this weeks sketch.  Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.  While you’re there, we would love it if you could link up a card.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #378

Hey Everyone

Welcome to a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch hostess is the wonderfully talented Amy O’Neill.  I absolutely adore everything she creates.

After playing around for about an hour with different stamp sets and colour combinations, I finally went with Rooted in Nature for my card. The main reason it took me an hour to decide was because I was re-watching Stranger Things on Netflix, so my focus wasn’t initially on my card…..was too busy watching Eleven do her thing……

The colour combination I chose to use on my card was Bermuda Bay, Pool Party and Sahara Sand.  I stamped the circular timber piece in Sahara Sand Ink and my leaves and trees are stamped with Bermuda Bay and Pool Party Inks.  This fab sentiment I’ve used on my card is also from Rooted In Nature and is stamped in Bermuda Bay Ink.  I added a strip of Bermuda Bay Cardstock that I offset under my sentiment.  I wrapped some White Bakers Twine around the end of my sentiment strip and then added some tiny Needlepoint Nook Buttons.

You can see that my layering is slightly off from Amy’s sketch, so I hope she’ll forgive me.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #377

Hey Everyone

Welcome to another Wednesday and another sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  The sketch hostess is me this week. Take a look at the sketch I’ve designed:

I can’t get enough of Stampin’ Up!s Dear Doily Bundle!  From the flowers to the gorgeous doilies, I don’t know which I love most!  The combination of colours I’ve used on my flowers are Petal Pink and Smoky Slate.  I then added some Basic Gray to the tips of the flowers to make them stand out a little more. The matching die to these flowers makes it a breeze to cut them out and place on my card.  My flowers are colours by applying the markers directly to my stamp, huff on them with my breath and then stamp them on Whisper White Cardstock.

I had some off cut pieces of Smoky Slate DSP and Whisper White Cardstock sitting on my desk, so they ended up being layered under my flowers.  The sentiment I’ve used on my card is from Tropical Chic. I haven’t used this one in a while, but I love how it fits across the card and has the mixture of fonts.  I then cut a strip of Basic Gray Cardstock that has been cut with the edgelit type die.  I place this under my sentiment.  The doily that I have used on my card is stamped in Flirty Flamingo Ink and then fussy cut out. I then added a strip of White Burlap Ribbon and an Artisan Pearl to finish my card off.

The talented team at Freshly Made Sketches have created gorgeous cards with my sketch.  Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.  I can’t wait to see what you’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #376

Hey Everyone

Happy Wednesday! As you all probably know by now, Wednesday’s mean a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch designer this week is the fabulously talented Karren Johnson.

I have so many stamp sets sitting on my desk at the moment that it took me a while to choose a set.  Wouldn’t you know it? It was a floral stamp set I ended up going with!

This flower and leaf stamp is from Stampin’ Up!s All That You Are.  I gave it a light watercolour Powder Pink and added some Smoky Slate for definition in the crease lines.  I also used my Journalling Pen to give the base of the flowers more depth.  The stem and the leaves are watercoloured with Pear Pizzazz Ink.

The sentiment I’ve used is from the Well Said Bundle. Oh how I love this matching stamp and die set!  So many choices! The strip of DSP I’ve used on the bottom of my card is from Floral Romance Speciality Designer Series Paper.  This sheet is vellum and has a real elegance to it.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful inspiration for you. Head over to the challenge and take a look. Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #374

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday already! We have a new sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This weeks sketch has been designed by Jennifer Brum.  It’s so cool and I have to say I had a lot of fun creating my card.

I laughed when I saw this sketch and the tons of circles on it – I even had to check it twice that it was Jen’s sketch as she has a fear of circles on sketches – I am pretty sure she has overcome her fear with this fabulous sketch!

To match the circles on the sketch, I used the bokeh effect stamp from Beauty Abounds.  I stamped the circles in Lemon Lime Twist Ink.  The Lemon Lime Twist diecut leaves I’ve used are cut with my Wonderful Romance Framelits Dies.  I had previously fussy cut the butterfly I’ve used on this card and had it leftover from another project. So apart from the Birthday sentiment, this card is pretty simple without my usual layers.  The diecut sentiment is a new-to-me die set. It’s called Well Written Framelits Dies. This set has sooooo many wonderful and useful sentiments that will feature on many of my cards.

Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and take a look at the amazing cards the team have created with this sketch.

Thanks thanks for stopping by.

Hey Everyone

Welcome to our newest sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This weeks sketch has been designed by the fabulous and so very talented Kim Singdahlsen.Something I don’t normally do is flip a sketch.  I’m thinking the main reason I did this was to use up the diecut from Wonderful Floral Framelits Dies that I had sitting on my desk. I’ve placed it between strips of Gingham Gala 6″ x 6″ DSP and Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock.  I’ve starting cutting into my DSP! Eek! The black and white butterfly has been cut from Botanical Butterfly DSP – an item you can earn free during Sale-A-Bration when you spend $90 or more.

The sentiment I’ve used is from the Stampin’ Up! 2019 Occasions Catalogue called Beauty Abounds. To highlight the sentiment I’ve stamped a bokeh effect stamp also from this stamp set in Lemon Lime Twist. I then added some leafy diecuts from Wonderful Romance Framelits dies. To finish of my mostly monochromatic card, I then added a Lemon Lime Twist sequin.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome cards using Kim’s sketch. Pop over to the challenge and take a look.

