Freshly Made Sketches #407

Hey Everyone

Oh my goodness, I am one whole day late in posting this!  I think as the year has gone by, so has my memory!

We have a new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our fabulous sketch has been designed by the super talented Lee Ann Barrett.

The Christmas Gleaming Stamp Set got a work out for Lee Ann’s sketch.  So did my blends! I can’t believe it took me a few months to jump on the blends train – why did it take me so long? They’re so easy to use and they colour like a dream. The holly images are also from the Christmas Gleaming Stamp Set.  They’ve also been coloured with my blends. I’ve gone with a non traditional Christmas colour scheme on this card – Night of Navy in the background DSP from Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper and Cherry Cobbler in the cardstock and bauble. I really like this Night of Navy and Cherry Cobbler combo.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created the most gorgeous cards with this sketch.  Head over to the challenge and take a look.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #406

Hey Everyone

There’s a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for you to play along with.  Our awesome sketch has been designed by the our talented design team member Jacquie Southas.

Again, I’ve created a card using the Christmas Rose Stamp Set for a card that isn’t a festive card.  The sentiment I’ve added to this card makes this card suitable for an anniversary, a weeding, friendship or even a birthday card. The rose image has been coloured with a combination of Lovely Lipstick and Cherry Cobbler Blends.  The leaves have been trimmed from the gorgeous papers from Christmastime Is Here Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.

For the background of my card, I initially had a plain piece of Whisper White Cardstock.  I felt it looked a little plain, so I added a piece of Mercury Glass Designer Acetate.  I then added a rectangle of Whisper White Cardstock that was given some treatment with Shimmery White Embossing Paste and Basic Pattern Decorative Masks. I liked the textured background behind my roses and sentiment.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #405

Hey Everyone

Welcome to another Wednesday and another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch designer is the fabulously talented Judy Rozema.  Have a look at her cool sketch!

This card is so easy to re-create if you love fussy cutting…… 🙂 These little boughs took me about 15 minutes each one. I was probably almost regretting my choice to use them after the first one. However, I persevered and in the end I really liked the outcome of the layered boughs with Celestial Copper Delicata Metallic Ink pine cones.  The boughs, pine cones and sentiment are all from my favourite Christmas stamp set atm – it’s called Peaceful Boughs Stamp Set.

The elegant paper I’ve added to my card base is from the Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.  I added some texture to my Whisper White Cardstock squares with my Scripty 3D Embossing Folder.  I couldn’t stop there, I had to add a Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewel.

Freshly Made Sketches #403

Hey Everyone

Love a sketch challenge? I do and especially when it’s designed by me! Actually that’s not tue, I always stress when it’s my turn. I overthink it and make it harder than what it needs to be.  The sketch I’ve designed is for the latest challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

Here’s my sketch:

I’m continuing to add to my Christmas card stash and have created the following card for an upcoming card class.

I’ve created my card using the Peaceful Boughs Stamp Set and Beautiful Boughs Dies.  I love me some layers, so I’ve layered my card with some DSP from Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper, a strip of Real Red Ribbon and a strip of Soft Suede Cardstock. Those leftover strips come in handy for my layering.

The pine cones have been stamped in Soft Suede Ink and Golden Glitz Delicata Metallic Ink.  My sentiment has also been stamped with this Metallic Ink.  The Garden Green Cardstock leaves have been cut with my dies and the background has been stamped with ink splatters in Soft Suede Ink.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created cards that make my sketch look awesome! Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #402

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday, so that means we have a new sketch challenge for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. My super creative friend, Karren Johnson, has created the following sketch – which is a pretty cool one.

I am on a mission, a Christmas card mission.  My festive card stash has grown because of all the new toys I received recently from the Stampin’ Up! 2019 Holiday Catalogue.

As soon as I saw Karren’s sketch, I thought these baubles and holly images from Christmas Gleaming Stamp Set would work perfectly.  I gave the baubles some colour with Cherry Cobbler Blends and Golden Glitz Delicata Metallic Ink.  For the Golden Glitz Ink, I used an old Aqua Painter with no water in it and applied the colour to the bauble.  I really like the sparkle it brings to the bauble.  The holly was given colour with my Cherry Cobbler and Mint Macaron Blends.

For the background I used my new Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder to give texture to my Whisper White Cardstock.  I’ve actually used the debossed side of the cardstock because I liked the look of the ridges with my baubles.

I added a strip of DSP from Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper and a strip of Real Red 1″ Ruched Ribbon.  After adding a strip of Garden Green Cardstock and the sentiment from Christmas Gleaming Stamp Set, I finished off my card with three Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Freshly Made Sketches #401

Hey Everyone

We hope you all had fun playing along with last weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches . For those who played along, I hope you’ve all checked  checked your email to see if you have won one of the many prizes that our generous sponsors donated.

This weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches has been designed by the wonderfully talented Cecile Ribon.

