Just Add Ink #456

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday, so that means a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge is inspiration picture week.  Take a look at the pic below:

Not sure if it’s just me, but as soon as I saw the white flowers on white background, I thought of a wedding card.  White on white has a real elegance to it and I tried to replicate the elegant feel for my card.  White flowers stamped on Whisper White Cardstock felt kind of naked to me.  So I decided to emboss these gorgeous flowers from Graceful Garden with White Embossing Powder on Vellum Cardstock.  I then added light touches of So Saffron Ink to the flowers and Pear Pizzazz Ink to the leaves.  When I say light, I mean really light – I wanted enough colour so they didn’t blend in to the background.

I then embossed the leaf stamp from Graceful Garden on Vellum Cardstock and fussy cut it out for some extra foliage. The sentiment I’ve stamped is also from Graceful Garden – it’s one of my favourite sentiments for a wedding card. I looped some retired Very Vanilla Ribbon behind the sentiment a couple of times and adhered them to my card.  To finish off my card, I added some sequins for that bling-y wedding feel.

As always the team at Just Add Ink have created awesome cards that will surely inspire you. Head over to the challenge and see how gorgeous their creations are.  We would for you to create and link up a card for our challenge.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers

Just Add Ink #446

Hey Everyone

Yay for Fridays! Not only to we have the weekend to look forward to, we also have a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week is inspiration picture week.

A long time ago, an inspiration pic like this would’ve scared the living daylights out of me! I was pretty much a two colour per card kind of girl. I’ve learnt when combining more than two colours, I keep as much white space as possible to balance out all the colours.

I decided to try and recreate the pressed metal type background with my Tin Tile Dynamic Impressions Embossing Folder and some Pool Party Cardstock.  I then took a dauber and lightly coloured over the top of the impressions with Night of Navy Ink.  I’m into wedding cards at the moment and my go-to stamp for these type of cards is Petal Palette.  They have such an elegance to these flowers.  I watercoloured them with a combination of Mango Melody and Berry Burst Inks.  The leaves have been watercoloured with Old Olive Ink.  The sentiment I’ve used is also from the Petal Palette Stamp Set.  Under my sentiment I’ve layered a strip of Mango Melody Cardstock that has been cut with the edgelit die from Doily Builder Thinlits Dies.  I then added some Flirty Flamingo ribbon from the All My Love Ribbon Combo Pack and a strip of Pool Party Cardstock.  Basic Rhinestones are also an elegant finish to cards, so I’ve added three of these to my card.

The team at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous cards that will inspire you. Head over to Just Add Ink and take a look.  We would love it if you could play along with our challenge.

Just Add Ink #442

Hey Everyone

Welcome to Friday and a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week is sketch week at JAI – take a look at the fabulous sketch designed by Kim.

Can you tell I love layers on my cards? Pretty sure your answer’s going to be yes. I try to simplify my layers, but before I know it, my card is full of layers!

These fabulous leaves and sentiment that I’ve used on my card are from Stampin’ Up!s Wonderful Romance Stamp Set.  I stamped the leaves with Black Archival Ink and then gave them a light watercolour with Lemon Lime Twist and Mossy Meadow Inks.  I then used my matching Wonderful Floral Framelits Dies to cut them out.  The Whisper White doily type die is also from this die set.

To add another colour to my card, I used a strip of Petal Pink Designer Series Paper from Floral Romance Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The butterfly I’ve added to my card is fussy cut from Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper. I’m really getting the hang of cutting into my DSP!  I then added a pretty Gingham Gala Adhesive Backed Sequin.

The Design Team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful cards using this sketch. Pop over to Just Add Ink and see what they team have created for you.  We would love it if you could play along.

Just Add Ink #429

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge for you is to:

As soon as I saw that the challenge was to Just Add Vellum, I knew I wanted to create a wedding card with an embossed vellum background.  I randomly stamped my favourite flower stamp from Petal Palette in Versamark onto the vellum and then heat embossed it with White Embossing Powder.

I then stamped the same image in Memento Black Ink.  I took my watercolour pen and some Smoky Slate Ink and lightly coloured the flowers and leaves.

Initially I adhered the sentiment circle directly to my card, but then decided a Stampin’ Up! Pearlized Doily would make it stand out a bit more.  The sentiment I’ve used is from Petal Palette also.

The team at Just Add Ink have created awesome cards that will no doubt inspire you for this challenge.  Head over to Just Add Ink and take a look.

Freshly Made Sketches #344

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week our fabulous sketch has been designed by Cecile Ribon.  Cecile would have to be the Queen of die usage and all things elegant.

Take a look at her sketch:

So first things first…..I kind of flipped the sentiment box and the layering one beneath it by accident.  They were already stuck, photographed and added to my post before I realised I had them reversed….. Sorry Cecile!  I’ll try and get it right next time!

Beautiful Bouquet and matching Bouquet Bunch Framelits Dies are the first thing I thought of when I saw Cecile’s sketch. The matching stamp and die set really fill up the card and add an elegance to the wedding card I created.

The combination of colours I used for my flowers are – Sahara Sand, Crushed Curry & Pool Party.  I then stamped the centre of the flowers in Basic Black Ink as I really wanted them to stand out. The sentiment is also from Beautiful Bouquet and stamped it in Basic Black Ink to match the centre of the flowers.

Because I haven’t purchased myself a huge amount of new designer series papers yet, I decided to add thin strips of Whisper White Cardstock to my Pool Party triangles to add a little interest to the background.  I actually don’t mind this look for a change and will have to remember to do it in the future as I think it jazzes up plain cardstock.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome inspiration for you.  Pop over to the challenge and take a look at their cards.  We would love it if you could play along with us!

Just Add Ink #411

Hey Everyone

Happy Friday to you all!

We have a new challenge for you to play along with at Just Add Ink.  Love, love, love sketch challenges and this sketch that Jan has created is really up my alley.

As soon as I see I a fantastic sketch, my creative juices kick in and I know exactly what I want to create. I “saw” wedding card when I pictured it in my mind – maybe because of the heart, but as you can see, I chose a leafy image to replace the heart.

I’m thinking I may’ve used Petal Palette on every wedding card I have made recently.  I can’t help it! These flowers have an elegant artwork to them and are made for colouring.  The really are perfect for my CAS wedding cards.  My flower are and leaves are lightly watercoloured with Powder Pink and Pear Pizzazz Inks.

To add a little more interest to my card, I have tilted my sentiment frames.  I then added some Basic Black Bakers Twine because sometimes sequins just aren’t enough embellishments.

You will love the cards the design team have created as much as I do, so pop over to the challenge and take a look.  We would love it if you could play along with us this week.

Thanks for stopping by.

I love the cards the team at Just Add Ink have created.  Head over to the challenge and take a look.  We would love it if you could play along with us and show us your creations.
