Hey Everyone

It’s time for another challenge at The Card Concept. We have a wonderful inspiration picture and theme for you to create your cards:

CC29pic

So many colours and my initial thought was “how do I combine that many bright colours for a shabby chic card?”  Flowers seemed the best way to go – here’s what I came up with:

The Card Concept #28

Hey Everyone

I’m back with my second post today – this time it’s for our new challenge at The Card Concept  Here’s our inspiration pic for you this week:

CC28pic

I’ve gone with rolled roses (haven’t done these in ages) as I wanted to duplicate the roses from the picture.  I’ve also added a woodgrain panel as I love the box the roses are presented in.  I have a basket sitting on my desk that I throw bits and pieces in that I have left over from other projects. I keep them there in case I might use them, but very rarely do.  I finally used some on this card. The stamped ticket, travel post sign, lace, leaves and burlap have all been recycled.  Here’s my card:

The Card Concept & 25 Days of Christmas Tags

Hey Everyone

It’s that time again for a new challenge at The Card Concept – except this fortnight we are doing something different. We’re also playing along with the very talented Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags.  You’re going to want to play along with Tracey’s challenge as she’s giving away prizes!!!  If you leave a comment on my blog I will randomly choose one person to be entered into the chance to win one of Tracey’s fabulous prizes.  Gotta love a challenge that offers the chance to win! So our challenge for you to create a tag or a card with a tag using a snowman. Here’s the inspiration pics:

25 Days of Christmas Tags

I saw that we had this challenge a little while ago and realised I don’t own a snowman stamp.  I almost caved and brought a stamp set just for this challenge but I just couldn’t justify spending the cash on a stamp set I would use once (oh hang on I think half of my craft room is sets that I’ve only used once! lol).  I think I’ve shied away from buying them as I don’t know how a snowman card would go down, being that it’s summer here in Australia and it just doesn’t seem right to give a snowman card.  So I searched around until I found a free digital image and gave him a bit of colour. Here’s what I came up with:

We would love for you to join us – so create a tag and link it up!

The Card Concept #22

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge for you at The Card Concept.  This time we have the following inspiration picture for you to create your cards.

CC22pic

I took inspiration for my card from the colours of the walls and wheelbarrow and also the multitude of colours in the leaves.  I’ve also stamped three different types of leaves and rock’n’rolled them with Cajun Craze and Blackberry Bliss inks.  The leaves are all from retired Stampin’ Up! sets called French Foliage and Papaya Collage.  The sentiment is from Blooming with Kindness.  Here’s my card:

The Card Concept #20

Hey Everyone

I’m back with another card and this time it’s for the colour challenge at The Card Concept. Take a look at the inspiration pic:

You’ll see these colours would work so well for a Halloween card but as I’ve only made a couple Halloween projects ever, I’ve decided to go with what I’m familiar with – a feminine florally card.  Can you tell I’m loving my blendabilities at the moment?  I’ve used another flower from Bloom with Hope for my card as this one lends itself so well to colouring.

Card Concept #18 & Cardabilities #106

Hey Everyone

One of the things I love about challenges is that they do just that – they challenge me!  The challenge at The Card Concept this week is Back to School with the following inspiration picture to further inspire you.

CC18sketchI tried to do my best with what little Back to School products I had (Back to School is not really big in Australia).   To give me a helping hand with designing my card, I’ve used the sketch from this weeks Cardabilities challenge.  Here’s their great sketch:

The Card Concept #16

Hey Everyone

Our challenge for you this fortnight at The Card Concept is to create a wedding card.  We have the following pretty picture to inspire you.

CC16pic

I dug into my stash to retrieve some retired Stampin’ Up! designer series paper called Beau Chateau. Lots of playing went into my card and was really pleased with how it finally turned out (took me ages for me to be happy with this one!). Here’s my shabby wedding card.

The Card Concept #14

Hey Everyone

Nothing from me for two weeks, then two cards in one day!  The card I’ve made is for this weeks colour challenge at The Card Concept.  Take a look at these pretty colours:

CC14pic

I really love this combo together, but have never tried to create a shabby card with them.  I used white cardstock as my base colour (something I never really do much of).  I started off using black, but it was too much in my face and felt too dark for a shabby card.

The Card Concept #12

Hey Everyone

You’re going to love this weeks challenge at The Card Concept – our challenge for you to is create a card with a Nautical Theme.

CC12pic

I really enjoyed making my card for this challenge and tried to put as many nautical embellishments as possible.  I love the whitewash boards that you see in a lot of beachy houses in the movies so I tried to re-create some of them.  Stampin’ Up!s Hardwood stamp worked perfectly for these.  I also made a life buoy as sort of a picture frame and stamped the boat from Stampin’ Up!s Open Sea to have framed behind it.  I added an anchor as well that I took from the inspiration picture and finished off my card off a vintagey brad.
