Freshly Made Sketches #430

Hey Everyone

We have a new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch has been designed by the talented Jacquie Southas.

Before I started my card, I’d decided to use a different colour combination for me.  I chose Petal Pink and Call Me Clover – a combination I haven’t used before.  In fact, Call Me Clover would be the only green that hasn’t seen much ink on my projects. In order of greens, I would reach first for Pear Pizzazz, then Old Olive, Mint Macaron and then Soft Sea Foam.

I like to rotate my floral stamp sets so they all get a bit of love from me and so you don’t see the same images over and over on my cards. It was time that I used the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set and especially this Hibiscus Flower image.   I stamped the flowers in Black Memento Ink and then coloured the petals with Petal Pink Blends and Mango Melody Blends.  I took my Smoky Slate Blends and added colour around the centre of the flower to create depth to the image. The leaves have been coloured with my Call Me Clover Blends.

I used this script piece of DSP from Parisian Blossoms Specialty Designer Series Paper, because it’s Petal Pink and because I love it so much!  I added a Call Me Clover Cardstock diecut, cut with my Stitched Nested Labels Dies. I love me some bling, so I added some Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels. Finally, I had a wood edgelit from the Country Club Elements sitting on my desk, so it got added to my card.

Freshly Made Sketch #429

Hey Everyone

There’s a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches and it’s a great one!  Our fabulous sketch has been designed by the fabulously talented Judy Rozema.

I love the softness of the colours in the Parisian Blossoms Specialty Designer Series Paper.  These pretty Pool Party and Petal Pink papers were the starting point for my card.  I then chose the images I wanted to use on my card.  I used a combination of images from the Forever Blossoms Stamp Set and the Parisian Beauty Stamp Set.

The Eiffel Tower is from the Parisian Beauty Stamp Set. I stamped the image in Black Memento Ink and added some colour with my Smoky Slate Blends.  The flowers and leaves are from the Forever Blossoms Stamp Set.  After inking them up with Black Memento Ink, I gave them some colour with my Petal Pink and Mint Macaron Blends.  I took my Journaling Pen and added some definition around the centre of the flowers.

The sentiment I’ve added to my card is from the Forever Blossoms Stamp Set.  I trimmed the sentiment in half and layered it over the Eiffel Tower.  I then added three Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels. I may very well be in love with them and am on my second packet already.

Freshly Made Sketches #427

Hey Everyone

Wednesday’s mean a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week the sketch has been designed by me!

When I designed this sketch I had absolutely no clue what stamp set I was going to use.  Admittedly this card took me longer than usual as I overthought it and ended up settling on Forever Blossoms Stamp Set. I LOVE colouring this image and went to town on colouring this blossom branch with a combination of Real Red and Cherry Cobbler Blends. The leaves have been coloured with Mint Macaron Blends.  To add more definition to the petals and leaves, I added Smoky Slate Blends at the base of them.  I also added some white highlights to the centre of the flowers with my White Gel Pen.

To add some interest to the base of the card, I took one of the ink splatter stamps from Artisan Textures Stamp Set and inked it up with Gold Delicata Ink. I then took a piece from the Parisian Blossoms Specialty Designer Series Paper, one of my favourites, and added it to my card.  Petal Pink 1/4″ Metallic Edge Ribbon hasn’t left my desk as I am using it so often.  I couldn’t resist adding it to my card.  I’ve used Glue Dots to give it a bunched looked under my sentiment.  The sentiment added to my card is from the Forever Blossoms Stamp Set also.  Three little Metallic Pearls finished off my card.

Freshly Made Sketches #426

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog!  Every Wednesday the Freshly Made Sketches Design Team have a new sketch challenge for you to play along with. This week our sketch has been designed by my friend from down-under, Karren Johnson.

I think I may be addicted to the Dressed To Impress Stamp Set and Best Dressed DSP…… I love combining the images from the stamp set with fussy cut images from the DSP.

The designer series paper I’ve used in the background is from the Golden Honey DSP.  Black and white striped DSP is always very striking and is the perfect base for the pinks and greens in the images I’ve added to my card. I couldn’t resist adding a Best Dressed Tassel and some Gilded Gems Embellishments – never have enough pretties on my cards!