I’m currently working on my Christmas cards and thought Cecile’s sketch would work really well for one.  I started my card with a Copper Foil circle.  I then heat embossed the cluster of stars background stamp from Frosted Foliage with Copper Embossing Powder on a Whisper White Cardstock circle.  I then stamped the stem of holly with Memento Black Ink and coloured the berries with Cherry Cobbler Blends.  I fussy cut them out and raised them up because I really like dimension to my cards.  The sentiment I’ve used is from Tidings All Around Stamp Set.  This has also been embossed with Copper Embossing Powder.  Under all my layers I added a strip of Sahara Sand Cardstock and a strip of 1/4″ Copper Trim.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #400 Week 4

Hey Everyone

Welcome to week 4 of our month of celebration at Freshly Made Sketches.  This challenge is a special one as there will be prizes! Yes! Prizes! All you have to do is design a card and link it up to the challenge for your chance to win.  We will randomly choose cards to receive a prize from our sponsors below.  How fabulously generous these companies are to provide these prizes for us to give away.

Wonder if I can create a card and change my name in the gallery so I could be eligible for one of these……probs not…..

The card I’ve created showcases one of my favourite images – the gorgeous magnolia image from the Good Morning Magnolia Stamp Set. This flower is so easy to colour and is a great focal point to any card.  I’ve lightly coloured the petals with my Petal Pink Blends and the leaves with my Mint Macaron Blends.

The designer series paper I’ve used in the background is from Magnolia Lane DSP.  I matted the DSP with Mossy Meadow Cardstock and layered it on a Thick Whisper White Cardstock base.  Once my flower was coloured, I added a sentiment from Tropical Chic as it was the perfect shape and size for my card.  I also matted the sentiment with Mossy Meadow Cardstock.

Don’t forget for you chance to win one of the amazing prizes above, then head over to Freshly Made Sketches and link up a card. While you’re there, make sure you check out the wonderful cards the Clean Team have created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #400 Week 3

Hey Everyone

Welcome to the third week of Freshly Made Sketches month of celebrations.  Week 3 sees us re-visit our 300th sketch. I hope you can join in with this weeks sketch challenge. I love looking at the gallery to see what you create.

I played around with colour combinations and came up with Night of Navy, Rococo Rose, Smoky Slate and Blackberry Bliss for my card.

The stamp set I used was the First Frost Stamp Set and matching dies.  The flowers have been stamped in a combination of Blackberry Bliss and Rococo Rose Inks.  The sentiment I’ve added to my card is also from this set.  It’s been stamped in Black Memento Ink.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards using this sketch.  Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created with the sketch.

Freshly Made Sketches #400 Week 2

Hey Everyone

Welcome to the second week of Freshly Made Sketches month of celebrations.  Week 2 sees us revisit our 200th sketch.

This sketch had me reaching for my Dashing Deer Bundle to pair with some Garden Lane DSP.  I love it when I can work products into projects for something other than they were designed for.  This Garden Lane DSP isn’t a traditional pack of Christmas papers, but I think it works perfect for my festive card.

My deer has been cut out with my Detailed Deer Thinlits Dies.  To tie in with the colours in the DSP, I used Mossy Meadow Cardstock for him.  I added some strips of Mint Macaron and Sahara Sand Cardstocks under the sentiment as well as piece of Braided Linen Trim.  For a bit of sparkle I added some Noble Peacock Rhinestones.

The team have created wonderful cards using this sketch.  Why don’t you pop over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created?  We would love it if you played along with us!

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #400 – An Anniversary Celebration

Hey Everyone

We are celebrating our 400th sketch challenge at Freshly Made SketchesWe are kicking off a big month of celebration by going back to where we began.  Eight years ago, Lesley Croghan came up with the idea of using sketches that were clean (but not always simple) as a design tool. Not only was she on to something that would become a staple for crafters, she also put together a team that would grow and impact many designers. Two of the original team members, Jen Mitchell and Linda Callahan, are still on the team! So this week we are using FMS #1, which was also FMS #100! We have lots of celebrating to do all month too. We hope you will join us this week and, as always, we can’t wait to see what you create!

I remember playing along with the very first Freshly Made Sketches sketch and then again for sketch 100. I’ve taken a look at these cards, and have judged them as not worth for linking….. I may’ve moved on from those cards I created…..
The card I’ve created for this challenge features roses from To A Wild Rose Stamp Set.  I like the way the roses fill up my card and I hope you think they work well for the sketch.  The roses have been watercoloured lightly with Pineapple Punch Ink. The leaves were given colour with Mint Macaron Ink and match the DSP rectangle I’ve used – this DSP is from Garden Lane Designer Series Paper.  The background ink splatters are from Artisan Textures Stamp Set.  I’ve inked them up with Mint Macaron Ink also.

We would love it if you could you join in our celebration month of sketches.  Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see all the fabulous creations the team have designed.

Thanks for stopping by.