Freshly Made Sketches #342

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday so that means we have a new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch this week has been designed by the amazing Linda Callahan who is one of the loveliest and most creative card makers around.

My card features products from All That You Are Stamp Set, Floral Romance Speciality Designer Series Paper and what I know is going to be some of my favourite die set – Wonderful Floral Framelits Dies.

The flowers from All That You Are were given a light watercolour colour with Fresh Fig Ink.  The leaves I added to my flowers were cut with Pear Pizzazz and Mossy Meadow Cardstock.  I also added a little Fresh Fig Cardstock leaf.  The Whisper White doily type diecut is also Wonderful Floral Framelits Dies.  I then added some Old Olive Linen Thread to tie all the colours together.  I used my White Gel Pen to add some detail to the centre of the flowers and lastly stamped a sentiment from All That You Are Stamp Set.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created fabulous cards with Linda’s sketch. Head over to the challenge and take a look.

Freshly Made Sketches #371

Hey Everyone

Welcome to Wednesday and a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Take a look at this awesome sketch designed by the uber talented Jen Mitchell.

The stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! 2019 Occasions Catalogue on the top of my list was Wonderful Romance.  This gorgeous stamp, with it’s spray of flowers and leaves, is perfect for colouring.  The flowers were given a light watercolour with Highland Heather Ink.  Because it was a tad hot in my craft room over the weekend, my glasses got a little foggy and I ended up with a bit of Highland Heather Ink in the centre of one of my flowers.  Of course I’d already coloured the leaves and didn’t want to start the whole thing again.  What to do?  Grab my White Gel Pen and add a dob of white gel to the centre of the flower. Image saved!  I then took my Black Journalling Pen to add definition lines to each of the petals.  I coloured the leaves with Lemon Lime Twist Ink and then added some Old Olive Ink to base of the leaves to create depth.

I can’t tell you how happy I was when I saw the matching framelits to this stamp set.  This framelit set is called Wonderful Floral Framelits Dies. Not only does the largest die cut around the outside of the stamp, it creates cutouts in areas that I wouldn’t be able to access by fussy cutting!  I did however fussy cut the two leaves that I added to the top of the image.  These leaves were given a darker shade of green to them – Mossy Meadow Ink.  I mainly fussy cut images like these because I like a fine edge around my images.  Another favourite die in this set is the doily type die that you can see under my spray of flowers.  I know this will feature on so many cards that I create.

The sentiment I’ve used is also from this set.  I added a strip of Lemon Lime Twist and Sahara Sand Cardstock under the sentiment.  The Whisper White Cardstock in the background is embossed with my Corrugated Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.   I then finished of my card with a Linen Thread bow and some sequins.

We would love for you to join us with this weeks sketch.  The Design Team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful inspiration for you.  Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hey Everyone

We have a new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches. Don’t Wednesdays come around quickly?  Our sketch hostess this week is the super talented and one amazing cardmaker Jennifer Timko.

Oh how lovely it is to get a new butterfly stamp set.  The butterflies in Butterfly Gala are so pretty and so detailed.  Not only are the images just what I’ve been waiting for, the sentiments are all ones that I will use.  The outline of the butterflies were stamped with Black Stazon Ink and the colours I’ve filled them with were Grapefruit Grove and Pineapple Punch.  The sentiment is stamped on Vellum Cardstock with Black Stazon Ink.  The combination of leaves are from two different die sets – Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Dies and Wonderful Floral Framelits Dies.  The background is embossed with my new Lace Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  It was only after I’d stuck everything together, I realised I didn’t think about which side was the embossed side and which was the debossed side….. Oh well, I like the look of this background.

As always, the team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome cards. Pop over to the challenge and see what amazing-ness they’ve got to show you.

Freshly Made Sketches #369

Hey Everyone

This is my first post after my little break for the Christmas and New Year period.  I hope you’ve all had an amazing festive season and didn’t overindulge like I did…..I do it every year – I just can’t help myself. I’m pretty sure it’s the law to put on weight over those 10 days or so 😉

We have one fantastic sketch for you to try this week at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch designer is Amy O’Neill.  You all know Amy is one super talented card maker right?

Oh I love new catalogue time. The 2019 Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalogue is only days away.  As a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, we are spoiled and get to order from this catalogue earlier than the release date.  One of the sets I knew I wanted when I received my catalogue in November was All That You Are.  This set, with it’s pretty flowers and leaves, were made for colouring.

My flower is watercoloured in Highland Heather Ink and the shadows and definition lines were drawn with my Basic Gray Watercolor Pencil.  The leaves are watercoloured with Pear Pizzazz Ink and the definition lines were drawn with my Old Olive Watercolor Pencil.

I’m going to call it now – the sentiment I have used on my card is from All That You Are Stamp Set also – it will be my favourite sentiment EVER! The font and the size of the letters are perfect for most of the circle and label punches I own.  As I don’t own an Highland Heather ribbon, I made my own by running my Whisper White Flax Ribbon over the Highland Heather Ink pad with my fingers.  I made sure I used gloves as my fingers get very inky.  I know this because the first time I tried this with ribbon, I had stained fingers for a day.  I then added two strips of cardstock I had sitting on my unused pile.  These are Highland Heather and Soft Sea Foam Cardstocks.

We have some exciting news over at Freshly Made Sketches.  We have new Design Team members – so pop over to read the announcement.  While you’re there, we would love it if you could play along with this weeks sketch.

Thanks for stopping by.
