The Challenge #61 & Retro Sketches #204

Hey Everyone

I’m back with another card I made today.  This time I’ve combined my card for the inspiration picture challenge at The Challenge and the sketch challenge at Retro Sketches.

I fell in love with the vintage feel in the inspiration pic and as I’m a sucker for neutrals, woodgrain and smidges of pink, I knew I had to play along. As always Retro Sketches’ layers are right up my alley. It was so easy to combine these two challenges.  Stampin’ Up!s Garden in Bloom is a stamp set I haven’t used in ages so I dusted it off and and gave it a run.  I’ve paired it with some leaves I cut with Botanical Builder Framelit Dies.  The woodgrain panel was created by stamping Hardwood in Tip Top Taupe on to Sahara Sand card stock.  I then used a variety of stamps from Stampin’ Up!s Timeless Textures for the background..  The sentiment is from Four You.  Here’s what I came up with:

Mojo Monday #425 & colourQ #318

Hey Everyone

I’ve had a busy, busy weekend but managed to sneak in a card for two challenges – Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge and colourQ Colour Challenge.

There are some truly wonderful people out there in this creative world of ours.  I’ve met loads of friends through this wide world of blogging and one special friend recently helped me so much when I needed her. I don’t even know if she really knew how much – so I made her a card to say I was touched by her words.

Here’s my card (and it was definitely made with love):

Pals Paper Arts #270 & Cardabilities #132

Hey Everyone

The card I made today is for two challenges – Pals Paper Arts & the final challenge at Cardabilities.  Here are their inspiration pics:

Cardabilities132sketch

I really like the colours at Pals Paper Arts for a Christmas card and dragged out a retired Stampin’ Up! set called Watercolour Winter. I love the holly from this set and applied my markers directly to the stamp to ink it up.  As always I used Gorgeous Grunge to the background and then added some Sahara Sand candy dots to finish it off.  Here’s my card:

The Card Concept #38

Hey Everyone

I’m back with a second card today and this time it’s for the new challenge over at The Card Concept.  Take a look at our inspiration colours for you:

FMS38pic

If you’ve seen my earlier card you’d notice I’ve used the same colours for both cards. I created my card for Freshly Made Sketches first and then went into our Card Concept page to see what the inspiration picture was for this week – unbelievably it was the same colours!  I think I was able to show that with different styles you can create two totally different cards using the same colours.

The Card Concept #37

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday so that means a new challenge and a new inspiration picture for you at The Card Concept. Take a look:

CC37pic

Ok, so I am not overly loving my card. Don’t know what it was but I really struggled.  Maybe it was the combination of so many bright colours – but I really couldn’t get my shabby on with them.  My background was created by watercolouring a whole heaps of colours to some watercolour paper and sponging in spots that needed a little more colour.  Here’s what I came up with:

The Card Concept #36

Hey Everyone

I really love challenges as they make me try different colour combos that I would never usually try.  Take a look at the fab inspiration pic we have for you at The Card Concept.

CC36pic

I tried a new-to-me technique – the emboss resist technique.  I heat embossed Stampin’ Up!s En Francais with Clear Embossing Powder.  I then sponged Slate Gray and Morning Meadow ink in patches and then wiped away the excess with a paper towel.  I then set about fussy cutting (gee did they take time!) the fern fronds and flower from Butterfly Basics.  Here’s my card:

We’d love for you to join us with our challenge. Head over to The Card Concept and link up a card. While you’re there, take a look at the wonderful inspiration from the design team.

The Card Concept #34

Hey Everyone

I’m back with a second post tonight. This time I’ve created a card for the new challenge at The Card Concept.  Here’s the inspiration pic:

CC34pic

I really love the colours in the picture and tried to match them. I’ve used Blushing Bride and Coastal Cabana.  To achieve my striped tag I inked the inside of my striped embossing folder and ran it through the big shot. I finger walked Dictionary in Blushing Bride over the background and inked up the flowers from Stippled Blossoms.  To finish off my card I used a sentiment from Petite Pairs.

The Card Concept #33

Hey Again Everyone

I’m back with a second card tonight.  This time I have created a card for this fortnight’s challenge over at The Card Concept.  Here’s our inspiration picture for you:

CC33pic

I to’d and fro’d with this colour combo for ages.  In the end I found the best thing to do was to walk away and come back a day later. I completely threw out the ideas I originally had and started from scratch and my card came together in less than 1/2 hour.  I really love the patterns and shapes in this picture so I tried to carry them over to my shabby card. You may not be able to see it but my pink circle DSP has a subtle chevron pattern to it. It was really hard to photograph.

Just Add Ink #257

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge for you at Just Add Ink.  This week is inspiration picture week and I found the following pictures that I hope will inspire you.

JAI257pic

I LOVE these colours and knew I wanted to make a vintagey tag.  I found some scrap pieces of DSP that I could use.  No matter how much DSP I try and use, my piles of it never seem to diminish.

We would love to see what you create with this challenge – head over to Just Add Ink and take a look at the inspiration from the Design Team.
