Freshly Made Sketches #330

Hey Everyone

Wednesday’s seem to come around in the blink of an eye!  It feels like the weeks are flying by and before we know it, Christmas will be here!  We have a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches for you.  Our sketch designer is Jen Brum.  Jen’s cards are creative, clean and so very striking. Head over to her blog and take a look.

I’ve had a couple of requests for wedding cards lately and have non in my stash.  I chose Jen’s fabulous sketch to start off my wedding card collection.

My leaves are created using my Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies. The colours I’ve chosen for my card are Sahara Sand, Old Olive and Whisper White.  To create the larger leaves, I inked up a silicone mat with Sahara Sand and Hello Honey Inks.  I then spritzed the ink with water and applied some Whisper White Cardstock directly on to the mat.  Once the cardstock dried, I then ran the cardstock through my Bigshot with the larger leaf die.

I stamped the ink splatter stamp from Swirly Bird in Sahara Sand Ink and stamped on to my card base.  I then added my sentiment, the strips of cardstock and some Linen Thread.  To add a little bit of wedding bling, I then finished off my card with a sequin.

The Clean Team at Freshly Made Sketches have created gorgeous cards to inspire you.  Pop over to the blog and see their creations.

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink for you.  This week our challenge is to:

Not only did I get one, but I need up with three things starting with H on my card.

  1. Heart
  2. Hugs
  3. Handmade flower

Freshly Made Sketches #323

Hey Everyone

There’s a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch is a fabulous one and has been designed by Karren Johnson – our super creative Kiwi friend who makes stunning cards with amazing background and stunning details.  I’m going to make a trip over the seas in-between our countries and touch all the stuff in her craft room one day – she just doesn’t know it yet!

This card started as baby card and somehow ended up as a wedding card.  Funny how that happens!  The designer series paper strips I’ve used are from Stampin’ Up!s Bundle of Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.  My white leaves and gold flowers are cut on my big shot with Flourish Thinlits Dies.  The sentiment is one that I haven’t used on any of my cards yet – so I wanted to give it some ink today.  This great sentiment is from Better Together.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #320

Hey Everyone

Oh my goodness! I’m in total holiday mode and have absolutely no idea what day it is – hence me forgetting to schedule my post last night for the new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This weeks cool sketch has been designed by the fabulously talented Kim Singdahlsen.

It’s been a while since I created a card for a wedding.  In fact I found none in my stash….  I channelled my inner Cecile with this card.  Cecile has the most creative way of using dies and layering them to perfection.  I gave it a go with my Stampin’ Up! Stitched Shapes Framelit Dies.  The stamp set is a new one to me – it’s called Perennial Birthday.  The flowers in this set are so easy to add a smidge of colour and then just as easy to fussy cut.  The sentiment I’ve used is also from the same stamp set.

The team have created gorgeous inspiration for you.  Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and take a look at their pretty cards.

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #110, Addicted to CAS #123 & The Card Concept #80

Hey Everyone

I was able to play along with not one, not two, but three challenges with my card today.  I’m entering my card into the following fab challenges – Global Design Project, Addicted to CAS and The Card Concept.  Take a look at their inspiration pics:

As you probably know, sketch challenges are my favourites.  Half of the card is already done by following a sketch!  The sketch at Global Design Project is pretty awesome and made putting together my card so easy.  Are you like me and save sketches? When I get the chance, I print them and keep them in a file for when I need inspiration.

The code word at Addicted to CAS is “Leaves” and the gorgeous inspiration pic at The Card Concept has a beautiful cake layered with leaves.  I think the style of this card qualifies at The Card Concept as Classy & Elegant?  I combined these challenges and made a neutral wedding card.

The designer series paper I’ve used in the background is from a Stampin’ Up retired pack called Urban Underground Speciality Designer Series Paper.  This tiny spotted paper was my favourite from this pack.

The leaves are cut with Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies.  To create my coloured leaves, I watercoloured some Thick Whisper White cardstock with Tip Top Taupe (sadly retired), Cherry Cobbler and Crushed Curry Inks.

The sentiment I’ve used is from Beautiful Bouquet.  I stamped this sentiment in the flourish stamp from Label Me Pretty and punched it out with my Pretty Label Punch.  I then added a strip of Burlap Ribbon and Copper Ribbon.  Because I’m a lover of anything bling, especially on a nuptials card, I added a copper sequin.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #301

Hey Everyone

Love, love, love the newest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  This sketch has been designed by the super talented Jen Brum.  Sketch challenges are my favourite and where I get most of my inspiration when I’m stuck for a design.

My love for Stampin’ Up!s Graceful Garden continues.  This time I watercoloured my roses with Cherry Cobbler Ink and my leaves are coloured with Old Olive Ink.  The pretty designer series paper I’ve used is from Bundle of Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The papers from this pack are all stunning and, even though I want to use them on every card, I’ve held myself back so you won’t be Bundle of Love’d out!

The sentiment I’ve used is from Beautiful Bouquet.  I made this card for a wedding, but with the simple congratulations, it could be given for an anniversary or to someone who is starting a new job.  Whenever I sell my cards I’m always interested to hear the story of who they’re buying them for.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #290

Hey Everyone

This weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches has been designed by Kim Singdahlsen. Kim has such a wonderful and distinctive style. Pop over to her blog and take a look at her gorgeous cards.

Happy Birthday Gorgeous is stunning stamp set.  I just adore these striking flowers and used them on my card to create an elegant wedding card.  The background ink spots are from Swirly Bird and I’ve stamped them in Basic Black.  The outline of the flowers are stamped in Basic Basic and the inside with Berry Burst and Powder Pink.  My foliage has been stamped in Smoky Slate and then fussy cut. I am loving this colour combo together! I’ve just realised now as I’m typing this that I’ve used no DSP on my card – this one is an easy card for a card class as there’s not a lot of cutting preparation!

The Clean Team at Freshly Made Sketches have created GORGEOUS cards to inspire you. Head over to the challenge and take a look.

Thanks for stopping by.