Freshly Made Sketches #425

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches! This week our sketch designer is the fabulously talented Cecile Ribon. I LOVE this sketch and wished that I could design one as cool as this!

Something I haven’t done until recently, is fussy cut my DSP.  I have always been a hoarder of DSP and only used it sparingly. Many of the SU paper packs have perfectly coloured images that are made for cutting out.  Bird Ballad DSP is one of those packs that has amazing images to cut and adhere directly to a card. The banner pieces I’ve used in the background on my card are also from this pack.  I raised the three banner pieces with Dimensionals and added some Linen Thread around them.  I then tied a Linen Thread bow amongst the flowers – hopefully you can see it.

The only stamping I did on this card is the sentiment.  The sentiment is from the Free As A Bird Stamp Set.  This really was a quick and easy card and came together in no time.

Freshly Made Sketches #424

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday, so that means we have a new sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch has been designed by the super talented Jennifer Brum.

I channelled Jen with the colours I’ve used on my card today.  She has used this gorgeous colour combo in the past and I wanted to emulate her striking colour choices. Daffodil Delight Blends gave my poppies, from the Painted Poppies Stamp Set, colour. The leaves I’ve added to my card have been coloured with my Old Olive Blends.

The sentiment I’ve used on my card is from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set.  I matted this sentiment with diecut from the Peaceful Poppies Elements.  The black banner is also from this pack. I love how black makes any image pop when layered behind it.  To add more texture, I embossed the background Whisper White Cardstock with my Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created gorgeous cards that will no doubt inspire you to create a card and join in this weeks challenge.

Freshly Made Sketches #423

Hey Everyone

There’s a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches for you to try.  This week our sketch has been designed by the uber talented Kim Singdahlsen.

My card features the Positive Thoughts Stamp Set.  I’ve chosen Elegant Elegant Ink for the flower and Mint Macaron Ink for the leaves. The sentiment is one I already had sitting on my desk left over from another card.  The stamp set it’s from is the Bonanza Buddies Stamp Set.  It was right size for the card I was creating and it always feels good it use up discarded stamping rather than throw them out.

Freshly Made Sketches #422

Hey Everyone

There’s a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented and super funny Linda Callahan.

Painted Poppies Stamp Set got a work out on my card today.  I started off with light watercolouring with some Real Red Ink. To give definition to the creases of the petals, I added some colour with my Real Red Blends.  The leaves were given a quick watercolour with Mint Macaron Ink.

The designer series paper I’ve added to my card is from the Parisian Blossoms Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I added a strip Bermuda Bay Cardstock to have a contrast colour. I then tied a Baker’s Twine bow for the bow element on the sketch.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #419

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch designer is the wonderfully talented Lee Ann Barrett.

When you need a quick and easy card, you can’t go past cutting images from your DSP!  I chose these gorgeous blooms from the Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper pack. Not only does it have pretty flowers, I also cut the leaves from the same piece.  The Petal Pink DSP I added to the background is also from this pack.  Because I can’t stop using Bermuda Bay on my projects at the moment, I matted my DSP with it and also added a piece under my Whisper White panel on an angle.  The sentiment I’ve added to my card is from the Dressed To Impress Stamp Set.  Under the sentiment I placed a strip of Petal Pink 1/4″ Metallic-Edge Ribbon – I love that it paired well with my DSP. One Noble Peacock Rhinestone was the finishing touch to my card.

Freshly Made Sketches #418

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday, so that means a new sketch to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches.  This weeks sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented Jacquie Southas.

I’ve yet to ink up one of my most wanted Sale-A-Bration stamp sets – Happy Birthday To You.  I stamped the image in Black Memento Ink and coloured the image with Calypso Coral, Mint Macaron & Petal Ink Blends.  The designer series paper I’ve used in the background is from the Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper pack.  The birthday sentiment I’ve added to my card is also from the Happy Birthday To You Stamp Set.  Because I can’t do without embellishments, I added three Champagne Rhinestones Basic Jewels and a strip of the gorgeous Petal Pink 1/4″ Metallic-Edge Ribbon.  I am loving both of these and want to use them on every card.

We would love to see what you create with the sketch.  Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what the team have created.

Thanks for stopping by.
