The Card Concept #10

Hey Everyone

Do we have a great challenge for you at The Card Concept this fortnight?  I’ll answer for you – yes!  The challenge we have for you is to create a project with a coffee theme. I can’t wait to see how you interpret it.

CC10pic

Lucky for me a I had a couple of weeks to think about this challenge as it had me stumped for a little while.  I have nothing in my stamping collection that says coffee at all!  Then I remembered MDS.  I’d totally forgotten how to use it and then because I got a new laptop I had to go through the whole rigmarole of getting it loaded again.  Then when it came to printing ,I’d ran out of ink.  $127 to buy new cartridges and I was ready to go. (It was probably cheaper to buy a new printer!).  Here’s what I came up with:

The Design Team have created some fabulous coffee themed cards – so head over to The Card Concept and check them out.

The Card Concept #8

Hey Everyone

I’m back with another card.  This time it’s for the Card Concept challenge where this week we’re asking you to create a card with an Umbrella.

CC8pic

I’m not gonna lie – adding an umbrella to my card challenged me (I guess that’s why challenges are good for me, they really test me!).  I started off with just a tag, but then ended up adding it to a card as I wasn’t happy with it by itself. I’ve left this card sentiment-less as sometimes it’s nice to have a blank one in the cupboard.

We’d love to see how you interpret this challenge – head over to the challenge and check out the inspiration from the design team.

The Card Concept #7, The Deconstructed Sketch #144 & IBSIC #80

Hey Again Everyone

I’m back with my second post tonight and this time it’s for The Card Concept.  Our challenge for you is to create a card with a butterfly theme – easy peasy right?

I found a retired Stampin’ Up! set called Nature Walk that had a butterfly in it that reminded me of the butterfly in the inspiration pic.  The layout for my card is from this weeks Deconstructed Sketch and the colours I’ve used are from the colour challenge at Inspired by Stamping.

The Card Concept #6 & Cardabilities #95

Hey Everyone

I’m back with another card and I’ve just realised I’ve used the same flowers and leaves I used on my previous card.  The cards were made on separate days and I’ve only just realised the posts would go live within a couple of hours of each other!

This week at The Card Concept we have a pretty inspiration pic with a birthday theme for you to create your cards.  I was initially going to re-create the whole wedding cake with flowers to a tee, but decided in the end to leave the cake off and just use the colours from the flowers instead.  I also thought the background in the pic looked a bit woodgrain-ish so I’ve used my new Stampin’ Up! Woodgrain stamp to the background.  The layout for my card is for this weeks sketch challenge at Cardabilities.  I’m also entering my card into Seize The Birthday’s challenge.

The Card Concept #5

Hey Everyone

We had a huge 172 entries for our last challenge at The Card Concept!  We’re thrilled that so many crafty people want to play along with our challenge.  This fortnight we have a colour challenge for you.

CC5pic

I have a story about this card.  This is my second card for the challenge as when I first looked at the inspiration picture I had it in my head that the colours were black, green & white.  It was only when I went to load my original card to our gallery did I realise the colours were supposed to be espresso, green & white.  Note to self – take more notice of the challenge pic BEFORE I make my card! Not entirely sure how I feel about this card, but it was all I could come up with at the last minute. I’ve stamped Stampin’ Up!s Dictionary in the background, but it doesn’t really show up really well in the photo.  The two-toned flowers I’ve stamped are from Stampin’ Up!s Simple Stems and the leaves are my favourite from Summer Silhouettes.

The Card Concept Challenge #4

Hey Everyone

Wow! We had 140 entries for our third challenge at The Card Concept – I can’t wait to see what you create with our fourth challenge!  This fortnights challenge is to create a card with a floral theme – here’s our inspiration pic to give you a hand making your card.

CC4pic

As you will see by my card I took the inspiration pic literally.  I totally love the flowers in the photo and went about re-creating them myself.  I tried to describe these flowers to my mum the other day on the phone to ask what they could be. She said two types of flowers.  I googled both flowers and ended up finding the correct one.  I then promptly forgot what they’re called.  I’m typing this post at 10pm at night so it’s too late to call her and ask her again – so at the moment these flowers have no name.  Anyway I made these flowers by cutting 6 circles of differing sizes and the black centre of the flower was made with my new Stampin’ Up! fringing scissors.  The sentiment I’ve used is from Stampin’ Up!s Petite Pairs.

The Card Concept #3

Hey Everyone

Welcome to our third Card Concept challenge.  This week is a monochromatic pink challenge.  We have this fabulous inspiration pic to create your projects.

The inspiration for my card came from the pretty pink roses in the photo and I’ve added a green bow that I took from the background in the pic.

The Card Concept Design Team News

Hey Everyone

I’m extremely excited to be posting this news with you today. The amazing Lesley Croghan, who is the creator of so many of the challenges I’m addicted to, has invited me to be on the new card challenge in town called The Card Concept.

CCDesigner Badge

There will be 12 designers sharing in 6 distinct styles of card making.  This is extremely exciting for me as I will be one of two designers representing the Shabby Chic/Vintage style.  My Shabby/Vintage partner will be Debbie Marcinkiewicz (whose card I just adore) so get ready for loads of distressing and probably lots of scrunchy seam binding bows!  What’s the definition of Shabby Chic/Vintage you ask?

Definition:

  • the use of used, worn or inexpensive components to make stylish goods
  • distressed or sponged edges
  • old feel-antiqued
  • lots of embellishments
  • ribbons or lace
  • lots of layers

Here’s a card I made a little while ago that I think represents my style:

We’d love for you to head over to The Card Concept and check out the different styles the Design Team will be representing – what style are you? The challenge starts in January so you have plenty of time to explore your style.

Thanks for stopping by.
